There are many things, as we all know, that prospective JWs are not told until after baptism.
They are not told about the changes in teachings over the years.
They are not told of the failed prophecies.
They are not told that you must have and use the same concience as every other JW.
They are not told about the diferent rules that a JW must conform to or they will be booted out.
They are not told that if something from JW land goes against your concience, you must ignore your concience and blindly follow the WTS.
They are not told that if they do not perform whithin the WTS standards, they will be looked upon as weak and bad asociation.
They are led to believe that there are some things that you can decide for yourself to believe and go along with until after taking the plunge and you learn diferently.
Prospective JWs are taught NONE of the negative aspects of the WTS because the book conductor knows there might be a chance that the prospective JW will say NO WAY!
So basically, the WTS we thought we were joining isn't what we were led to believe it was.
So I think those of us who were baptised without knowing the real truth behind the WTS,
which is almost all of us, should be able to just have our baptisms anulled because we joined under false pretenses.

Are There Things You Didn't Understand About JW's Until AFTER Baptism?
by minimus inone of the things the society prides itself over is that jw's are not only preachers but also teachers.
jw's are told that they have the "best education in the world".
jw's are taught for a number of months before they are allowed to get baptized.

What you didnt have to worry when you were a JW
by berylblue in"the truth will set you free.
that is what we were always told when learning the wonderful bible truths tm.
freedom from ancestor worship, worrying about an eternity in hell (well, now you had to worry about getting nuked at a. but never mind), if the world would be destroyed in a nuclear holocaust, etc.. what are some of the things you felt you did not have to worry about when you were in, but do now?.

Hi plum,
You said:
"I've been here 2 years and posted over a year trying to be supportive of everyone but some things are even too obvious for even me to not see."
I've read enough of your posts to know that you're an inteligent person.
So I would like to ask, what it is that is too obvious for even you to see?
If you choose to become an active JW again, you know you will have to go door to door telling unsuspecting people that the WTS has Gods truth and they must become a JW or be destroyed by God.
Will you be able to do this after learning the truth about the WTS and what they stand for?
Will you be able to forget about those that died as a result of a false teaching about organ transplants?
(a teaching they changed so therefore it did not come from God.)
Can you forget about those that died because of the teaching about blood?
(which they are slowly changing their mind about)
Can you foget that they have said their teachings come from God but they keep changing them over and over again?
Can you forget how unloving and cruel they really are?
(thereby showing that they do not have the love that Jesus said His followers would have)
Can you justify going to 5 sales meetings a week and going out selling magazines with constantly changing information in them and telling people that these things are what Jesus spoke of as doing good works?
Can you ignore the blood that is on the hands of the WTS because of the way that it has treated abuse victoms?
Like any other man made and man run religion they are evil and their actions show it.
If you go back to them, that is of course your decision.
But for the life of me, I can't understand how anyone can go back to something they know to be what the WTS is.
So can you help us all understand?

Are They Losing the Old, Too?
by metatron ini was quite surprized when a relative of mine needed a ride to the district assembly and couldn't find one.. what surprized me was two older sisters, who have been utterly faithful over the years, separately said they aren't going.. we already know the watchtower is losing witness kids enmasse but this looks unusual.
what's left for old-timers anyway?
all the urgent depth of doctrine is gone - the society can't defend anything.

"I wish this could be an xjw project--to go visit and comfort the elderly JWs who have been abandoned by the org. Not to convert, just to visit, bring a meal, listen to memories."
Kgfreeperson. This sounds like a good idea however,If the elderly JWs are still believing in the rubish the WTS spews, then they won't have much to do with an unbeliever.
Even if the unbeliever acts more like a Christian than the so called brothers and sisters.
There was a statement I heard from an older JW when I was still entrapped in it.
He said to a person that was just coming back into to the org.:
"I'll asociate with you as long as you are attending the meetings."
Well needless to say, that person no longer atends meetings and because this elderly person put a price tag on their associating together, that elderly person lost out on a friendship.

Senator Suggests Burying Terrorists with Pig Parts

Ok Hamas.
Until I can find the article that states the percentage of Muslim terrorists to other groups I'll have to reword this statement:
"the facts are that most terrorist groups are from Muslim countries"
Let me make a minor adjustment.
The facts are that a LARGE percentage of terrorist groups are from Muslim countries.
OK? :-)
BUT!!!
As soon as I find the article, I'm going to change that statement back.

It does soundlike crazy talk.
Doesn't it?
But no matter how crazy it sounds, it could work as a deterant to keep certain terrorist groups at bay.
Yes yes. The Muslims are upset by this but the facts are that most terrorist groups are from Muslim countries.
A few years ago the news brought out how terrorist groups were attacking Russia.
What did the Russians do?
The news stated that the terrorists that they caught were rounded up and were to be shot.
But before they were executed they were doused in pig parts so that the terrorists believed that they would not be able to enter Heaven and enjoy their fill of virgins.
Then, they were shot.
The message that went out to the Muslim terrorists was if you screw with us, you aint getting into Heaven.
According to that news segment, terrorist acts dropped coniderably.
Peoples feelings might be hurt over this kind of talk, but this is not play war.
When you're dealing with the kind of mentality these terrorists have, you have to do something that they will understand.
It's a shame but the facts are that they are more than willing to kill every man, woman and child to get what they want.
Will we lay down and let them destroy us or will we do what needs to be done to prevent that?

Let the shunning begin!
by Cicatrix inboy, this has just been my lucky week.
twice in one week i was the recipient of "active shunning" by former congregation members.. scene one-the local discount food place where all the blue collar folks (and a few smart upper crust ones) buy their food.
i'm busy grocery shopping and sister zealous comes marching down the other side of the aisle, dutifully studying the cans on said shelf.

I understand that the shunning done by the WTS sales people harms people and breaks up families but I find it comical when they do it to me.
Here you have people that really do think that they are Gods chosen people because they go to 5 sales meetings a week, get out and try to sell magazines that have constantly changing information in them and worship their leaders as if they really speak for God.
While at the same time ignoring what Jesus said would be the mark of His true followers:
If they have love for each other.
Ignoring what Jesus said His followers should be doing: feading the hungry, sheltering the homeless, taking care of the elderly, ect, ect.........
The JWs do NONE of these things.
They worship the WT org. as if it is God Himself which IS idol worship. No ifs ands or buts.
The JWs worship on orginisation that has had to change their teachings over and over again.
The JWs worship an orginisation that IS guilty of being a false prophet.
So the JWs shun former members when they no longer believe or wish to worship the WT idol?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I really am laughing just thinking about it.
They are members of a cult that has proven itself to be just that over and over again.
So their shunning really is nothing short of humerous.
And the real funny thing is that if the WT cult tells the JWs to no longer shun, then like any loyal member of a cult they would fall in line and no longer shun.
Any one remember the game Simon Says?
It fits the WT cult.
Doesn't it?

What does SOON mean to a JW
by Noumenon inwas reading some early 1990 wt articles relating to the un, and was amused at the expression 'soon' god will and do this and do that etc.
it made me wonder just what does this expression mean to the average jw.
how relative is this word 'soon' and 'shortly'.

What does SOON mean to a JW?
Soon to them means anytime between now and the end of eternity.
