Sept. 15, 1985, my Mother committed suicide. Sept, 2 to 13th, hard hard time, thinking my soon to be son would not live, I was told to buy his cemetary plot.........he lived , he is fine,,,,,,,,but the feelings I went thru at that time will never be forgotten. Sept. 11, I watched with my children and husband the world change, I have never seen anything like that before , changed us all. Then the hurricane hit also in Sept. I again have never seen anything like that in my life.

I don't like Septembers'.

Dallas loses two awesome gals!

after coming from new orleans to dallas to escape katrina, marla (bubbamar) and dee had taken up temporary residence here in dallas.

but as of yesterday they decided to move to atlanta.

they have some friends to stay with there and a university in georgia has offered them free tuition for the fall semester.

WTF? I admit I havent read every post on this thread.........and I have a migraine, but I think Mrs. Kerry needs a slap for saying that. I understand she thinks that water, food and generators are first,,,,,,,but damn , does she really mean they should be naked? Do the children of the Caribiean usually run around naked to begin with, is it their culture? I really don't know, and from what I have seen on TV, I don't think they do.

Again, what do you think she meant by that........it sure sounds inhumane to me. Maybe she didnt mean it that way , just trying to get her point across, I don't get it thou.

so many of you have been so helpful, generous, kind, supportive and caring -- it is truly mindblowing and has been the bright spot in this nightmare.

It is so great to hear things are looking up for you. I can only imagine what it must be like not being able to go home , because it simply is not there anymore.

Maybe after you have finished school, you can go back. Maybe in time New Orleans will be something to go back and see. Of course it won't be the same old NO, but for the people who choose to go back, they can start making it a beauty spot again. I think the whole world will be , behind funding , and building that city back up, because it was so let down . I sure hope so, I love my home state of Louisiana and my heart goes out to ones like you , who are misplaced and brokenhearted. Hugs to ya Sweetie, Dede

I say hoo-yah! Take notice thugs, if you're a punk and you want to act out Grand Theft Auto in N.O. you're gonna get shot and killed.

I agree. As many of you know I live in Shreveport/Bossier in Louisiana and there are 1000's of NewOrleans evacuees here.

On the local news the main theme was how afraid the local people (both whites and blacks) are scared of what might happen if the thugs come our way , as I sure there will be some.

There were other interviews of locals who said they are not going to tolerate any bad behavior here. People are stocking up on bullets , that is scarey. I have already heard stories from a couple of my friends and a Walmart worker who are telling things some of the evacuees are doing,,,,some are stealing, one lady was trying to steal jewelry at Walmart, but the police let her go. I hope that things are kept under control, I would hate to be even more afraid than I am already , but ya just got to be cautious .
