Now predicting increase of anointed?
by jgnat ini came across this nugget in the may 2014 issue:.
"are you moving ahead with jehovah's organization".
....at one time, the anointed remnant were like the little one, but their number grew as other spiritual israelites were brought into gods organization.

Hmm, let's read that entire paragraph.
8. What accounts for the remarkable growth in Jehovah’s modern-day organization?
8 There has been remarkable growth in the number of God’s servants because Jehovah himself is backing his Witnesses.(Read Isaiah 43:10-12.) This increase was foretold in these prophetic words: “The little one will become a thousand and the small one a mighty nation. I myself, Jehovah, will speed it up in its own time.” (Isa. 60:22) At one time, the anointed remnant were like “the little one,” but their number grew as other spiritual Israelites were brought into God’s organization. (Gal. 6:16) Because of Jehovah’s blessing over the years, the increase continues with the gathering of the great crowd.
The rate at which the members of Jehovah's Witness membership (those of the earthly hope) is growing is right around the rate that the world population is growing. The rate at which the "anointed partakers" is growing is much higher!
So what really accounts for the "remarkable growth in Jehovah's modern day organization"?

I would have to agree with jam. You would have to differentiate between born-ins and converts to get an accurate analysis. Obviously, the majority of those who convert to a religion such as Jehovah's Witnesses would have to be sub-par when it comes to critical thinking skills. The ones who are born into the religion and are brainwashed from birth on have an existential crisis waiting for them as they approach adulthood if they do possess an above-average intelligence.
However, if you give any weight to the theological perspective, this is irrelevant to you. After all, he has "hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and has revealed them to babes."

JW. org: "No, we are not a cult. We do not look to any human as our leader."
by Faithful Witness ini know this has been rehashed, time and again, but i saw this interesting blip on jw.org last night, and did a little thinking about it.... jw.
org answers the important question that so many have... are jehovah's witnesses a cult?.
jehovah's witnesses do not look to any human as their leader.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not look to any human as their leader. Rather, we adhere to the standard that Jesus set for his followers when he stated: "Your Leader is one, the Christ." - Matthew 23:10
Why is Jesus pretty much ignored, but Jehovah and the Governing Body are emphasized? Why is everything about Jehovah, with the Governing Body as the sole channel and mediator? Where is Jesus in all this?

Are Men's Rights Laughable?
by Paralipomenon inreading over the woody allen thread i noticed a couple things but didn't want to side track the "discussion".
1) woody allen is creepy.
2) nobody really seemed to care that his ex-wife was abusive towards her children.. an example i think is perfect was the release of twilight where you would see lineups of 30-40 year old women making very inappropriate comments about a 16 year old boy.

Yes, apparently reading is an art form.
Scroll up 5 posts above this one and read what I wrote.
"Women DO automatically get sole custody of children in all 50 US states when the parents are not married. Men have to fight a legal battle in court if they want to be allowed to even see their children and establish any parental rights."

Moustaches vs. beards - one of the contributing factors to losing my cognitive dissonace
by Pacopoolio inas a little background - i was born-in to being a witness, back in '79, in detroit, in mostly black and poor congregations.
baptized when 10-ish, stayed around, was on the fast track to ms, but faded when i moved out at 24ish.. there was a combination of a few things that got me on the road to "freedom" from the cognitive dissonance that kept me "in the truth" for so long.
the main thing was, being an artist and studying marketing, my thinking was patterned to constantly question if i was doing something "correctly," as constant improvement and questioning is what facilitates artistic and mental growth.

Women do not automatically get cusody.
False.
Unmarried Mother's Primary Right To Custody
The unmarried mother is presumed to have the primary or natural right to custody of children born when she is not married. Therefore, she has the legal right to custody, care, and control over the child and her rights are superior to those of the father or any other person.Source: http://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/child-custody-between-unmarried-parents.html
I will not repeat my point one more time. If you want to believe something that does not happen, you are free to do so.
There is no need to repeat your point since it is false.

Has anyone been in a country where the casket is shown at the KH?
When I was a child in the 1980's, we used to have open casket funerals at our Kingdom Hall. This was in the United States.

Women do not automatically get custody!
Women DO automatically get sole custody of children in all 50 US states when the parents are not married. Men have to fight a legal battle in court if they want to be allowed to even see their children and establish any parental rights.
Most women will pass a functional test of parenting over most men. It has nothing to do with gender.
That is a very gender-biased statement. It has EVERYTHING to do with gender.
Let's say an unmarried couple has a 16 year old boy. They suddenly break up, and the mother takes the 16 year old boy with her. The 16 year old boy wants to see his father, but the mother forbids it. The mother has every legal right to do this because she retains sole custody according to the law. But what is the sole basis for her having full parental rights and the father to have absolutely no legal rights to his child? GENDER.

IiT is absolutely false that women automatically get custody. Women never had a right to custody. The law decided that a tender year doctrine would be a good idea. From childbirth to about kindergarten, a child could temporarily reside with its mother b/c judges decided that the child was not doing much in the world. Once the child reached early school age, the father resumed total control. The father decided on education, governess, etc. Women were viewed incapable of raising their children. With the focus on the Equal Protection Clause, the courts adopted a functional approach.
Err... What country do you live in? If the United States, you must be talking pre-1960s. The feminist movement changed everything in family law to where now fathers are treated as second class citizens. Nowadays, men are completely discriminated against in family court based solely upon their gender.
In the overwhelming majority of cases, women DO automatically get custody no matter how old the children are.
