i left in 2006. i seem to vaguely recall that the written review was no more but i can't say for sure.. so, do they still do it?
was (is) it a waste of time?
i used to hate it..
I remember as a kid in the 1960s where they would grade the papers. I guess that was when we were receiving a college education at the meetings.
i figured i'd shut the site down for a couple of hours to encourage everyone to do their xmas shopping.
the error message was a subtle hint, that's what "500 error" means ... go shopping.. whatever rumours you hear, it definitely wasn't that someone deployed a quick update before going on a 1.5 hour car ride to pick someone up and didn't think that the page they tested, to check it was all working after the update, happened to be cached.
no siree bob, not that, na hah.. anyway, you're welcome for the extra chance to, erm, shop..
Merry Christmas.
i am agnostic.
i will count how many agnostics, atheists and christians that are reading this forum regularly.
please answer my question.
I do not fit into any of these categories.
any elder has never asked me that question so far but i want to be prepared to answer that question if any of them ask me that question in the future.
i hope that they will never ask me that question.
any suggestions on how to answer that question would be very much appreciated.
I notice you say "the organization" my response is.... Sure, why not. Whatever. BTW, what was the question again?
i remember when i was about 17, i started shunning an older brother because he was disfellowshipped.
when i graduated high school, he pulled me aside and said " i know you are not supposed to talk to me, but i want you to have this" it was a gift that he had custom made for me.
i was so blown away, we never even had a real conversation before.
There were good people within the organization. I can single out three individuals that acted toward me in a very positive and meaningful way. Their actions changed the course of my life. One of these was a JW. So I guess I would have to answer positively to your question.
i bet most witnesses could not explain their blood policy, their understanding of the slave, and even simple biblical doctrines....they are an embarrassment to any old timer..
A Believer,
Yeah says you. I know what I preach.
Excellent! I doubt it, but as long as you believe, god bless.
ok, the bible is a fascinating book of fairy tales, so we move on..e. zolfagharifard, some guy states "humans will be very different creatures in just 1000 years from now due to climate change, artificial intelligence and genetic mutations are all set to transform our bodies in drastic ways.
a mixture of biology and machine on the inside.
this is only 1000 years from now, what the hell will humans look like in 100000 years????
No matter what humans will be like then, you can be sure that someone will be preaching the end is just around the corner.

As a child growing up there were a few in the congregation that really got into the detail of the belief system. My mother was one of these few. I always enjoyed listening to the conversations she would have with others of like mind. While ultimately my belief system went a different direction, I had a very high respect for those who took the time to try to understand the detail of their belief system.
I have no respect for those who who took no time to understand the detail of what they believed. This status probably describes 99% of current JWs. It is impossible to have a conversation with these people because they have no idea what they believe, and more importantly - why they believe what they say.
with the intention of spending less time working and more time in f.s i saw this many times.
an ex c.o started a carpet cleaning business with the charter being spending less time working more time in f.s.
he has long since passed away and the company is now huge being the major player in flood resteration and employing 100's of people one of the owners i spoke to recently was sick due to using to many chemicals but carries on becouse he loves the money even though he's worth millions.
I have see the "brothers" follow two basic tracks in business. The first being multi level marketing. This almost always ends in disaster. The business continues to until the marketers reach their credit limit on the credit cards when they buy their inventory.
The other being some sort of cleaning or other service related business. A person can eke out a living doing this. But I have never seen anyone get rich. I always hear about those that get rich with a cleaning business, but never met any of these people. Nor have I reviewed their financial statements.
We had an elder with a TrimLine franchise. I understand that ended in disaster. There were a number of brothers involved in the carpet cleaning business. I forget the name, but with all story's of wealth, I never saw any of it. Just a lot of very hard work with little payback.
With my financial background as a CPA, an brother asked me to review his books in his cleaning business. He was convinced that he was making a fortune, but from what I saw, he was barely making enough to pay off the capital investments of the machines.
Starting and maintaining a small business is very hard work. It requires skills beyond the scope of most people. I admire those who succeed. Unfortunately, the religion creates one additional barrier to success.
