................for all their sinners - but make it mandatory that all J.W. alleged criminals are promptly reported to the relevant authorities. Problem solved. It's not rocket science.

Expect to hear that r & f JW's begin to experience a serious public backlash for the perversions of their leadership.

Agreed. Focusing on the two-rules allows the suits to make this a doctrinal issue and avoid the true problem. If anything insisting on them changing the rule can be spun as a form of religious persecution and quickly turn into “The governments are turning on us due to pressure from Christendom blah blah blah” and reivigorate the R&F. Keep your damn rules, Watchtower. But report all allegations to the aurthorities. As an aside, if they had any sense, they’d also be able to see the authorities’ findings could provide a second witness.

problem with 2 Witt rule is,no1,mosaic law 2.mosaic law emphasised eyewitnesses on death penalty issues. 3.greek scriptures do not say 2 eye witnesses. only as it applies to elders only not rank and file witnesses.

I've been saying this over and over. Attacking the 2 witness rule is the wrong strategy. Criminal matters should be taken to the proper authorities, then the 2 witness rule doesn't really matter. It seems so simple to me but everyone is hung up on the rule. They can argue it Biblically and honestly they can't just take one person's word over another (in most cases), but actual trained investigators can figure out things that untrained men led by "holy spirit" (lol) can't seem to do. It's almost as though they aren't led by anything but their own ignorance, imagine that. Turn it over to the proper authorities and this all goes away. Watchtower is just to stupid and narcissistic to do so. They don't care about kids, they care about control.

Trying to pin them down on non-reporting is very difficult as they lie about it, deny it and cover it up.

The reason we focus on the two witness rule is because we have them on record, and in print, that they will take an allegation of CSA no further due to this policy.

It also leads to victims being silenced within the community and/or being forced to face their abuser.

The real issue is Witness Culture of no individual's suffering being more important than the reputation of the organization.

Let JWs keep the two witness rule, AFTER they report it to police. God will not kill them for reporting to police.

After all, if someone breaks a window they call the police.

Put this into perspective. How weird would it be if people heard:

"We ABHOR people breaking our windows at the Kingdom Hall..... but will do nothing about it if there are not two witnesses."

They always call police if windows are broken, they do NOT call the police if a child is molested.

Windows? Children? which do they care about the most?

The government doesn't even have to make reporting mandatory. JWs could do it themselves organizationally if they cared about children.

Witness pedantics and hair-splitting may prevent them from investigting allegations but that's why we have police so citizens don't have to.

You are trying to place some sense in an organization that claims that is not part of the world. Looks great on paper, but never gonna happen. That's not what they are after. They have no interest in doing anything other than what they are set to do.

WTBTS also says that, if two separate witnesses reported similar conduct on two different occasions a judicial committee can convict. They fail to even go by their own rules.

I think it is interesting that the U.S. government has used $17 million for hush money on sexual abuse accusation against its congressmen and senators and people are now demanding to know who that tax payer's money was paid to protect. $17 million pales in comparison to what WTBTS has paid out.

WTBTS wants to ignore the problem, put a band-aid on it, and kick it down the road. They would do better to open Pandora's box and get it over with. If they weren't busy and mentally occupied with this distraction perhaps they could come up with a new direction for the organization. Beating the drum that the world is going to come to an end and advertise with carts is not getting them anywhere. 95,000 hours to get one convert?

It would be easy to find one or two GB members to label as an apostate, have them be the fall guy, come clean on the matter, start reporting the problems, change direction, say that Jehovah's spirit was being withheld from his organization. The Boy Scouts had a problem at one time and now they have come clean and are admired because of their stance.

Maybe they need to take some lessons from Joel Olstein's sermons, he seems to be doing great.
