Well the Biblical account would still be wrong then. See also footnotes in NWT for Gen 6:6, 11
I'm curious. What should I dig out, the original NWT or the Revised NWT? Or does it matter?
there's two sides to the explanation of petrified wood not sure yet about what creationists say about petrified dung.
on one side evelutionists say it's a long process the creationists say it happen rapidly caused by noah's flood and after.
has anyone really looked into this argument to see if there a decisive way to show the bible believers wrong.

the wt used to be rich for the quality of their public speakers, at the top of the ladder were the dos motivating the brothers on a weekly basis.
some of them used very folksy experiences related to the brothers as motivational tools, when you left the convention those experiences were the talk of the town.
i remember one very well qualified brother serving as do that was constantly using those sort of experiences as part of his arsenal, at one time he related one about a sister that new that she was going to die soon and while meeting with the family and brothers for final preparations she requested to be buried with a fork in her hand.
Governing Body member Stephen Lett illustrated 'forever' by a parakeet filling the Grand Canyon one grain of sand at a time. It had been used before, including by evangelist John Ankerberg, with slight changes - Ankerberg used the moon I think.
Lett: Parakeet and sand illustration ends with “forever has just barely begun”
Ankerberg: Parakeet and sand illustration ends with “eternity would just be beginning”

i've been updating the links at my web site and i'm working on the gtjbrooklyn pages now.
what would you say are the several biggest changesin the jws organization/rules in the last five years or so?
Thumbs up to Freewheeling. The GB making themselves the Faithful and Discreet Slave was jaw dropping to me.
If I hadn't already been out for years that would have opened my eyes a bit.
saw this on reddit it was posted by user morgan_sparlock .
to me honestly this would of been prohibited 10 years ago, but now every dub is obsessed with this website, it's everywhere even a damn iphone cover... ooh they don't approve of idolatry ooh no they don't accept cross veneration thats bullshit to me!!!
its getting to a point that they are venerating this website (company logo) it's their version of the cross.
this is a pretty good example of the limitations of "bloodless medicine", and why the informed choice should always be "blood conservation" medicine, which retains the safety net of blood transfusion when medically required.
sadly, the watchtower fails to inform jws regarding these important limitations, and their potentially disastrous consequences.. http://www.dailyreportonline.com/id=1202750028414/jury-awards-100k-to-family-of-jehovahs-witness-who-died-after-refusing-blood-transfusion?mcode=0&curindex=0&curpage=3&slreturn=20160118223352.

hi everyone i'm at work and need to show this video to a jw.
i saw it a few weeks ago i think it was geoffry jackson who said that jehovah may or may not be gods real name but we use it anyways.
can someone help me find that video?
Mad Irishman: Some you you have let your hatred rot your brain out from reality, history, and common sense. Jehovah is the English translation of YHWH. Before the 20th Century all Christians of every faith used Jehovah as the English name for God. It isn't a witness thing!
It wasn't anyone here that said the form JEHOVAH wasn't the most accurate pronunciation of God's name, it was the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, represented by Geoffrey Jackson. He said....
Why do we use the name 'Jehovah' in English? Is it because it is the most accurate pronunciation? No. It is because it is the most widely accepted. Does this make sense? Yes.
It is JWs themselves that acknowledge there is a more accurate pronunciation. So why do they go with the less accurate form, Jehovah? Because it's more widely accepted by the world and by Churches.
This has nothing to do with hatred, rotten brains, nor deviation from reality, history or common sense (Could you ease up on the name calling a tiny bit?). It has to do with accuracy of translation, which Jehovah's Witnesses normally make a big issue of, but for some reason in this case they are taking the opposite approach.
Embracing what is commonly accepted is usually rejected by JWs on many, many topics, which they say is evidence they have the truth, that they are separate from the world and from apostate Christedom. Why would they now support the commonly accepted view knowing it isn't the most accurate?
You would think that getting the Divine Name right, or at least as close as can be determined, would be important to JWs since they claim to be the only true representatives of God on earth.
Mad Irishman: It isn't a witness thing!
Exactly. It's a worldly thing. That's the problem.
i'm an unbelieving but baptised jw.
i woke up to ttatt around 4 years ago.
i haven't been regular to meetings for nearly 10 years.
Susan Gaskin.
She has a good series, up to #9 I think, as of now.

Is the Trinity widely accepted? Yes. Does it make sense for JWs accept it? No.
Is the concept of an Immortal Soul widely accepted? Yes. Does it make sense for JWs accept it? No
Is the idea of all good people Going to Heaven widely accepted? Yes. Does it make sense for JWs accept it? No.

Geoffrey Jackson: Why do we use the name 'Jehovah' in English? [...] It is because it is the most widely accepted. Does this make sense? Yes.
Straightening out the proper pronunciation of the Divine Name would have been a perfect opportunity for JWs to take a stand for the 'Truth,' but instead they took the route of convenience, which is to support what is 'widely accepted' by the world.
Convoluted thinking and double standards are the trade mark of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.
on another thread, i have been having a discussion about protests in connection with watchtower policy.
one of the biggest and more re-occuring rebuttals to protesting at kingdom halls and assemblies is that it does two things: 1. it re-enforces the apostate "mentally diseased" narrative heaped on the xjw community by the gb 2. it causes people to withdraw and get closer to the borg.. what if we as a group took the protest to city halls and government authorities to raise awareness of the need for mandatory reporting laws, rather than protesting @jw events?
hell even geoffry jackson, when he gave his testimony at the arc, agreed that it would be "helpful".
I believe education is far more effective than protest when it comes to religion. Web sites like this one, JWfacts and others are the answer to waking up Jehovah's Witnesses.
Watchtower itself operates behind the concept of 'freedom of religion.' That won't change, and all the protest in the world will probably be counter productive. However the people within the religion can come out of it, and that will happen better through education than anything else.
Just my thoughts.
well i was telling you days ago that i wrote my da letter... i decided to deliver it myself to the elders.
it'a been about a year i didn't show up nor talk to the majority of old friends.
one of my best friends (who's is 2-3 years older than me, i'm 25) is now an elder... some times i don't understand him, he's an engineer from a prestigious university (the most prestigious universities here in chile, are 2, the one from where he got his degree and the one i'm attending)... he even red crisis of conscience and has doubts... but still endured inside.. my congo were based in our historic city downtown, so our territory was small... i parked my car near the hall and walked near for a while while the meeting was over.
...it seems that this is the longest thing I ever wrote in English that it's not academic!
Your broken English is beautiful and a pleasure to read. Thank you!
