Email from JW relative/elder
by Lynnie inas much as i enjoy you and pete's company, you also know our understanding of how much we want you to be reunited with jehovah and his people.. .
we did not set the standards for what jehovah says about our associations with those who choose to not serve him.
so we will always be there for you and pete, but it is in your hands as to how we can enjoy your friendship.. .

10 Immediately by night the brothers sent both Paul and Silas to Be·roeʹa. On arriving, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, for they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Acts 17:10, 11
The Apostle Paul penned these words. He declared the Beroeans as "more noble minded" for carefully examing Paul's teachings against what the scriptures state.
If the Beroeans were complemented and held in high esteem by an actual Apostle, personally sent by the resurrected Jesus himself, by verifying his teachings through independent study. Why can't Jehovah's Witnesses take the words of the Watchtower and its Governing Body to do the same thing? Were the Beroeans chastised or disfellowshipped by the congregation in Jerusalem for doing such thing? Who is more trusty worthy - an Apostle who is spirit anointed or 8 imperfect men who believe they are annointed?

I highly recommend seeing a licensed counselor/therapist. If there is no danger of physical harm (i.e. assaultive behavior, sickness induced by depression) then there is hope.
I would do nothing to try and steer her from the JW religion. She will only see that as an attack and an excuse to withdraw from you. Perhaps even secretly hoping you will leave and divorce her.
Rather, be supportive while doing your own thing, but also always willing to do non-religious things together. Work on being the best you as possible. Remember PIES -
Physically attractive
Intellectually attractive
Emotionally attractive
Spiritually attractive
That last one does not mean religion. It means you have a set of morals and ideals you believe in, but also practice.
If your wife feels safe in the fact that you are not doing anything to discourage her from being a JW she cannot use that as an excuse to withdraw from you. Reassure her that you respect her freewill to chose a religion and to practice it. Let her know that you do not want to do anything interfere.
If she wants to attend meetings ask her if she needs a ride. If she wants to attend a regional convention ask her how you can help her attend. Support her decision to be a Witness.
In the end, her own belief system demands she respect you. If you actively support her life and ministry she has no ground to stand on to separate or divorce. That leaves her with these options -
Be in a miserable marriage
Separating or divorcing you, but having to be single or risk being disfellowshipped
Be a happy JW with a happy marriage to a non-believer
Option 1 is directly tied to option 3. If she is making the choice to hamstring the marriage because she doesn't want to be married to a non-believer, let her do the dirty work and have the blood on her hands. Show her you can be happy without being a Witness. Let her learn the hard way that JWs break up happy marriages and families.

I totally forgot about the Written Review. That thing was harder than a tests I took in high school. I could only imagine springing one of those on Witnesses who have only been in since the dumbing down of the religion has taken place.
"No, brothers. 'Go to JW.Org' is not the correct answer to this question. Not any of them. Stop writing that for all your answers."

JW.org greater than the Bible now
by eyeslice2 inthere was a time when brooklyn bethel was emblazoned with the words; "read god's word the bible daily" but it seems to me now that even the bible has taken second place to jw.org.
i remember having lots of studies using the 'truth' book.
we asked the students in those days to prepare well and look up the scriptures in their own copy of the bible.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Go to JW.Org. I don’t have the time or knowledge to answer your question.’” - Matt. 22:36, 37 NWT
Yeah. It is that pathetic.

The Theocratic Ministry School and Service meeting were two 45 minute meetings with a song/prayer on each side and a song in the middle. For that 90 minutes of program there was about 3 to 4 hours of study prep before the meeting if you looked up every scripture sited. Study prep involved getting deep into the subject matter to have well prepare, heartfelt, insightful answers during the meeting.
I have not been to a meeting since the change, but my understanding is that it is now shorter, there is little to no study prep because any answer is to be a quick reciting of the words in the source material. Other than that, most parts are prepared and presented in video format by headquarters in New York.
What used to be like attending college courses to prepare the congregation to be public ministers is now a weekly indoctrination and brainwashing. Leave your brain at home. Watchtower will do all the thinking for you.

'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??
by punkofnice inat one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.
however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.
i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

To make matters worse, how many of these "experiences" that were enhanced were of JW kids only to have the other parents berate their own children by saying "You should be more like Johnny Experience on the stage"?
