I found it was frowned upon to ever pray for the well being of any non-Witness. Just proof that Jehovah's Witnesses are not a Christian religion. Jesus' very words were that even the nation greet their brothers. Jesus commanded to love your enemies.

#8 - Rules of an argument state that the party who states something "is" has the burden of proof. The party that states something "is not" has no burden.
If I state I believe there is a god, I have the burden to prove it. If I state I don't believe in god I have no burden of proof.

Witness reaching out to me after 20+ years...
by SouthCentral ina few weeks ago; a witness couple from the midwest reached out to me after 25+ years.
they said they were doing a letter writing campaign and decided to reach out to me… they called on my personal cell phone, which was a little surprising.
a few days ago, a couple that i knew from over 40 years ago, sent me a text, again to my personal cell phone.. i assume that they just googled my name to get the personal info.

There is a definite effort by JWs to try to "re-active" "inactive" Witnesses. I received a link to a video on their website via text message. The video was made for that direct purpose.
There was another video drama done showing a former Witness walking past a literature cart on her morning commute. There is a flashback scene where she remembers her baptism as a child. Then she attends a convention.

Was Sin Inevitable?
by Parker ini was wondering about this question and wanted to ask: was sin inevitable?
also, i had thought about past watchtower articles or publications related to this topic and did some research and found this from our readers ask if adam was perfect, how was it possible for him to sin?.
well, then, did god create adam with a moral weakness, so that he lacked the ability to make sound decisions or to withstand temptation?

What is "sin"? Both the Hebrew and Greek words for this word are an archery term meaning "To miss the mark" or specifically in Hebrew "To miss the golden center of the target." We also have to know the Biblical definition of "perfection." That definition is "brought to its end, finished; lacking nothing necessary to completeness."
What is the mark being missed in a sin? It is to violate God's law. If Adam and Eve violated God's law, they sinned. So, perfection has not bearing on sin. Otherwise Jesus' sacrifice would be meaningless. Jesus could have sinned, but chose not to, and died a perfect man. Thus, balance was restored.
What is interesting is that to sin is to violate a law God has given. The question asked by Plato is "Is it pious because the gods say it is or is it pious because it is pious and the gods have told us so?" In other words - Is it good because God says it is good or is it good because it is good and God has told us so?
If it is good because it is good, God is only a messenger, and whether God still exists or not has no bearing on morality. However, if good is good because God says so then good is subjective to God's wants and desires, which means good doesn't exist.
If you walk into a dark room and see a burning candle you have had a subjective experience. If you close you eyes or turn your back on the candle it is still there. Objective things can be experienced through subjectivity. Therefor we can see good or evil and recognize it.

2 + 2 = 5?! lol
by LoveUniHateExams ininteresting video from carl benjamin.. apparently, some philosopher is arguing that 2 + 2 doesn't always = 4; sometimes it equals 5.. this is madness, utter madness.
i'm a scientist; objective reality does exist.
the existence of gravity isn't up for debate.

Post modern egalitarian relativism is a direct result of Nietzsche's 1848 prediction that, as a result of man "killing" God (i.e. "God is dead and we killed him...) there would be one of two pathologies that most persons would follow -
1. Totalitarianism through an Authoritarian government or
2. Moral Nihilism
Nietzsche has proven to be a prophet. The "2+2=5" is making the claim that all things are subjective and without meaning or purpose. All that matters is all things and people are treated equal regardless of what they do (that would beg to ask the question "What is equal?").
I would invite such persons to participate in an exercise -
If I have 2 apples and I want 4 apples, go over to that giant pile of apples and bring me the necessary amount of apples I would require to have 4 apples. Do this for me and I will give you one-million U.S. Dollars.
Now imagine if the following happened -
Person 1 brings me 2 apples: "Sorry, but you have brought my total up to 5 apples. You receive nothing. Good day."
Person 2 brings me 2 apples: "Sorry, but these are oranges. You receive nothing. Good day."
Person 3 brings me 2 apples: "Well done! I now have 4 apples. Here is your payment." Then I proceed to give Person 3 one-million dollars in Monopoly game money.
I promise you that all 3 persons would have no problem suing me for one-million dollars for breach of contract.

Newest Anti-Apostate Tactics
by Anna Marina indon't quote any scriptures during the watchtower study that are not in the paragraph.. don't quote the governing body or anything from the broadcast ever.
it might be true but it is not true truth if it is coming out of your mouth if you have been critical of the governing body.
especially so if your criticism is valid and you have dared to support you view with scriptures, most especially the words of jesus christ.. anyone know of other new tactics?.

It's drummed into your head by the Circuit Overseer, no extra research, even if it is JW literature, and no extra scriptures. We were told that the slave knew all of the extra research that we want to bring out, and the FS decided to leave it out and so should we! "We don't know more than the slave, do we? So leave it on the cutting room floor," was the C.O.'s words.
Wow! I left totally in 2010, but stopped attending meetings in 2007. I always remember people being praised from the platform for doing extra research for the benefit of the congregation. Now members are under strict orders to just be intellectually lazy and only listen to repeat.

Environmentalist changes mind on apocalyptic global warming
by wolverines inso he comes out of the movement and says this has become much less about environmentalism and more about trying to turn the world to marxism.
we have seen this in the blm, antifa and other so called movements that are a thin mask for the real goal.
and we know marxism has killed more people then the plague.

If all carbon producing practices were immediately halted it would be a drop in the bucket in regards to greenhouse gas emissions. 51% of greenhouse gases are produced by the animal agriculture industry. 91% of rain forest deforestation is directly related to the animal agriculture industry.
Cars and coal burning power plants pale in comparison to the pollution cause by meat and dairy farms. If you think it would be hard to get people to trade in their car for a bicycle, try asking people to trade their cheeseburger for a salad.

Prophesy from a JW (and others perspective). What purpose is there in trying to interpretate some of the stuff that you don't understand??
by RubaDub inthis is not a jw-bashing thing, but it always seemed odd to me that the "excuse" when things go wrong is that "we have to wait and see how the prophesy is fulfilled" or some other wording.. my question has always been, then what is the purpose of the prophesy if you don't understand it until after the fact?
isn't that like having a weather forecast but being told that we don't really know what the weather will be until the next day?.
i'm sure some of the intelligent people here can guide me but in all honesty, i never understood that..

To add to the question; what of persons going out of their way to fulfill Biblical prophecy? We are told that the Old Testament contains prophecy of a coming Messiah. Christians argue that the Jesus of the New Testament is the person who fulfilled the prophecy. Practicing Jews would argue otherwise, saying that Jesus did not fulfill all of the required prophesies to be the Messiah.

How would one simulate a long held Convention tradition - Walking the corridors during the sessions? Do sisters still have to simulate standing in line for 45 minutes to use the restroom? Best life ever!
