You like simple, well the Legal wolves were at the door, from more direction than one. Beyond that it is not simple. It is purposely obscured: that is the meaning and intention of obfuscation. When ASSET PROTECTION is the intent, more is better.
One can look through Yearbooks over the years and see the different times from time to time for foreign entities. YB's are an intersetign and overlooked source of info.

The real issue here is that Gibbon's is considered to be the relevant authority on the history of the Romans and the Roman Empire. I found that to be the case when I wrote a term paper on the Roman Empire. Forty years could have changed that, but at the time he was the giant in the field.
WTS's typical mechanism of quoting out of context and/or selectively is evident; but we can't hold that against Gibbons

When I saw Gibbons, I guessed "Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire". Your mention of the early Christian times homes in on that. Since no one has declared or fully disclosed it by name, I shall.
Hmmm... "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire"; slightly off; since I haven't opened its covers for 40 years, I'm going to plead not being current.
I've recently been reading the court cases on the legal basis for how they defend Disfellowshipping; those are interesting. I understand the main [legal] doctrine (Ecclesiastical Abstention) that supports WTS, but I find a minor discrepancy in the supporting arguments, even so.

if you believe that jesus returned invisibly, i'd like to know why you still cling to that wt dictate.. but my question is more for those who believe the return is yet to come.. according to scriptures, jesus appeared to many people after his resurrection, but the acension was not a "grand send off".. in acts it says that he will return in like manner.
several scriptures say he will come in the clouds with great glory; that does not seem like the way he left, at least from what we have of scriptural infomation.
do you think that all will see his coming, but that he will personally appear only to his followers?.
In/on a fire belching, smoke spewing chariot: for which DMV and AQMD will give him several options-
1) Park it.
2) Fix it.
3) Sell it to the state, for 1000$, redeemable @ one of the scrapyards on the attached list.

because i am going back to school to study what i always wanted to, biblical studies!
i am hoping this will eventually lead to a theology degree.. remember how the wt scoffs at people saying they attended theology schools?

i was recently thinking back upon some of my unusual memories of being in the organization.
one of them was of the dodger stadium "meat market".. we used to attend our district conventions at dodger stadium in los angeles.
for those of you who arent familiar with the stadium, dodger stadium has a very large level with blue seats - which is the largest level within the stadium.
About 20 years ago, I took my visiting parents to a session of a DC @ Dodger Stadium. I took off for lunch for most of the sessions but during intermission was sitting alone and minding my own business. A "sister" (who I obviously had never seen before) came up to me and GOT PHYSICAL. I was dressed neatly, "business casual", no tie. I had longer hair than is JW acceptable, but not excessive.
These ladies are DESPERATE!!!
I posted that elsewhere. They didn't have to have the "blue level promenade" to go into action
BTW, my understanding of the word promenade and its origin is a Latin custom of walks in such locations as to display one's attractiveness and availability to those of the opposite sex.
I believe that it is incumbent upon any half-A$$'d assembly to have a PROMENADE DECK

i've been watching over this elder/pioneer couples kid who is a neighbor of ours.
i've been doing this a lot over the past week or two.
i just feel it helps get this poor girl away from service all the time and i like kids anyways.
I do know inactive sister married a worldly guy, he became an elder, she is still inactive!
