Sometimes I go to a meeting.
by dmouse insometimes i go to a meeting...usually when the co visits in case they actually say something of interest.
the reason i go occasionally is to validate my decision to leave 2 hours at the meeting is enough to convince any normal person with a brain that it is not the truth.. i went this morning.
it was the same old drivel are your stressed or discouraged?

LOL! SS, you crack me up! We should go to a meeting together sometime, and make loud comments about the lack of intellectualism in the back...

denied babtism
by rakiasp ini have a question that puzzles me and would like to receive some ideas.
i used to be a witness for two years before fading away, leaving quietly.
i was not disfellowshipped and i did not write a letter of dissasociation.. the way i got babtised was such that noone from my congragation saw it since the babtisees were taken by buses from the convention to a private swimming pool.

I say, go for it, rakiasp. After all, you have nothing to lose.
Although I strongly doubt it'll work, you should at least try it. If it doesn't, do the ol' go-to-the-bathroom-and-put-some-lemon-juice-in-your-eyes trick, and presto! Cry like a baby insisting you never got baptized! Hehe...

Thanks to Everybody!!!
by mindfield ini'm not going to be able to mention everyone on this post, for many reasons, but i'd just like to mention a few folks who made my journey so much more comfortable.. thanks for all the many deep posts about the validity of the bible, the theory of evolution, scientific facts, etc.
you have to be one of the most interesting people of the world, folks.
sure, we had some fights, some name-calling.

Thanks for all the many deep posts about the validity of the Bible, the theory of evolution, scientific facts, etc. You have to be one of the most interesting people of the world, folks. Sure, we had some fights, some name-calling. But just look at these arguments as a whole. Most of them refrain from name-calling. Most end in good wishes, even. Here, at least most of the time, different beliefs don't equate in hatred. Thanks for that.
Of course, we can't forget the "fluff" posts. These posts don't have a long-term impact, sure. Most don't even stick for more than 5 minutes at most. But it just shows that the posters here are human beings, like you and me. We have interests, values, humour, etc. even though most are x-Jw's. Thanks to the queen of fluff, Xena I believe. (correct me if i'm wrong...)
Thanks to Lilacs for sending me the book C of C. I finished reading it, and it's a fact that I'm never going back to that hypocritical hellhole some call "Jehovah's Witnesses". Sorry if I offend some with that label, but don't worry, your turn is coming. Lilacs!!!
Thanks to Kent, steph, Randy, and simon of course for all your online work. Thanks to everyone else I haven't mentioned who is making a special effort to distribute this info. to all those who may be inclined to discover their leader's past and present behind closed doors.
Who else... well, thanks for just being here. Everyone. Mommy, for your compassion and maternal presence, Xena for your "exciting" posts you know the kind ), celtic + many others for your humour, etc. I'd also like to thank the few JW's on this board, including Yadirf and Fred Hall. You remind me everyday why I'm no longer a publisher. Thanks.
Finally, i think a special thanks to Simon is necessary. Thanks simon for your hard work and efforts to keep this board a fun and healthy place to be. It's steadily growing, and I feel as if I'm part of a real online community. I'm not exactly a frequent poster, but I try to pop in my 2 cents when i can, and I feel accepted.
Thanks everybody!!!!
*just like to end this post with some warm, fuzzy lyrics by Enya, on the song "May it be" in the movie Lord of the Rings:
May it be
An evening star
Shines down
Upon youMay it be
When darkness falls
Your heart
Will be trueYou walk along a road
Oh how far you are from homeMornië utúlië [Quenya: 'Darkness has come']
Believe and you
Will find your wayMornië alantië [Quenya: 'Darkness has fallen']
A promise lives
Within you nowMay it be
The shadow's call
Will fly awayMay it be
A journey on
To light the dayWhen the night is all gone
You may rise
To find the sunMornië utúlië [Quenya: 'Darkness has come']
Believe and you
Will find your wayMornië alantië [Quenya: 'Darkness has fallen']
A promise lives
Within you nowA promise lives
Within you now... -

Excellent points, scully...
Oh yes, it will be thrilling and exciting when the love of Almighty Jehovah God will shower his love upon the unbelievers and their children of the earth by crushing, drowning, eviscerating, suffocating them, and also by removing their minds. Oh yes, Praise the LORD!!!
I can't add anything to your post, it was very good.
Had to laugh at your Truth tm;... hilarious! I wonder if they can patent that...

A New Guy from Chicago with a Story to Tell
by Reborn2002 infirst of all id like to say hello to everyone on this website, and to thank and acknowledge each and every one of you for your individuality, personal experience, and in some cases, commitment to truth.. having read some of the heartfelt topics and posts here have served to be a great encouragement to me, more than some could imagine.
my name is jason, and i am a recovering ex-jw.. i guess this would be an ideal time to tell my life story as an abbreviated version, so here goes.. i was "born into, or raised" in the organization.
my grandfather was an elder for 45 years, and served as one of the very first jw in the south chicagoland suburbs.

Why do heated arguments on this board always end in kissing, spanking, and auto-eroticism?
Could it be that some of us have other browser windows opened to other sites containing questionable pics of male/female anatomy?
(I know I do...) Just joking...

Vanilla Sky w/Tom Cruise
by patio34 infelicitations to everyone,.
i saw vanilla sky yesterday.
it was engaging with a surprise ending.
-
mindfield
Liked it, heh? Guess I'll go see it myself...
True, some critics hated it, but if you go to :movies.com you can see the reviews of most critics arranged in 3 categories: positive, negative, and mixed. For Vanilla Sky, it's mostly half-and-half. A couple mixed.
Thanks for the review!
