  i do not know if this misquote has been discussed here already.. new catholic encyclopedia says this about jw:.

  "judge" rutherford introduced important changes in the witnesses' creed and transformed the congregational structure of the sect as it was under "pastor" russell into a rigid theocracy.

  the third leader, "brother" nathan h. knorr, gradually replaced the offensive convert-making tactics of the rutherford era by suave manners that have gained the witnesses their current reputation as one of the best-behaved groups in the world.

  I had not seen the encyclopedia entry in the OP, but I am a little surprised by it. It is comparatively biased for an encyclopedia.

  To those who attended, attendance up or down at your memorial?

  interesting to see if there's a noticeable trend in memorial attendance.

  also did they talk more then usual about ones not to partake?

  In many areas they have been renting places to hold the memorial where 3-4 congregations share a hall, and getting them all in one place exceeds the building capacity

  New Memorial Songs Were Very Good, IMO

  i guess we can agree to differ, but i personally found the new memorial songs (147, 149) to be very good, at least from a musical perspective.

  The two songs were not bad, comparing to many they have tried.

  Guitarists probably noticed a misprint on the second song handout, where they put 'capo 3' should have been 'capo 1'

  Seemed low for this congregation, though I didn't hear the count. There were some empty chairs around, which is usually not the case. (mid west US)

  2016 Memorial Done & Dusted

  well on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.

  another great big anticlimax.

  some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

  historically the elders meeting with the circuit overseer has had the following format : outline for meeting including ministerial servants then, after they have been dismissed, discussion of local issues.

  The word “BROAD” and the Australian Royal Commission

  perhaps i am making too much of this, but was anyone else struck with the number of times the word ‘broad’ and ‘broadly’ were used?

  sometimes i wondered if it was due to coaching, in particular when the questioning put a person in a tight spot.

  Is the WT’s Paradise Earth doctrine a delusion?

  the wt’s teaching that humans will live forever on a paradise earth will necessitate that given that there will be no more death, then immortal humans will have to be relocated to other planets in order to prevent the earth from becoming overpopulated.. so how many habitable, earth-like planets are there?more and more habitable, earth-like planets would have to become available on a continuous, never-ending basis ad infinitum as mankind’s population grows given that there will be no more death.. the longevity/sustainability of life on these planets will be limited by the fact that the sun serving these planets will eventually die:https://shar.es/1cko6n.

  They used to teach that at some point in the millennium there would be no more children born. Going further back to the Russell days, they taught that the humans on earth would be sexless.
