It's hard to say... really hard... when I talk to witnesses and tell them I just can't stand all the man made rules and they respond with things like "we only have two rules... love your god with your whole heart. and love your neighbor as yourself... the rest are just guidelines." I think they either have to be retarded, brainwashed or plain lying... I mean they do realize I grew up in it and have an elder for a father, right? They just can't possibly be that stupid to really believe that or expect me to... I think most of them know what is right and wrong acccording to the FDS... they just have to constantly lie to themselves to accept it and to continue in the twoooth...

On A Scale Of 1 to 10 How Much Knowledge Does A Jehovah's Witness Have About Their Religion?
by minimus inyears (many decades) ago, most jws knew what their religion taught.
they could go toe to toe with a minister or priest and make some good points.. i believe today's witness knows little about most of the convoluted teachings and revisions of the "truth".
yesteryear's witnesses got a 9/10.

Question for the men
by SafeAtHome ini'd like the input of the guys, maybe some of you who have been married or in a serious relationship for some time.
if you were having an affair and your wife found out about it, would you want her to tell you she knew?
would it serve a purpose, that is, make you end the affair, or on the other hand, push it over the edge to be with the other person?

I personally wouldn't want to know if my wife was cheating... this is because I love her very much, and though I would like to think I could forgive her I just don't know if I could honestly do so...
As far as the OP's question... I don't think I'd ever cheat just 'cause sex has never been a huge deal for me.... though I enjoy the hell out of my wife enjoying herself... and it is more a spiritual thing I enjoy with the love of my life... but if I did and she knew about it... yeah, I'd want her to talk to me...
now onto the emotional affair part... WTF is this anyways? I personally am very close with a few women and have emotionally intimate relationships with them... I guess I'm lucky to have a wife who respects this and loves me for it... even more reason not to stick my dick somewhere it shouldn't be...

hello all... from the new guy...
by wearewatchingyouman ini've been a lurker on this forum and others like it for a while... it's been a great resource for research... i finally decided to join one and found this one to be the best.... born and raised fourth gen. jw... dad's an elder and missionary... we did special needs work when i was a kid... mom was dfed when i was a young teen... usual story for a born in... half family jw half not on both mom and dad's side... we have some high rankers and some annointed in the family tree... brother is @ bethel... i left when i was 18 never baptised never a publisher... just played the role of respectful son until i could fade away as to not jepardize dad's position... a skeptic privately from a young age...blah blah blah.... .
anyways i'm here mostly just to socialize, debate dogma, learn from others and and give loving support.... 30 yr old dude...as far as my current beliefs i'm what you might call an agnostic theist.... anyways that's enough blabbing for now... just wanted to say hey and give a little intro....

sorry it took me so long to reply guys... apparently there is a 10 post maximum within the first 24 hrs... I would have better used them had I known.....
@ABS-I don't know why it took me so long to join, but I just felt like I had used the site as a lurker long enough and it was time that I added to it instead of just took from it...
@totally ADD-I came up with it when I joined a site called abovetopsecret.com... it's a conspiracy site but it haolds an awesome off topic faith and theology section along with a section called conspiracy in religion... definitely worth a look... as a lurker there I was constantly reading posts from paranoid people who thought aliens, the govt etc. were watching them so I found it comical... I figured it fit here too since it's a probability some asshole is watching this place to try and figure out who everyone is...
@uncle punky- I'm a big punk fan myself.... listening to Operation Ivy nopw actually.... you can call me whatever you want... "don't call me white"....... we'll see if you get that one....hahahaha
@quandry-agnostic means lack of knowledge.... theism is the belief that at least one deity exists... basically I believe in God but my faith isn't based on knowledge, reason or logic... because IMO, and from experience, the concept of God is unknowable, unreasonable and illogical to the human mind.... at least mine anyways... yet I still believe because the need to seek and become closer to that higher power that I feel all around and within me is undeniable... as far as theism vs deism... theists usually believe God has a hand in what is currently happening... deists believe God just started the process set the laws of nature and left it up to us....
I hope that clears up your question... if you have more or I wasn't clear please let me know!

of course... amazing woman! I'm one of the lucky ones I guess... somehow I have great relationships with all my family... I'm not really sure how I pull this off, cause I'm pretty frank about my beliefs, I really can't complain... all things considered my dad has always been pretty cool... and he's a great grandfather towards my kids... I think this had a lot to do with me being honestly skeptical yet respectful from a young age...

USA...
I find it much more probable that there is a supreme power that started the ball rolling, set the laws of nature, and let us run with it... but I also wouldn't be suprised if there was some sort of intervention at times as well ... so I guess you could say I'm agnostic in the regard of theism vs deism too... `
Do you run JWfacts.com?

Saw some JWs this am! Couldn't stop laughing
by Free!! inthis morning on my way to the office i decided to stop at the gas station to get some coffee.... as i am pulling into the parking space i see this woman w a haircut from the 80's the typical below the knee skirt and long sleeve shirt (is a 105 degrees over here in the shadow).... i immediatly knew she was a jw... she had the latest wt in her hands..... she skipped me and approached a group of young mexican laborers that were resting in the back of a truck... but... as soon as i walked out of the gas station... guess who was waiting for me???
the jw!!!
she wanted to do a presentation.. i looked at her and w/o saying a word i started laughing so hard the guys in the truck started laughing as well... she just looked at me and still kept trying to push her literatrash!!

funny... I love throwing that word out there when I just want a good laugh....
although I find it much more fun to lead them on w/ some story about how I was just praying someone would show me God after taking a hit off the crack pipe and then start speaking in tongues and violently convulsing... it's good to throw a beelzebub in there every once in a while too... then get up and say "thank the Lord God Jesus Christ Almight God you've saved me I'm born again."... thank them and walk away...
ok so truthfully I've only done this once... but oh my God their look of fear and confusion... classic...
