"...irreverence toward God, but I don't think this was."
I agree with you drewcoul. It was poking fun at the GB and the way they perceive themselves as being directed by holy spirit.

That was very funny. Thanks for posting.
discussing the recent boe letter regarding child molestation this morning with my wife (she actually brought it up) , and she commented on how absurd it was - it just did not make sense!
but there was one way that it could make sense.
she said "what if someone at the top on the governing body was a child molester and wanted to cover everything up?
"What if someone at the top on the Governing Body was a child molester and wanted to cover everything up? That's the only way this would make sense - in a perverted way of course!"
It might be a good time to bring up an admission the Watchtower made in the 80s,
“Shocking as it is, even some who have been prominent in Jehovah’s organization have succumbed to immoral practices, including homosexuality, wife swapping, and child molesting.” (W 1-1-86 p13) (bold added)
i was just now looking up one of the old references to c.t.
russell being the faithful and discreet slave, of mt.
24:45, in the finished mystery.

What struck me is that not only was he the FDS, he was also the 'man with the writer's inkhorn' of Ezekiel. How do we know? Because God worked through a sign painter to deliver the message!
Hello Londo111,
I've been looking for anything with 1975 mentioned in it. That is a great example.
Which tract was that? Can you post a scan of the whole thing, front, back, and inside pages?
Nice find.
i went to the reddit site supposedly where the rumor started.
anybody know that guy?
unless i see notes, and how they explained it, if it was an hour long, or hear it, it's a troll for the moment.
Don't you love the circular reasoning involved in this?
The Faithful and Discreet Slave is made up of a small group of anointed men at Brooklyn Headquarters who serve spiritual food during Christ's presence. How do we know? Because the Governing Body says so.
Basically the GB has declared itself to be the FDS!
as part of family worship last night, i pulled out the bound volumes i have been harvesting from different sources lately and showed my spouse the following quote:.
awake!1969 may 22 p.15 .
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
Scan of Watchtower 5-1-1997, p8. Note paragraph 1.

Irondodrk, that is a great quote. By saying that, Watchtower is actually condemning itself!

Turtleturtle, that article is a classic!
Many Witnesses feel that the Society would never lie or mislead, but that quote shows just the opposite.
Some will try to explain it away as being simply a misunderstanding, but what False Prophet does not have a misunderstanding? They all do!
why was there no official arrangement before 1952 to disfellowship people?
was there a different procedure with a different name?
was no one committing disfellowshipping offenses?
Christ Alone said,
Cris Sanchez said that he felt like the GB...would have killed him if they had the chance.
That reminds me of a Watchtower remark regarding the extermination of apostates. If not for Bible laws and the laws of the land, they seem to suggest that even family relations should be executed.
(W 11-15-1952 p703-704, QFR)
"We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel...
"Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship."
So, in today's world, Watchtower can take action against apostates only so far, and it sounds like they would actually prefer executing family members, per this remark,
"...forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship".
As though everybody should have the right to execute their own family? Am I missing something here? What do you readers make of that remark?
How sad for them.
