1930s Vertical Phonograph for Bethelites and Pioneers- of passing interest.
by Balaamsass2 injust thought this might be of passing interest to a few members.
we were unpacking some estate items from a 1930s bethelite and were confounded by his vertical phonograph.
lots of old rutherford books, and some trashed rutherford records, but the phonograph was something to behold.

Funny, I had a family member in Bethel in the '70's, and he had a way of getting to know the older Bethelites. A couple of his friends were John? Kurzin and his brother Russ Kurzin. John was an inventor, and was the designer of the phonograph. He was one of the few Bethelites at the time who had a car. He held several patents and had some income from the auto industry. Both John and Russ were very nice and pleasant people. -

Who are the "Inactive"?
by thereishope inthis was my starting point in this journey of rediscovery, and i've made great strides, but here i am again asking the same question.
all this talk re the rc and the shunning of the inactive ones.
there is no announcement made obviously about "shun sister so-and-so, as she is inactive.

I have not reported time in years but still attend a few times a month for family reasons. I am not df or da. Does this mean they won't talk to me when I go to the hall?

slimboyfat joins the Mormons!
by slimboyfat ini know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.

I think it's hilarious that they believe Christ came and preached to the native Americans. Too funny.

Has Robert Ciranko replaced Don Adams as president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania ?
by EdenOne inrobert ciranko has been a "helper" of the governing body in the writing department.. don adams (born 1925, presumably 91 years old now) has been president of the wtbts since 2000. .
however, in recent official posts (april 2016), robert ciranko is identified as "president of the watch tower".
does anybody know what happened and if this is an official change?.

Some African countries have serious communication problems. It is common for the branch to not get reports for 3 months or more. And then get all the reports at once. I am told that is true in Congo DR.

The best assembly I ever attended was a French assembly in the US. I couldn't understand a word. It was great.

Are we sure that there aren't more 'compound'-ish structures?
by BlackSwan of Memphis inwasn't sure where to put this but .... .
so mr bsom and i got to talking and we got to wondering if there aren't other compound like buildings being structured, or if assembly halls have been built with greater living quarters?
the entirety of this situation is really beginning to shape up like the davidians or jim jones.

Some of the Bethel homes (Africa) for instance are much like a bunker. High walls , guards (unarmed), controlled Access. This is for security since the country is unsafe.
