  i remembered there was some discussion several months ago concerning the annual meeting when i came across this form attached in an old watchtower, dated september 1, 1935. i thought it might be of some interest to some here.

  notice in the instructions that "each person or company that has contributed $10.00 or more at one time to the work of the society is entitled to one vote for each $10.00 so contributed".. personally i thought it was interesting.

  here is another unequivocal example of a claim of direct inspiration: in the olin moyle court case of 1943, fred franz said under oath that no man is the editor of the watchtower.

  Here's another WT article where the Society calls itself a prophet:
  WT June 1, 1935 pg. 172
  
  "Jehovah is the teacher of his own children, and never again shall their Teacher be pushed into a corner. To carry out his purpose Jehovah sent his beloved Son, Christ Jesus, to the temple in 1918, and caused his prophet, now the remnant, to proclaim: 'But Jehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.'"

  The same paragraph continues (I had to quote this little gem-I know it has nothing to do with this thread (sorry)it was just too interesting-in light of the UN scandal)

  "Any attempt to make the League of Nations, which is the abomination that maketh desolate, stand in the holy place is an open and flagrant defiance of Jehovah. The temple of Jehovah cannot be defiled, because there is nothing in common between his faithful temple class and the creature of the Devil and his organization. No one who understands God's Word, and loves and serves him, can give support to the League of Nations, because the thing is an abomination in the sight of Jehovah."

  But the article does continue..."For this reason Jehovah and Christ do the teaching of God's people. The dumb idol cannot teach anything."

  30 and Out?

  30 that seems to put jw's at a cross-roads?

  i've known so many who have decided to abandon ship at either the age of 30 or either after 30 years of being baptized.

  i fall into the former category.

  I failed to mention other champions in my previous post: Holly and Heather.

  I really appreciate the courage and inner strength that they have shown. It took great courage and strength just to be able to tell their story.

  I would love for them to know that they have and will continue to make a difference in others lives. For them and all other victims: I wish you the best as you continue on the path of healing.

  30 and Out?

  Great thread!
  I started having major doubts about a year ago-I am now 31.
  I think I finally fully matured around 30 and began to examine my life and ask myself some questions. I finally figured out who I am and what I want to do with my life.
  Food for thought: Why did Jesus not get baptized until age 33? Was it because there was no one to baptize him before that? Maybe someone could fill me in on this (something I've wondered for a while). I personally have thought that pre-teens and teen-agers are to immature to dedicate their lives and get baptized. (even tho I was baptized at 13) That is definitely an adult decision.

  I remember when my sister was to give a talk one Thursday. She was wearing a skirt that was knee level. The school overseer asked her to either go home and change skirts or to switch skirts with my mom(who had on an ankle-length skirt).
  My sister was so humiliated, she kept wondering if anyone had noticed that she had changed skirts.
  That brother's daughter,who has now reached the teen years, wears skirts even shorter than what we wore.

  My mother feels that situation contributed to my sister falling out of the org.
  Nope-my little sis just had the brains to figure out what it took me a long time to see.

  Any Buckeye's Here

  for those who don't know what a buckeye is, it is the state tree of ohio.

  it also grows in michigan, but most michiganders try to kill them off and burn them at ohio state - michigan football games when ohio state loses.

  the buckey tree produces brown fruit that look like a chestnut, except they are poisonous.
