as we have all seen, the elders seem to be finding all the inactive, and trying to make us make a choice.
we are either for or against the wts, and they want us to tell them so they know what to do with us.. the question i have is, how hard are they trying to find us?
will it be a simple phone call on the card that was in file?
All I can say is in my case they are trying.

"they" refers to the watchtower society, the elders, the brothers and sisters, etc.
when you look at how much control has been exerted over us over the years, you can't help but be amazed.
for example, if we had a major snowstorm in the area and the entire state was told by the governor to "please not go out", unless the call was made by the elders, the meeting was still on and you were expected to attend.
""THEY" failed miserably in measuring up. That's why "THEY" no longer have my @$$ occupying any of "THEIR" chairs at the Kingdom Hall."
Scully,
I like this statement.
Yes, the WTS did fail miserably in showing Jws that they are Gods chosen org.
The control factor is one of the main problems ( besides their false teachings)
that the WTS has.
They are overbearing in so many ways.
The list of Dos and Don'ts that the org. has just gets longer and longer as time goes on.
Everything from what books you can and cannot read to what is apropriate clothes to wear to who you can and cannot asociate with to whether or not college is acceptable to making sure that you and your loved ones spend every free moment you have in the WTS business. ie: being at all the meetings (sales meetings), getting out and trying to sell the WTS (books and teachings) to the unsuspecting public, ect...........
I think the bottom line is, the WTS does not want their followers to have any kind of enjoyment outside of the WTS.
It's not surprising that JWS for the most part can't wait for God to come down and wipe humanity out.
After all, JWS have NO enjoyment here. Nothing to look foward to here.
They aren't even allowed to have goals outside of WTS goals to reach for.
What goals does the WTS give them to reach for?
Pioneer, MS, Elder, Do, Co, ect...
All for the WTS. FREE labor for a book publishing company.
It's no wonder that depresion is rampart umong JWs.
All they can do is be at the meetings and be out in service selling the WTS.
The WTS has truly shown how unChristian they are.
But like any club or group, there will always be those that WANT to be told what to do.
Reminds me somewhat of the trials the goverments had with the German soldiers after WWII. Anyone remember the excuse the soldiers had for commiting the atrocities?

ludicrous as it may seem, the watchtower society may be right?...
yeah?
as so much of their doctrines are based on interpretation.. the watchtower society may have interpreted the bible... correctly!
"Is it better to practice a wrong religion, or not to practice any at all?"
If a person doesn't care if the religion he/she is part of is true or not then I don't believe the person realy wants truth.
If that's the case, the person might as well just close their eyes and pick any religion from a list.
Because it sounds like the person just wants to belong to something.
Anything. So I guess it wouldn't matter if it's true or not.
Just wants to belong to a club with it's own charactoristics.

"Any thoughts?"
Yes. I happen to have a thought or two on this subject.
#1 thought.
Doesn't the history of the WTS have any efect on whether or not they are Gods chosen org.?
Let's think on this for a moment.
Do you think that someone that claims to speak for God should be able to get their teachings correct?
You say it's all interpertation.
That is correct. It is.
Have you noticed how many times they have to make adjustments in their interpertation? And each and every new interpertation is considered THE TRUE interpertation.
So much so that you would be df. if you did not agree with them and said so.
How would you have felt if one of your loved ones needed an organ transplant
during the time when the WTS taught that it was wrong to get one, and that loved one died because of their(WTS) teaching against it.
And then just a few years later they changed that teaching.
Would you have considered the WTS as a group thast speaks for God and has the 'truth'?
Lets look at the fact that the WTS has a need to control EVERY aspect of a JWs life.
Even to the point of DEMANDING that JWS refrain from certain activities in the bedroom.
There is nowhere in the Bible that bedroom activities between a married couple are discussed. So what right does the WTS have to make rules about this?
And lets not forget that the WTS tells the JWS what they can and cannot read.
If the WTS was Gods true org. why are they woried that the JWs might read something negative about the org.?
Do they have something to hide?
Picture this.
A couple of people come to your door wanting to preach something they call good news. They tell you of a bunch of good things to come.
They tell you that they know the real truth as to what the scriptures teach.
And they proceed to tell you that just about every teaching that you heard on the Bible is wrong.
That they will be more than happy to straighten you out.
The only thing they don't tell you is the price they want paid for their service is enslavement to a book publishing company.
They leave out all the negatives about the org.: the false techings, false prophecies, being told that you must earn Gods favor by selling books that have useless info in them, that once you take the plunge (baptism) you will no longer be able to ask questions that might put the org in bad light, ect...ect...ect........
Just a couple of thoughts on this.

can you imagine him beating bush?
not me.
The jury that let O.J. Simson off will vote for him.

someone in chat asked for this.
i don't play this one very often anymore, and that's why it's not quite up to par.

"We cannot close our minds and our hearts to something just because it is vastly different than what humans have been subjected to through religious dogma and corrupted written history. When we see the falicy of all of it, our minds are able to conceive of and to accept a more logical history of man, and the more reasonable future for mankind as we fulfill our destiny among the stars"
Sentinal,
I agree with your viewpoint.
There's a lot in existence that we know nothing about.
A question that I've been wondering is, have we as humans been wrong about our perception of life and how it got here?
And what would we do or how would we react if we were to find out that we, the human race, the most inteligent and advanced species on this planet, was nothing more than cave men compared to other life that might be out there?
That posibility would certainly rock our world.

Hi reporter,
I don't have anything pro or con to say about your post.
What I will say tho is that the 12th planet (Nibiru) theory is becoming more known
and acknowledged.
Whether it's true, I don't know.
There are lots of sites dealing with this topic out there.
I've read a few of them.
The existance of Nibiru and a superior race of beings afiliated with it passing thru our solar system every 3600 yrs. would answer a lot of questions and also give rise to even more.
I've been looking at a site which I'm finding quite interesting.
Looking at some of the scriptures from the OT, a person could see how they could have been talking about alien beings and ships.
The jury is still out on that tho.
I'm finding the subject to be very interesting.
It could be because I like science fiction.

my most painful confession
note to simon: i will use some expletives, but i hope that they will be retained as this is intended to be an otherwise civil and thoughtful post to all my fellow ex-jws.
please read on, as this is most painful.
Get better soon Jim.
As others have stated, I also have enjoyed your posts.
You can tell a persons worth by the friends he/she has.
Jim acording to these replies, you're a rich man.

you have been following the news for weeks on iraq and wonder, "when will we attack and get this thing done?
" finally we invade and the war is in full swing.
the economy, which has been struggling for months now, finally caves in and major retailers fold as of the results of an extremely poor holiday shopping season.
Hi whyhideit,
Your scenario could very well happen.
You asked:
"how would you feel? Would it waken up some hidden fear inside of you to run back to the Kingdom Hall? Would it make you think this is the end? It is easy to say, "I would never go back" when all is going well, but history has proven that life can change with no notice"
If it did happen, why would some return to the WTS?
The WTS has proven beyond a doubt that they are a man made and man run orginization.
They have gotten most of their teachings wrong and the jury is still out on some other teachings.
The WTS is NOT the only doomsday cult screaming " The sky is falling. The sky is falling."
So if it did happen it could be the fulfilment of Biblical prophecies wich have NOTHING to do with showing that any doomsday cult is a true religion.
