Elders accused of playing rape tape to victim, 15; case goes to Utah Sup. Court

a woman is suing a local congregation ("kingdom hall of jehovah’s witnesses, roy, utah, an unincorporated association"), individual elders and watchtower ny after, she claims, a judicial committee forced her to listen an audio recording of her own rape.

the trial court summarized the facts as alleged by the plaintiff as follows:.

at the time of the judicial committee, plaintiff was fifteen years old.

Lets hope the case gets a full and clear airing in a court. My question to elders

Did you listen to the tape prior to playing it at the 'judical inquiry'?
HM times did you listen to it?
Were you alone when you listened to it?
Which other elders were there when it was played?
HM have discussed this tape and its contents before this became a 'judicial inquiry'?
did you find it arousing individually or as a group?

Such questions would be no less than what has been done to other victims. Lets hope the case is aired and the wt revealed for what it is....once more.

International convention Utrecht this weekend

in an earlier posting gorby wrote about attending the international convention in utrecht this weekend, to keep the family happy and make some observations.. guests were gb member jackson and his assistent van der zande, a dutch helper of the gb.. 42.000+ attenders and +/- 250 baptisers.. the convention theme about "love" was not bad at all, from a christian viewpoint.. jackson and van der zande made a good presentation with humor.. the colorfull witness from arround the word were nice and nice to see.. typical witness doctrine about 1914, king of the north, being obient when your kingdom hall will be sold etcetera were hard to listen to.. but the love theme was not bad, and sometimes oké.. i see a transformation to an evangelical kind of tv church.. ifthe typical jw doctrine about years, endtime, education, blood and armageddon would be downplayed, gorby could see some positive side of jw-ism.. mainpoint is that jw try to show love but on a forced base, because they are told to do so.. but, not a bad convention, and a good, humble part of jackson and van der zande, did not expect this.. i write some positive because it is, what it is.. see your opinion.. gorby.

agreed. but to follow the Christ is not to follow all the dusty Pharisaical rules. and they did like going on about Davids adultery.. If it were revealed he had child sex slaves would they be so keen on him then.?

So it sounds like they are trying to reinvent themselves. or if I can put it another way they are repainting the deck of the Titanic. The law suits will continue and become and more folks will leave as the changes suddenly declare hypocrisy as what was rigid doctrine is shown by their 'new-light' to have never been worth a consideration.

Why doesn’t the Governing Body hold debates to asses the qualifications of a new GB member?

the members have no idea what qualifies someone has to be a member of the governing body.

members know absolutely nothing about new members of the governing body who are appointed.

kenneth cook was the last appointed governing body member in 2018..

They could not hold a debate as the quality of public speaking in wt land is so poor.

Any speaker who is given time uses it up to the second even if he is finished prior.

In any debate there is supposed to be a neutral chair. Nowhere in wt land is there such a person.

and my pet hate, they use 50 words in a droning output when 5 with suitable voice inflection and pauses would do.

No one putting up for the 'office' of gb would dare to say a single letter that was NOT supporting the 'party-line'.

and of course

who would get to vote for these ones..?

august 14th 2019 marks the date that new york state will allow civil litigation for child sex abuse claims against all institutions and individuals for a period of one year, regardless of how long the abuse has occurred.. i'm curious how this will play for wt.. any opinions?.

An older sister had longwinded (surprise surprise) sermons she would attempt to deliver to any poor householder and become upset when they closed down on her saying 'they never let me deliver my sermon.'

One day a visiting bro was introduced to the cong and he gave her a hug.. Well this was a scandal!

The wt as a whole is responsible for these bizarre and rude behaviours as they insist people lock themselves away from outer society, read nothing else, do nothing else eat poorly and end up as we have seen and thereby deliver an appalling 'witness' to the society they live in.

Dangerous promotion of 'Serving where the need is Greater'

both the june and july broadcasts featured sections about serving where the need is greater.

as i recall, my wife watches them as i hover in the background, india and thailand have both been heavily featured.

next, i hear some friends talking about how they are thinking of moving to india.

and as with Russia the gb will cut and run if you end up on the sharp end of the law in the countries you intend to go to.

there is a snapping vicious junkyard dog in my head.

a dog constantly barking, hungry, terrifyingly intimidating, and above all...relentless!.

unless i feed it a constant stream of input - it threatens to eat me alive.. (it is that monster from the id in forbidden planet.).

No not barking.. just... there.. a black dog. Currently it just wanders along near me and there are times when its under my feet.. it drools.. its very presence virtually prevents me doing anything but I must... to attempt anything that involves making anything its presence means I get the measurements wrong..It softly growls for no reason.. I forget stuff. Walk down the street and see woe and destruction.. remember anything as see my life as full of failures many. If school days are recalled its nasty bitch teachers who made a career of ridicule and any spontaneity drummed away from us.

I long I ache to hold some one as a frightened child and receive their help compassion care warmth for some one to say ..well done and reach out to me.

No not a barking dog just an old black one...
