Add your favorite JW prayer cliche'
by King Solomon inyou know what i'm talking about: the trite, often-repeated phrases that convey the person offering the prayer has drawn a mental blank, and utters these words while their brain desperately searches for the next cliche', so they can conclude the ritual with the required tag, "in jesus' name we pray".... (is that like the postage stamp?).
ok, i'll kick this one off, and take the most obvious:.
"forgive us where we fall short....".

Lately prayers have become a "how many times can I say Jehovah" during my prayer contest. I seems to just get thrown in like a word whisker like "um" would get used

Same DO during his closing long winded talk actually said when he feels sick his wife keeps bringing him brandy until the hat hanging on his bedpost starts looking like two hats...I was in disbelief he just told an assy audience he gets tanked when he don't feel well

True story: one bro at another hall said the following prayer to start a Sunday meeting: "dear Jehovah, please give us your holy spirit,..amen"
He serves the congregation I reluctantly go to now as an elder...functionally illiterate but is one of the school overseers.

watchtower leadership getting weaker
by edmond dantes inis it my imagination or does the watchtower need a strong individual leader to come forward and take control they seem to be losing it big time.. i have just started re reading thirty years a slave of the watchtower and it seems to me that compared with judge rutherford and knorr there is just no strong personal driving force.
when rutherford took control he was young compared with todays leaders and so was knorr but todays team seem very lack lustre and undynamic..

Starting to have more conversations with some heavies.. voicing my concerns about russel, Rutherford, policies, doctrines, I'm surprised what I'm getting away with I think leadership has its tail between it's legs afraid of more lawsuits!

Would You Listen To A Prayer From A JW And Say Amen If They Said A Prayer In Your Presence?
by minimus inmy mom has had visits from various jws and they have asked her if they could say a prayer before they left.
i respectfully listened to the prayers while i was visiting and might silently say amen if i felt the prayer was appropriate for my mom.. i'm just curious, how would you handle this type of situation?.

Stopped bowing my head and saying amen almost a year ago. Just had DC. never clapped once never opened a bible once never sang one word of any song. Got CO this week gonna continue same routine! Starting to have more conversations with some heavies.. voicing my concerns about russel, Rutherford, policies, doctrines, I'm surprised what I'm getting away with I think leadership has its tail between it's legs afraid of more lawsuits!

Are you TRAPPED by your believing mate into a hellish life of "pretend"?
by Terry inthe scene is familiar.. a jehovah's witness family with one member who has awakened from the lie.. the split comes down to an interesting wrong terminology:.
unbelieving mate vs believing mate.. .
the context of the entire family is as a jehovah's witness family.. damage has already been done.

I relate to this I'm stuck in the situation for now and have advanced to the stage already that tells me to fight for my rights and bow to no-one! My size and mental demeanor will make an elders tie an easy target to whip him around and throw him to the ground if they want to go toe to toe with me. I'm to the point where I couldn't care less if I was DF'd or not. By the way the throw down will happen without a second witness so no worries. Great post!

Hard to believe this book wasn't written by an ex-JW. Parallels are astounding! I'm anxious to read if there are suggestions to help open minds of my wife and child. For now I exist with a fully awake mind but any criticism of Dub-cult reinforces their resolve to stay committed. And to top off got to suffer thru the DC this week. I'm gonna have to make lots of bathroom trips and bring a flask, take naps, and walk off back pain and leg cramps! Anyone interested in a recording of DC ? Ha!
