@Unlearn...We are kindred spirits...I was 25 when appointed an elder...CA at 29..DC at 31..PO at 32...I never had a "relationship with God" but I knew how to kiss ass, smchooz and climb the theocratic ladder...the "privileges" I had were a treasure to me..I chuckle now because I realize how litte they actual mean in real life. I wasted a lot of time.

I've lurked a long time: JW's produce some of the most paranoid humans
by Unlearn ini'll keep this brief for now.. long time lurker (4 years or so).. born-in, elder, used on district level (last talk i gave before i left was the baptisimal talk), and lots of hard time put in...before i finally made the move to split.
it's a long stoy, much like many of yours...but with it's own little interesting twists.
more details in the future, perhaps.. as i said, ive lurked here for a while.. its funny: for a long time i'd only come on late at night.

please bear with me.. i have asked certain ones to prove the existence of god or christ without referencing any biblical writings or characters.

My 'beef' with God is why? Why such an intelligent creator allows all this craziness in the world to ensue? Why all the religious beliefs? Why do it through an ancient set of writings? Why not reveal yourself to the WORLD, in a manner befitting an ALMIGHTY GOD? Why not make a CLEAR CASE for yourself, and your identity?
This is the question I have asked time and again. Why make is to hard to be found? Why make it confusing? Why my must I rely on men, both dead and alive to believe? Why not just manifiest yourself to EVERYONE and get it overwith? Why not? SMH.
And yet despite it all, I still believe in God, not in organized religion, but in God. Things that make you go Hmmmm. SMH.

The one thing that WTBS cannot tolerate is anything that makes them look bad, especially to the rank and file. The Internet is attacting more and more lurkers and information that most Witnesses never new existed if available.
The information is making WTB S look bad and they cannot take it. What Legal Department cannot handle must be spun by the Service Department and its agents, the COs and DOs.
If you leave you are a potential danger and must be silenced.
That is the TRUTH.

Unlearn, as a former Presiding Overseer, CA an DO speakr, Bethel Elder I REALLY feel you brother! Nothing like practicing your DO orCO part and then rolling home listening to Snoop Dogg and Doctor Dre encouraging me to drink gin and juice or letting me that it Nothing but a G Thang!
It took me eight years to finally leave. I was in psychiatric ward three times before an old friend who is an ex-Witness herself helped me see that it was the double life of super elder and closet liberal that was messing with my mind. The "truth" was making me mentally diseased!
I am free and happy now. And my ex-Witness friend that helped me...she is now the love of my life!

Its true...my Mother and Sister are still Witnesses and when they see me they are surprised at how well I am doing. They expect me to be sad, sullen, forlorn and unhappy. They are shocked that my son LOOKS forward to being with me when I visit him and he visits me. My Son is over the sadness of me not going to the Kingdom Hall. When I pick him up for visits on the weekend now he does not even bring a suit or his meeting bag. He KNOWS we are not going the KH and he does not care.
Stay the course brother. The happier you are the more confused they will be.

I know Vic and his family personally. His parents are rich. The kids all went to college. The father is an elder. Many brothers in the area where he grew up are well off, rich or wealthy. And some get to give convention talks about living the simple life.
So much for living a "simple" life. I am working to be rich now.

Anwar Al-Awlaki and due process any thoughts?

he was a u.s. citizen, and no due process was given, he was just killed outright, no arrest, no trial, no court.. any thoughts?.

House to house is a colossal wast of time! Although I have to admit, I worked for a large security company that does door to door sales. I was treated WORSE as a salesman than I ever was in my 38 years of door knocking as a Witness. I really believe that people resent ANYONE who knocks at their door UNIVITED. It is considered a VIOLATION of PRIVACY no matter who you represent!
