  Need advice on getting DA'd

  i spoke with my mom this weekend.

  i told her i was going to da myself.

  i no longer wish to be a jw or have any dealings or ties.

  Cygnus has a point. They have such power over you because you give it to them. I recommend that you take back the power. I do understand that you don't want to be cut off from your family or to hurt them.

  I wouldn't be concerned about government intervention with any religion in the U.S. You don't attend JW meetings, so you're no longer a "church member" (to use the vernacular)anyway. Most of us on this forum agree that it's better to just drift away and not to take any formal action as far as DA'ing yourself.

  Best wishes with your decision, whatever it may be. I don't envy you.

  My interview with Jehovah's Witnesses

  i know i said i wouldn't post here again because of the way i made everyone upset over alanf,but i thought you all might want to know what took place and i do need some advice.. .

  yesterday i took a little time out to talk with jehovah's witnesses.

  at first they were more than happy to answer my questions.

  Danni,

  Please do be careful. If you put questions in writing, I can see them asking for sources of any information you provide about cases. Re-victimizing people who have already had their lives shattered by abuse / molestation is not what you want to achieve.

  Thanks for asking us about how to proceed. Be very careful. Anything you say can make them go hunt down victims and interrogate them and ruin their lives even more.

  If they want your questions in writing, their answers should also be in writing.

  Having things in writing is sound. However, it is a courtesy that they do not offer their own if an individual JW finds himself before a judicial committee or disfellowshipped. NOTHING is in writing.

  I was not DF'd. But feel free to avoid me like the plague. I would not want to face the Lord on the judgment day and tell him that the likes of you found me to be an acceptable associate.

  What do I do?.......

  i'm so upset the more i read and find out about the society.

  its all hard to take for me but i'm accepting it more and more.

  the problem i have is that i want so bad to tell my mom what i have found out.

  Take it slowww. It may sound strange to you, but I recommend that you attend Al-Anon meetings. Al-Anon is for people who are family and friends of alcoholics. However, it is also for anyone who is in a situation where they have no control. You can learn to let go and allow the individual to find their own way out of addiction. You will have greater peace of mind as well. You will be supportive and loving but not feel that you must be confrontational.

  police in waterloo, iowa have confirmed that longo was in waterloo a few days ago.

  his suv was seen several places, including hwy.

  380 between waterloo and cedar rapids.

  Andi, he allegedly killed his wife and 3 (?) children in Oregon. He is an ex-JW. He had embezzled from his employer, I think, a builder, and was a fugitive from justice.

  I Don't Sympathise With Suicides

  let me explain.. firstly i have seen any number of so-called attempted suicides.

  i've walked past an old girl friends house, seen her watching tv through the window, by the time i'm knocking on the door she's told me that she had her head in the gas oven and my knock stopped her.. my mother in law walks into the sea for a pastime.

  every time she can't get her own way she walks in up to her knees and waits for someone to see her.

  Not everyone is cut from the same cloth. Maybe you don't relate to the suicidal tendency, but others might. My mother proclaims that she cannot understand why anyone would want to take her own life. But my mother had a loving, supportive family no matter what.

  Mental illness is as valid as any other kind of illness. People who threaten suicide, even repeatedly, need help whether we understand their mode of thinking or not.

  Of course you should continue to post here. So should anyone else who has an interest JW-related issues.

  My idea of the Ultimate Fluff Post (UFP): "I'm leaving because there's too much fluff here."

  I hope to be spared such dramatics in the future from all of you "superior posters." Personally, I wouldn't mind if you just silently drifted away, just as I did from the org.
