Scooby,I'ts nice that you felt good going to the KH for the NON observance of the Memorial.
It's true that the WTS memorial observance is a very emotional time for JWs.
Mostly due to the hype and the UNIQUE teachings of the ocasion by the WTS.
But let's not forget that the WTS is doing nothing but disobeying the Words of the Christ.
Do this in memory of me!
I won't speak for anyone else but to me the WT memorial is nothing but a slap in the face of Jesus.
And let's not forget that the WT memorial is one of the big selling points of the WTS.
The old saying "Actions speak louder than words" is so true.
The WTS puts on a pretty good show to those that don't know them.
But what are the actions of the WTS thruout the years?
Are they actions of a group of Christians that strive to be Christlike thereby trully showing they observe Jesus as their head or have they been the actions of a cultish group that is far more interested in keeping control over their followers?
Yeah. I got an invitation to the memorial .
I disqustingly tore it up and thru it in the trash where I felt it belonged.
But hey. That's just me.
If you were happy being there, good for you. But I hope you don't forget what the WTS really is.
My 2 cents worth.

Back from the Memorial......Special Announcement at the end....
by ScoobySnax inthe special announcement read at the end was an invite for any interested ones (tm) to ask if they wanted a bible study.....and that a special meeting will be held next sunday in all the congregations worldwide, and an invite was given for all to attend.
i loved going and was good to see all the brothers and sisters again, the po who gave the talk made a bee line for me straight after the closing prayer, straight off the platform (i had to stand as there were no seats) and asked to speak to me, and directed me to the back of the hall, i thought here we go......jc convening shortly......but no he said the wt society in london had contacted him as i'd wrote them asking for the magazines, and he would be happy to drop by and had done, but never found me at home.
so we arranged a date for him to call next week.. the hall was packed, and from my standing point i had plenty of opportunity to have a scan about, despite being horrified that their were brothers there who were betting looking than even me ( in my newly bought outfit!

"You're an apostate!"
by Swan inwhat would you do in a situation like this?.
you're in a hurry, so want to just grab something quick for lunch in a nearby fast food restaurant and then eat back at your desk while you work.
there was a woman standing in front of the condiments area.

It's too bad that she probably doesn't really know the definition of apostate.
Just what she was told it meant from the cult.
Yea. JWs can be quite rude. Can't they?
When I see some JWs out and about, perhaps in a store, coffee shop, where ever there are other people around, I go out of my way to say hello. How are you?
I enjoy the looks on their faces because they apear to be like deer caught in the headlights of a car. Not knowing what to do or say.
There was one time I was asked if I was coming back to the 'truth'?
I started to tell the person that I had done some investigation into the 'truth' and I would be more than happy to tell you what I found.
She put on a blank stare so I said I'll tell you about it when we have some time.
I don't think she's going to find time but maybe I'll bump into her again in a public place and just start unloading info on her.
I wonder what her reaction will be?

If the religion claims to be Gods mouthpiece, and it claims get its understanding of scripture from God, then of coarse it would have to be perfect.
If it can df.people from their ranks for not agreeing with all its present teachings, then of course it would have to be perfect.
If it can change its teachings over and over and over again and claim that God gave them 'new light' then of course it would have to be perfect.
So to sum it up.
Yep. True religion would have to be perfect if the leaders claim it is Gods one true religion on earth.
Unless of course the religion in question is saying God doesn't know what is true therefore His religion wouldn't know what is true.

Are You Still SEARCHING For The "Truth"?
by minimus infor many of us, we are "all searched out".
i'm presently, not looking for all that much.
are you yearning for "truth"?
-
neyank
If you mean Are we still searching for the TRUE religion, I would have to say no.
As I don't believe there is any ultimate true religion on this planet at this time.
Every and I do mean EVERY religion on earth is man made and man controlled.
Religion is mans way of explaing God.
And as we have learned the explanations have been pretty screwed up.
Plain and simple.

Why do the JW's not Believe in Hell?
by Tirisilex ini may have asked this question before awhile back but i was not able to find it in the search.
other than what the nwt provides for information.. how do the jw's provide proof for this no hell belief?

The doctrine of a fiery, burning hell that God will send you to for all eternity for not following a certain course was used as a method of controlling people.
The same way as the WTS doctrine that God will destroy everyone at Armageddon unless they are afiliated with the WTS.
It's all about control.

,"Such love was evident at our conventions. From June through December 2003,delegates from more than a hundred lands traveled to 32 international conventions held on six continents.Missionaries, international servants, and Bethelites in foreign service were interviewed at district and international conventions."
Well now we see how JWs show Christlike love.
Is it feeding the hungry as Jesus said to do?
Is it taking care of the homeless?
Is it taking care of the elderly?
Is it doing anything that Jesus said His followers would be doing?
Is it being Christ like in any way shape or form?
NO it is not.
Because the WTS has decided that Jesus' commands that His followers should be doing these things don't have any bearing on them, they have decided that they would show love by attending conventions.
Yes brothers and sisters. Our love is shown by attending all meetings and purchasing and selling our books and magazines.
Paraphrasing here.
No. You need not feed that starving person there. Show your love. Offer them the latest magazines.
Yes brothers. That homeles person would shure be uplifted by having the latest books.
Never mind that fatherless child brothers and sisters. They will not be interested in our publications.
And JWs say that the WTS is not a book publishing company masquerading as a religion?
Oh yes. They are certainly doing a lot of meeting attendence. Attending many many sales meetings.
And going out distributing many books and magazines.
It's to bad that they are waisting thier time with doing this because distributing books and magazines that has constantly changing info in them, IS NOT preaching Christ' message.
And they are NOT doing what Jesus said that His followers would be doing.
So at least we know that the WTS has a different meaning for the word love.
Love: attending all meetings.

When did the watchtower become a cult?
by Gadget infrom looking at various cult information, and warning signs of an unsafe group i beleive the jw's to be a cult, but how did they become one?
it started as a religious periodical in the 1870s, and somehow progressed to being a faith, a religion, and then from there progressed to become a cult.
when did this happen, and how?
-
neyank
They became a cult when they decided that they knew more about what God is and wants than He does.
