Dozens of youths in the 16 to 20 year old range go on a camping trip. Kids are hopping from sleeping bag to sleeping bag and tent to tent. 18 are disfellowshipped and several kids are conceived.

I think the "no religion in the house" compromise is a great idea. First, the husband in this case would never agree to a prohibition to Watchtower publications being in the home. Second, as such, it forces the husband to realize how unreasonable it would be to allow the wife to have a Christmas tree in the home.
The whole "one room/no external decorations" is nonsensical. Like anything else with Jehovah's Witnesses, its an all or nothing religion.

As one poster replied in this thread - If this policy is too be enforced it needs to include those who obtained higher education prior to becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Here is the argument for this:
Appointing a brother to the position of Elder or Ministerial Servant who obtained higher education prior to becoming one of Jehovah's Witness may still stumble someone in the congregation or send a conflicting message that pursuing higher education is acceptable by the organization.
All doctors and lawyers who are Witnesses should immediately be removed as Elders, Ministerial Servants, and any position of full time service in the organization.

Which Things Did Your Overzealous Parents Ban?
by pale.emperor inwe all know the gb like to impose rules upon the rules... but did anyone else out there have parents that implemented rules upon those rules?
mine did.
my mum tended to copy whatever the elders wives were doing and took it to the extreme.

Much which has already been posted on, I too was prohibited from owning or participating in. So, I thought I would add to the list -
Watching movies Rated PG-13
My father invented this and tried promoting it in the congregation, but it fell flat. His belief was that they were R-Rated Lite movies and therefor should be avoided. He adopted this policy at the worst of times. I was in middle school and two important movies were released - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Batman. Batman was the one that really broke my spirits. I was and still am a huge fan of comic book heroes. I had all sorts of Batman t-shirts and memorabilia. I remember friends in the congregation called me "The Batman".
When Batman was released everyone was sure I'd be the first in line. When I said I was not allowed to see it I was asked why. When I stated because it is Rated PG-13 everyone gave me an odd look.

Let J.W.'s keep their "two-witnesses" rule..................
by The Fall Guy in................for all their sinners - but make it mandatory that all j.w.
alleged criminals are promptly reported to the relevant authorities.
problem solved.

Some states, like mine, have a mandatory reporting law. Failure to report a felony child abuse case is a crime. Perhaps when the rank and file start doing jail time and the organization shrugs its shoulders when they do something might happen.

Bright kid.
The low levels of entrepreneurship have festered ridiculousness. This child is a glowing beacon of hope.

by Pistoff ini clicked this link to the november 2017 tvjw video, in it they defend their 2 witness policy, though, gutlessly, they do not mention it in the context of child sexual abuse.. anyway, check out the christian jehovian song at 57:06, ugh, makes me nauseous.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksz0qiftsok&feature=youtu.be&t=53m25s.

If I were to making a recording of that song, jump in a time machine, and give that recording to my teenage self to play am pretty sure my JW parents would make be burn after scorning me for trying to bring demons into our house by playing gospel music.
