FSM: Austrian authorities accept colander as religious headgear
by J. Hofer inhttp://translate.google.at/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=utf-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3a%2f%2fderstandard.at%2f1308681039222%2foesterreichs-behoerden-nudelsieb-als-religioese-kopfbedeckung-in-fuehrerschein-genehmigt.
this is google-translated from german.... a "pastafarian" insisted in having his license picture shot with a colander on his head.
it's allowed (for muslims for example) to have ones head covered for legal documents if it is a religious practise.

Awesome!
A sikh is legally allowed to wear his turban in place of a crash helmet whilst riding a motorcycle here in da UK. Not that I have ever seen a sikh riding a motorcycle, they usually drive Audi estates.

This touched me by making me cry the first time I heard it. I was still feeling a bit raw from my divorce. Saw her perform it live at Bestival on the Isle of Wight a few months later and now it brings back happy memories.

To be a good Jehovah's Witness you must......
by Sour Grapes into be a good jehovah's witness you must:.
have a fear of growing old and be vain about how you look.. struggle to make decisions.. be a nobody who can have power over others.. have a mental disabliity.. have a physical disabilty who wants a cure.. be normal, but have parents who are j.w.'s..
have had bouts of depression.. have a fear of being wrong.. the above are based upon people in the kh.

Always carry a selection of tracts about your person for those informal witnessing opportunities that happen exactly as on a convention platform.
Keep a magazine or 5 on the parcel shelf of your economical hatch-back so that you can count your time when passers by in car parks stare through the rear window.
Never do any stretching excercises that could be construed as being yogic 'cause practising yoga will let the devil into your head.
Not own any books, CDs, games, DVDs etc with the word 'war' in the title.
Only ever listen to Kingdom Melodies whilst driving about in the ministry. Radio 4 is acceptable for the news and shipping forecast but you turn it off as soon as Women's Hour starts. Bloomin' feminists, usurping headship, it's not right!
Speculate wildly and spread any gossip on anyone who's announced as DF'd or DA'd, 'cause they must've done something bad, right? You can't see why anyone would just want to leave of their own accord and miss out on a pet lion.

What was it like growing up in a Jehovahs Witness Household? Read this !
by Hairyhegoat ini found this on another ex-jw site and it's well worth a read .
.. it's a bit long though... .
growing up in a jehovahs witness household was very confusing.

So sad. Reading stories like this just prove to me that the bOrg is no more spirit directed than say, oh, a tin of boot polish 'cause if they were, then all the abusers masquerading as 'loving brothers & sisters' would be properly dealt with by both the elders and the authorities.

assemblies and alcohol
by pedal power inour dc coming up this weekend, i hated them and the only thing that kept me going ,was the reward of booze at the end of each day.my then wife, zelous judgemental pioneer, you know the type, not only droned on about my drinking, but about everyones drinking, a real barrel of laughs not.
anyway, one year we went to another dc, in newcastle, all seemed to be going well, until lunch.we went over to a hotel for lunch,i ordered my fresh orange and food, a few minutes later, the local jw,s arrived for lunch, they had all pr-ordered drinks, alcoholic drinks, and not one drink but many !!!
they were buisy getting boozed up for the afternoon session, way to go, i was about to join them, when my wife told me " dont even think about it ", anyway she was outraged, but there they were ,with thier little convention badges, men and women, young and old, getting merry, they dont even do that here in scotland, !!!.

Isn't Newcastle the drinking capital of Britain?
It seemed like every year, straight after the DC, someone in my congo would get a PR for getting drunk afterwards and we'd have a local needs talk about it. I remember one year, it was an elder's son that got PR and this particular elder actually gave the LN talk all the while staring furiously through his half moon specs directly at his son who was flushed bright red with embarassment.

Chariklo has given some great recommendations.
http://www.visitwales.co.uk/regions-of-wales/ Being Welsh I'm biased but there's some beautiful castles, mountains, lakes and beaches here.
Laugharne in West Wales, where Dylan Thomas did most of his writing, is one of my favourite places. It's just so tranquil, I always feel relaxed whenever I visit (and sometimes you'll spot Pierce Brosnan fishing in the estuary). I have some photos on my Facebook page, PM if you're interested.

I just played it. I like it, my kids like it, and my partner said it was alright and sounded like a couple of the bands he records (he's a sound engineer). So that's 4 thumbs up from us.
