Happy at Bethel - Confirmation that it's Official?
by jw07 ini just came across this photo regarding the 'happy at bethel' video.
seems like confirmation of co-ordination by higher ups.
link - happy at bethel email photo.

It must have been for Family Night (Bethel Talent Show) or for delegate entertainment program for the International Convention back in the Summertime. Those are the only logical explanations, if this letter is to be believed.
Heavies would give approval for usage in those cases, however they would absolutely not give approval for general distribution.
But then again, we have a singing Literature Trolly, so who the hell knows what they wouldn't approve of?

Mobile View
by cappytan injust an fyi, simon.. i use an iphone 6 for mobile access, safari, obviously.. it seems the padding or margin (left and right) for the navbar items is at 0px on the mobile view.
the logo and "hamburger" icon for menu items is right smack up against the viewport.. if this is intentional, then nevermind.
if this is not what was intended, i'll include a screenshot (if i can) to show the layout i'm talking about..

Yeah, it is usable. :) Glad for that. Huge improvement over previous layout (even though I was just a lurker back then.)
I'm sure this takes a bunch of your time. I'm a HTML5/CSS3/PHP "expert", and if you ever need another pair of eyes, let me know.
I say "expert" with quotes, because I am an expert, but it feels weird to refer to myself as such.

I heard they took a cart into a meeting. When the prayer started, the cart got up and wheeled out on it's own! Just like that Smurf doll did that one time! -

The best reasonable, rational, intelligent discussion on religion I've ever seen

Belief in god can never be based on rationality or evidence. It's strange that so many people of faith are so determined to try and prove that their is evidence. I guess deep down their faith is lacking and they are trying to convince themselves.
As a species, most of us are ingrained from birth with the notion that everything has a purpose. Knives are for cutting, blankets are for warmth, seats are for sitting. And, of course, the notion that People are special and are for something.
It's a warm comforting blanket of a thought that we as humans are something greater than what we really are - that there is something beyond the veil, something more than this existence.
However, it is also an imprisoning thought, a thought that breeds extremism, disillusionment, and ignorance.
Accepting that this life may very well be all there is really is a liberating thought. It's scary, but it is also liberating. If these years are the only years you have to your blip of an existence, then what the hell are we doing sitting on our asses? We should be doing all we can to enjoy what life has to offer, live in harmony with our planet and our fellow beings, and try to leave this place better than we found it.
If this life is it, if this is everything, we should care about the survival of our species even more so.
Life is beautiful. Wondrous.
If there is a purpose to life, it should be to be remembered. If there is a hope of living forever, it is a hope that we won't be ordinary and will live on in fond or inspiring memories, even if it is for only a few more generations after our expiration.
Enjoy. Love. Experience. Learn. Create! Inspire. By all means, LIVE.

Could a religion caught up in abuse and fraud possibly be "true"?
by Jonathan Drake ini recently had a discussion with a witness in which we were talking about the catholic church.
i led them out with talk about the fraud and child abuse scandals and everyone was agreeing and making comments about how terrible it is and how obviously wrong they are.
after about 30 minutes of solid rapport building in this manner, even incorporating scriptures regarding some doctrinal errors in their doctrine (catholic), i said this:.

The right-hand column on that page has a ton of information of past cases including the NBC segment on the 16 settled cases in 2007. -

There's a ton of information here, although I don't know if it's a comprehensive list of all the cases: http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/paedophilia.php
