Robertson predicted a huge terrorist attack on the U.S. after September 2007 with possibly millions of lives lost.
i had the view on tv while i was cleaning this morning, and the women started talking about pat robertson's prediction for 2007. the guest co host, sherri shepherd, said "i used to be in the religion that rang your doorbells on the weekends and sold pamplets, but they predicted the world would end in 1995 (i'm sure she meant 1975) and that didn't happen either.

watching the view right now.. sherri, a funny woman, who will probably rreplace star in the show, .
well they were talking about pat robertsons prediction, and sherri said she is leary, as she use to belong to a religion, where they went door to door and handed out pamphletss, and said the end was coming in 1995.
(although i think she meant 1975).
Rats! You beat me to it. I just posted a thread on this topic.
It also says she is married to comidian Jeff T. Could it be our Jeff T?
She said on the show that her husband cheated on her so they are getting a divorce.

the co visit during those meetings you guys go to.
At pioneer school we were also told not to be fashionable or trendy as this would stumble our bro's and sis. Of course I didn't listen, naughty me.
Wow, when I went to pioneer school the CO's told us to dress well, and to wear the most expensive clothing we could afford because we needed to "present well".
How to work the gossip grapevine to your theocratic and social advantage
I know that comment was tongue in cheek, but there is some truth to it. My husband said a CO once told the elder body that the way to get their finger on the pulse of the congregation was to send their wives in mid week service and get the gossip. True story!
i didn't see this anywhere here, so thought you might be amused by this story.. i was watching fox news this morning.
they had a quick story about ole pat robertson predicting a major terrorist strike in the us sometime after september of 2007. millions would be affected (he didn't specify killed or what, just affected...).
but the kicker was this:.
I just read that in the newspaper. Now, I guess we will be on pins and needles until after September.
the co visit during those meetings you guys go to.
I was trying so hard to remember what went on in the meetings. I do remember at least one CO getting us to get "down and dirty" about what problems we may have had amongst ourselves. We had one pioneer who made it very difficult for all of us. She seemed to deeply resent anyone who was pioneering other than herself. She had been the lone pioneer for a couple of years and it really threw her the year I started, because there were 10 of us that year. We all talked about her and he handled it right then and there and talked straight to her.
We felt better, but after he left, she got worse and went by herself most of the time. She is in her 70's now and still pioneering, and still making things difficult, according to my JW friend. They never do anything about her either.
The CO's would talk about our time, and how we made our schedule and if we had trouble keeping it, and getting our time in. They usually had suggestions for us for our problems. Always, the goal was for us to keep pioneering, no matter what.
There also were reminders for the sisters to remember they were to let the brother pioneers take the lead, even if we had much more experience and he was 18. That was the case too. We all did it, but it was hard. I had sons older than the teenaged male pioneers, who would actually listen to me and do what I said, but I had to keep my mouth shut with those guys and be a wise sister, let them call the shots.
Pioneer school was just fast-paced, getting through the material in the book, with some discussion. A disappointment really.
is homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?
my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.
his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.
A brother came out to the house, assessed what medical concerns we had, prescribed little white pills for us to put under our tounges. That atleast was one therapy where the medicine didn't taste bad!
That is the way my father dispensed the formulas too. He had the little white pills, filled little bottles with them, and the filled the bottle with the homeopathic liquids. The pills absorbed the liquid.
I understand your intent, but it seemed to be morphing into only JW's do this "weird thing".

I've known several JW's that practice reflexology.
Now that's interesting. I know several people that do reflexology and not one of them is, or ever has been a JW.
The JW's I've known in several cities and congs have been into alternative therapies for a long time.
Again, I know many many people who are into alternative therapies and most of them are not JW's.
I spent several weeks in Malaysia a few years ago, and the majority of people there are into alternative therapies. I didn't meet any JW's among them. All the doctors in that country are known as traditional medical doctors. It means the old traditional, not modern tradtional.
I think all of you are harping on the JW angle because that was your world of reference for so many years. If you look outside that community, you find people who are attracted to the same things they were.
I have hundreds of customers for my products, but I doubt may of them, if any, are JW's.

Mulan..Do you have your own line of products?..Do you prepare them yourself?..Back in the day,I delt with manufacturers from all over the world.Hence my interest...OUTLAW
No, I just market the products my supplier has. I've been with this company since 1993 and they've had the homeopathics for just a short time, maybe 5 years.
By the way quite a few have PM'd me asking for more information on my products, especially the toothpaste.
But this woman I went to might as well have been wearing a white suit, selling "Grandpa's Fix-All Elixir," from the back of a horse drawn wagon.
I agree the iridology with the flashlight is very weird. She sounded like an amateur.

Homeopathy doesn't work, as simple as that.
You've just read several examples of where people told you about homeopathic things that did work, but you persist in saying they don't work. Why is that? Did someone tell you that, or did you read it somewhere? If it's in print, or the FDA says it, then it must be true.
I am just appalled at the ignorance in this thread. I want to be like Odrade and not comment on it, but I can't help myself.
Reflexology is a science. So is Iridology. Both are taught and practiced in medical schools in other countries all over the world. I remember when acupuncture was touted as quackery because................OH MY GOD, the heathen Asians did it! If it wasn't from the Western world, it must be bogus. The Europeans have used herbs and homeopathics long before they became popular in this country. I fact, some of my products I cannot ship to Germany because they are regulated like drugs and are by prescription only. They take them very seriously.
I agree that they have their place and are not interchangeable with what an MD would tell you, although it was an MD that told me to get the Arnica gel. When I had pneumonia in September, I went for antibiotics and over the counter things for my symptoms because they worked faster.
Thanks for the correction about Arnica, Odrade. I was sure it was arsenic, but you must be right.
