For Jehovah's Witnesses to "go out on a date" is to officially state "We are spending time together for the purpose of deciding if we want to marry each other." There is no casual dating allowed within the Jehovah's Witnesses culture. It is all about marriage.
Jehovah's Witnesses are supposed to always have a chaperone whenever courting. Any physical displays of intimacy are frowned upon. The desire of Jehovah's Witnesses is that the first time a couple kisses is when the elder conducting the wedding ceremony says "You may kiss the bride."
Kerbuckling is more fun than JW dating.

by Samsie inhello, i'm new here and have woken up to the real truth concerning the org.
i'm sort of fading away at the moment.... i need help with something, i used to as a child celebrate christmas and have always had amazing memories of it (my husband hasn't as he was born into the org) but i gave it up when i learnt the "truth".
my interest was only in pleasing god and still is.

I think it is a mischaracterization to say that the holiday of Christmas has pagan roots.
Yes, the winter solstice was celebrated by several cultures that eventually converted to Christianity. Those celebrations would include customs such as using conifer trees to decorate, etc. Yes, this was all done in the religious practice that involves gods with YHWH not being one of them.
However, it is actually a stretch to go: Yule = Christmas = Pagan Holiday = God hates it.
If you saw someone named Steve at a restaurant sitting a table with his closest family and friends in which they were all celebrating Steve would that mean you would be angered if your family and friends organized a dinner party to honor you? Same restaurant. Same table. Same food. Only everyone is having a good time while honoring you. Would you exclaim, "No! This is wrong! This is a dinner party with roots in Steve's dinner party?"
I will say that the holiday Christmas with its practices, imagery, and traditions are found no where in the Bible. If I were a Christian I would be a Catholic and this would not concern me. Catholics do not subscribe to the Protestant/Reformationist Lutheran concept of Sola Scripture (Scriptures Alone). Christmas was adopted by the Catholic Church as a religious holiday. The Catholic Church has a rich tradition of considering and accepting extra-Biblical writings. So, it makes sense.

Is WT Influencing Dubs To Check On Other Dubs' Activities Via ZOOM And Otherwise?
by HiddlesWife inthe reason for my question is because one pimo has noticed that there are some pimis--particularly spimis--who have remarked that they "are not going to contact nor associate with the friends who are delinquent on zoom and/or at in-person kh meetings, conventions, and assemblies".
i've noticed this as well: a few ppimis and pimqs who were very close to me and my exdub family members are hearing from them less and less lately than before last year's rc and this year's rc.
so, is the above a thing nowadays?

I remember that certain JWs went out of their way to find new ways to try and seem more spiritual ("superior") to others. These JWs were always finding fault with something and making their discovery known. Part of this was intentionally avoiding fellow JWs would were low/no meeting attenders.
Then, it seems every so often the Watchtower would encourage JWs to reach out to such ones to encourage them to return.
It has happened before and will continue to happen.

I don't see the Watchtower living by the barter system. If you use government fiat currency you are taking an active part in the commercial part of "the world" (Greek "Kosmos" - "system of things). You can't have it both ways. In or out. Unless, what the Watchtower preaches isn't what Jesus teaches... -

The Internet - sometimes truth is protected from a Watchtower RetCon.

I would like to point out that even though Paul wrote that "through one man, Adam, sin entered the world" the statement is a half-truth. "Sin" entered the world after Adam and Eve disobeyed God. The punishment handed down from Judge YHWY to the guilty parties was -
- You no longer have a perfect body.
- That means you will get sick, grow old, and die.
- Your sentence is a death sentence to you and to your yet to be conceived children.
- Do ensure you have children to condemn to death I will give you a sex drive to ensure conception.
- Once you die you will exist as disembodied energy that will experience pain for eternity.
After handing down a sentence of death and eternal torture for 2 pieces of stolen fruit to the first couple and an unborn race of sentient beings YHWH wanted to show just what a good guy he is. YHWH sends himself in the form of a man to die sinless. The 2 pieces of stolen fruit were compensated to YHWH by YHWH. In short, YHWH took a $2.00 bill from his right pocket and put it into his left pocket.
Was the debt paid? No. The proof - we are all still declared imperfect sinners, deserving of death, and eternal damnation. Romans 3:20 even condemns a person who perfectly follows all the law and commandments of YHWH as the law is just there to make us aware of being a sinner.
The first test was not eating fruit from one tree. The second test is to believe. Believe that there is nothing we can do to earn salvation from a wrathful God. It is pointless to make every attempt to act in a good way, better ourselves, and make amends for our transgressions. Rather, believe in a God who allowed himself to be killed as a man by being nailed to a hunk of wood. That is all that matters. All the harm we have done to ourselves and other will be magicked away.
Playing the martyr, or “martyr complex,” is when a person has an exaggerated sense of obligation to suffer or sacrifice for others in order to elicit sympathy, love, and admiration. It's also meant to evoke guilt. So playing the martyr is passive-aggressive behavior, and one of the hallmarks of covert narcissism.
