  Earlier this week I received a request to connect through Skype. Since I work with international students, I generally accept these unsolicited invitation. The next minute I get an international Skype video call from who knows where - Probably Nigeria - from a young man with no shirt and in his underwear trying to convince me that he needed my bank account information so he could transfer millions of dollars to me.

  The sales pitch was unconvincing and I immediately blocked him. But my experience falls in line with your story. These people just don't even try to be convincing.

  does anyone know about an assembly or convention or whatever they call it now in the seattle-tacoma area in the last couple of weeks?

  i have a ditzy cousin who posts on fb that the assembly was "promoting peace and the sun.

  i'm sure they were really promoting money and the gb but my cousin is so newly brainwashed she has her own twist on everything.

  Very interesting story. Thank you for posting this. Keep us updated on the progress. Even if you accept the premise that churches should be tax exempt - this does not mean that the complete supply chain used to service the church should be tax exempt.

  Isn't the simplified version for those with limited reading skills? Perhaps they thought that disfellowshipping is too big a word with too many syllables.

  Asshole Atheism – Not for me, now or ever.

  to start off with let me clarify that by asshole atheism i am not referring to strong atheism or any other type of upfront atheism.

  what i am referring to is the belligerent, hateful atheism that smacks of trolls and other types who want to derail conversation or comments at any cost..

  i enjoy hearing comments from both sides of the subjects of theism, nationalism or politics, especially from those who have intense opinions.

  One of the reasons I don't consider myself an atheist is because of the elitism - or as you describe "asshole-ism" - that emanates from way too many atheists. When asked if I am an atheist, my response is that I am not one of the "cool kids" and thus do not subscribe to their asshole theories.

  when i first came to this forum i was of the belief that those of us who were still in due to family reasons were few in numbers perhaps one in a thousand in the jws.

  We need to develop a secret hand shake or phrase so we know who is living on the dark side, but still in the heart of the Borg. It has been many years since I went to my last meeting; but while in, I was sure that I was surrounded by those of similar thinking - we just didn't know.
