i find it interesting that in so many threads here in this forum and in others, to find the reference to apostates.
This is my fav defintion of apostate, this one fits me.
Apostate: The origin of the word seems to be in ecclesiastical Latin . Dated : Middle English . Possible translation : 'apostate, runaway slave'
I don't even mind the WT "label". That word holds no fear, no power anything over me today. I wear the label as a big F/U to the WT.

can you personally think of any pros of being a jws?
anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.
There are many things I convinced myself of that were good. Once I got honest with myself however I can't find any. I have been thinking about this for months. A variation of this question was posted on another board months ago, and I have been trying to think of something good that came from it...nothing, just the lies I told myself.
There were people I liked, there were some non-JW activities that I had fun at, but that's not exactly the same thing.
my father learned to hate catholics at home (a russian orthodox mining town) and at bethel.
he seemed to have no fervor pouncing on a protestant.
preaching against catholics at work put him on notice that he would be fired if he continued.
Judge Rutherford, apparently had a special hatred for Catholics. Since he really is the founder of the JWs (having hijacked it from Russell) you can see his fingerprints all over it.
i may have asked this before.. i dont have a bible in the house ( or want one ).
can anyone tell me --where--in any translation---these exact words or phrases occur?.

serenitynow maybe it was a regional thing - Hitler being in the new order- I grew up being told he would be there. I was told, he deserved a second chance just like anyone else. Really pisses me off now, chose not to believe the way they do, Jehovah has a special death planned for you, and we are going to make you suffer until then, but hitler, he's cool. A Christmas Story has become tradition on our house. I don't have the nostalgia of what others have, because they grew up with them. I have had to build my own memories, and Ralphie is a big one for me.
i am doing a personal research project and looking for examples of how the watchtower usurps jesus postion.

the jws were out in our area this morning and i bolted downstairs before my wife could waive them away as she normally does.. two ladies (mum and 24 year old daughter i later found out) initially stopped as i opened with a comment about how i couldn't trust a thing they say because they are taught to practice theocratic warfare.. the mother blinked and asked me what that was ( so it began ) i informed them both that they are allowed to lie or at least be evasive with the truth with worldy people.
she countered that they are taught not to lie so i again asked her if she knew what theocratic warfare meant and she again said no (first of my many - 'please go look that up' statements .).
i then moved onto the idea that they couldn't think independently outside the organisation due to fear of being disfellowshipped and shunned.
Way...to...go. I seriously wish I would have woken up before the local JWs knew me. Armed with what I know now, I could have had such a good time haha.
a self professed jw has slandered me in the comments section of a youtube video i have posted.. he has called me a "stupid apostate" and accused me of causing violence against jws, both of which are false slanderous lies.. i am not complaining about this as i am thick skinned and know to expect this sort of response from critics when i put my stuff out before the public.
i am sharing this so that everyone can see an example of the sort of hateful behavior recent watchtower articles have spawned.. .

If it's Justice4vr I think his faith is starting to shake. I had a 4 day convo with him. In the end, we just decided we weren't getting anywhere.
He attacked one of my videos, actually attacked me personally. I just laughed it off kind of thing, and wasn't going to argue with him. He asked if I was going to block him, when I told him no, I had no reason to. Disagreeing was perfectly ok or something like that. Ended up a nice convo. In the end, his last arguments were like "but we go in field service". He never really showed signs he was shaking, but he was grasping for the lame excuses.
I am now seeing him comment on many vids with info based on what we talked about. Could be just wishful thinking but in my wishful head it looks like he is he checking out some of what I said. Wishful thinking is seeing lame arguments, like he is running out of steam. Could be wishful thinking.
