  1995 generation change

  now, many years later, i remember the 1995 generation change, very well.. since early youth, hearing my father explaining in field service the 2520 years.

  it was his main theme in the field.. with the change my doubts started.

  with some jw friends we did not trust the organization anymore.

  I remember someone putting a newspaper clipping of an article covering this on the congregation information board back in 1995. The writer quoted a woman who stated she was a Witness, but quit when the doctrine change happened. I hate to admit it, but the change didn't phase me. I was a born-in Witness at the ripe old age of 20 when it happened.

  the title does ask a great question.

  those who would deny that the bible is divine in origin usually point to failed prophecy, events that do not mesh with historic evidence, scientific evidence, or even plagiarism from other religions.

  The Bible - God's Word or Man's?

  That is the title of one of the Watchtower's seemingly endless list of books that was pushed out for sale placement in the Jehovah's Witness' ministry. The title does ask a great question. Is this book we call "The Bible" the word of God, Holy Spirit inspired scripture, or just the musings and opinions of humans?

  Those who would deny that the Bible is divine in origin usually point to failed prophecy, events that do not mesh with historic evidence, scientific evidence, or even plagiarism from other religions. This is all fine and dandy, but how about an actual confession from a professed writer of several Bible books?

  1 Corinthians 7:25-40 NWT

  25 Now concerning virgins, I have no command from the Lord, but I give my opinion as one who had mercy shown him by the Lord to be faithful. 26 Therefore, I think that it is best for a man to continue as he is in view of the present difficulty. 27 Are you bound to a wife? Stop seeking a release. Are you freed from a wife? Stop seeking a wife. 28 But even if you did marry, you would commit no sin. And if a virgin married, such a person would commit no sin. However, those who do will have tribulation in their flesh. But I am trying to spare you.
  29 Moreover, this I say, brothers, the time left is reduced. From now on, let those who have wives be as though they had none, 30 and those who weep as those who do not weep, and those who rejoice as those who do not rejoice, and those who buy as those who do not possess, 31 and those making use of the world as those not using it to the full; for the scene of this world is changing. 32 Indeed, I want you to be free from anxiety. The unmarried man is anxious for the things of the Lord, how he may gain the Lord’s approval. 33 But the married man is anxious for the things of the world, how he may gain the approval of his wife, 34 and he is divided. Further, the unmarried woman, as well as the virgin, is anxious for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in her body and in her spirit. However, the married woman is anxious for the things of the world, how she may gain the approval of her husband. 35 But I am saying this for your personal advantage, not to restrict you, but to move you to what is appropriate and to constant devotion to the Lord without distraction.
  36 But if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly by remaining unmarried, and if he is past the bloom of youth, then this is what should take place: Let him do what he wants; he does not sin. Let them marry. 37 But if anyone stands settled in his heart and has no necessity, but has authority over his own will and has made the decision in his own heart to remain unmarried, he will do well. 38 So also, whoever marries does well, but whoever does not marry will do better.
  39 A wife is bound as long as her husband is alive. But if her husband should fall asleep in death, she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the Lord. 40 But in my opinion, she is happier if she remains as she is; and I certainly think I also have God’s spirit.

  The Apostle Paul writes "I give my opinion...I think...this I say...in my opinion."

  What other ideas did Paul write and teach that were just his opinion, his thought, his sayings?

  Jehovah GOD a failed GOD in many respects.

  isn`t there enough evidence to acknowledge the god of the bible has been a failure ?according to wt / jw teachings ?.

  a god that has supposed to have created the visible universe and everything in it ?.

  some points where i would challenge that from an earthlings point of view using the bible if only in paraphrase.. doesn`t god create everything perfect ?

  the jehovah's witnesses have formally signed up to the national redress scheme for survivors of institutional child sexual abuse, more than a year after they were named and shamed for holding out.the federal government has announced another 34 organisations have joined the compensation program, allowing 37 stalled applications for financial support to finally be processed.more than 11,800 redress applications have been received so far, with around half having been processed and almost $530 million in payments made.a total of 526 organisations have signed up to the scheme, along with the commonwealth and all state and territory governments.the jehovah's witnesses were one of six of the original hold-outs, named by social services minister anne ruston in june last year.access to government grants were cut off, and the government sought to challenge the charitable status and tax concessions offered to such organisations as a punishment.

  I wonder if the Australian government provides statistics in the number of persons who successfully petition for the funds and the amount awarded by each group the claim is made against. For example -

  2021 - Jehovah's Witnesses - 17 petitioners granted funds - total: $2.7 million

  Imagine being a Witness headed to the contribution box knowing that their donation is going to pay for the Witness victims of child sex abuse in which the perpetrator is a fellow Witness.

  in the latest jw broadcast, anthony morris the turd gives a talk about donations.

  to camouflage this, he starts and ends the talk by saying that isn't actually what he's doing.

  first he starts with the usual disclaimer, 'wt has never begged for money like christendom and we never will', you know the drill.

  I was a Witness for nearly 4 decades. I belonged to 5 congregations in 4 different states. During those years never once did I ever see funds donated at the Kingdom Hall go to help the needy or the poor whether they were a member or not. Not 1 time!

  I remember there were 3 different contribution boxes in the Kingdom Hall -

  • Local Congregation
  • World Wide Work
  • Kingdom Hall Building Fund

  The Local Congregation fund was to maintain the Kingdom Hall. Any overages in donations were sent to the World Wide Work fund by a vote.

  The World Wide Work fund is another way of saying "The Watchtower Fund". That is what the money was used for - to keep the lights on at Bethel.

  The Kingdom Hall Building Fund was just that - donations to help build Kingdom Halls that would eventually be owned by the Watchtower.

  No where in there is there a fund to help people. This is why the Watchtower's tax exemption status needs to be pulled.

  It takes a while, but eventually a person finds his way out.

  it hard to believe------you don't have the truth.. sometimes, for many----it takes half of your life -- or more---to figure it out.

  it was like swimming upstream with lead boots pulling you back in.

  and the closer you got to the "real" truth----the further away you strayed from your intimate group.

  I was born-in as a Witness. It wasn't until my late 20's/early 30's that I faded, though not by choice. I was in my mid 30's when I realized the Watchtower sold a bunch of made-up non-sense.

  My biggest support has always been my wife. Not being financially reliant on a Witness and have non-Witness friends is the key to getting out. By the time I woke up I had so many friends who are not Witnesses and my Witness friends had already turned their backs on me.

  so my jw father is sick.

  my mother uses the opportunity to try and preach to my 16 year old daughter.

  i simply told my mother to: "please refrain from trying to lure *my daughter* in with jehovah's witness questioning.

  I'm thankful to Jehovah for the children & grandchildren that Jehovah has given me as He promised. They soothe my heart for the ones I've lost.

  I have some bad news. They will leave her, too. When a relationship is conditional there is no love.

  Most the children of the people I grew up with in my home congregation have all left the Witnesses.
