Lol. Jesus folks who preach the word by defacing property with graffiti. I always wondered how that made sense.

Russia's human rights record is abysmal.
So is the human rights record of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Governing Body.

Underground stone rings made by Neanderthals
by freemindfade inhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/scientists-underground-stone-rings-made-by-neanderthals/2016/05/25/1fa17e98-229b-11e6-b944-52f7b1793dae_story.html.
two mysterious stone rings found deep inside a french cave were probably built by neanderthals about 176,500 years ago, proving that the ancient cousins of humans were capable of more complex behavior than previously thought, scientists say..

You wear tight pants and you will be in trouble
by wannaexit ini was reading in another forum, that a letter to the elders instructed them to speak to anybody who persists in wearing tight pants.
if changes don't happen then the instructions are to disqualify him from being a publisher but it won't be announced to the congregation.
i am am curious to see if this letter will surface.

BluesBrother:
I should have said my thanks to J W Facts and Wi Fi Bandit for their invaluable work in providing the document. Without that it would just be a rumour.
Amen to that. Now it would be nice to dig out of the literature where it says that public preaching is a necessary activity that can't be taken from someone, even if they are under reproof. Maybe from one of the old Organization books, a Watchtower study, the elders manual, or a BOE letter. Then you would have a side by side comparison where Watchtower is saying it both ways; something the Organization does from time to time on some subjects. -

TheOldHippie:
GrownMidget:"to disqualify him from being a publisher"
That was strange. It was always stressed that being a publisher is required, is a right, that as a JW you both have the right to and the obligation to preach. I remember it stated at a JC that we had absolutely no right to deny a person the right to preach. He could be told to better preach in a specific area or to avoid an area because of Things that had happened - but not to stop preaching. The only way to stop a person from preaching is to df him.
If you are disqualified from preaching - you by definition is no JW. Strange.
I agree with TheOldHippie.
I agree with TheOldHippie too. I remember a time when Witnesses were barred from field service as part of reproof, but that changed because preaching was viewed as a 'Christian requirement,' and a 'requisite for life,' therefore it was an activity that could not be taken from someone.
I had to do a double take when jwfacts posted the outline where it clearly says "the person no longer qualifies to share in the ministry." This represents another flip-flop back to the old way of doing things.

Did The Witnesses Predict the United Nations in Advance?
by TD init's been reported on this forum that bethel speakers at this summer's conventions are asserting that the establishment of the united nations in 1945 was predicted in advance by the witnesses.
this is being presented as validation of the claim that the witnesses are god's one true organization directed by holy spirit.. .
the basis for this claim originates with a public address entitled, peace - can it last given by n.h. knorr at the new world theocratic assembly, on september 20 of 1942. .

Is it arrogance, or are they just dumb? (Problematic2)
Watchtower seems to have plenty of both, but I think they are more arrogant than anything.

... so how is predicting the United Nations in 1942 or 1 in any way prescient ???
Watchtower believes the scarlet-colored wild beast from Revelation is the League of Nations/United Nations. Rev 17:8 describes this beast as existing, then not existing, then existing again. Watchtower interprets this to mean the League of Nations came into existence after WWI, then went out of existence before WWII at some point, then came back as the United Nations after WWII, thus fitting the Revelation description that "the wild beast was, but is not, and yet will be present."
Based on their understanding of this scripture Watchtower was predicting the return of the League (or pretending to), which became known as the UN, thus they were guided by God's Word and His spirit to accurately make the prediction, or so they claim.
(Rev 17:8): The wild beast that you saw was, but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss, and it is to go off into destruction. And when they see how the wild beast was, but is not, and yet will be present, those who dwell on the earth will wonder admiringly, but their names have not been written upon the scroll of life from the founding of the world.

Problemaddict2: ...it ended with a quick lecture on Jesus words regarding the Pharisees "lording it over the flock" and his ignorance as to what the original language and intend of jesus words were. Then a cherry on top of it really doesn't matter what you think, you don't qualify to be an elder, and are a stain n the congregation. :
Funny, I've been thinking for the last few days how elders can actually be congregation bullies masquerading as loving older men (not all, but some). You summed up what I was thinking pretty well.

When confronted with questions they can't answer, the elders will likely say something like "We will not debate you on this." I believe the instructions for saying that are in the Elder's Manual.
Then they will divert to asking you loaded questions like "Do you believe this is God's spirit directed organization on earth," or something similar.
When the elder said "will you meet with us and clear it up" the deck was stacked. Personally, if it were me, I might have agreed to meet with him 1 on 1, but no more, and only at my house. It's probably going to be 3 against 1 in the meeting (at least 2 to 1) and they will manipulate it however they need to.
Best of luck with it and let us know how it turns out.
