Yes, I'm going I will partake at home afterwards with my husband and hopefully I can convince my kids to join us. Any scriptures you can think of to help convince my son that we all need to partake not just 144,000. I have a few in mind but I was wondering if anyone else had some I didn't know about. Maybe some points of reasoning.

OK to study the Bible alone?
by Disposable Hero in[i] "from time to time, there have arisen from among the ranks of jehovah's.
people those, who, like the original satan, have adopted an independent,.
faultfinding attitude...they say that it is sufficient to read the bible.

The more I study on my own, the more I find that the WT has wrong. I'm beginning to think "Christendo" may be closer to the truth than they are

Will trade memorial for 2 hours talk with apostate
by Faraon inaccording to our divorce agreement between my ex and i, i would get our daughters all school holidays in exchange for memorial day, and the other three yearly propaganda meetings.
key is that she had to tell me their dates by february 2 of the year in session.
she did not tell me, so i told her that i would not let her have them next thursday unless she talked to me about religion for two hours.

Let her take them! If you make such a big deal about it, the kids may go in the opposite direction and you don't want that. She will also tell them it is satan trying to keep them from the memorial etc etc. You'd be better off just letting her take them, then you don't look like a bad guy!

What would happen if I partook at the memorial?
by lv4fer ini was just wondering.
would they disfellowship me?
would they just take me aside and question me?

I was just wondering. Would they disfellowship me? Would they just take me aside and question me? Has anyone while still in good standing partaken of the emblems and if so what happened? I'm feeling that I am denying Christ if I don't partake. It has always bothered me not to partake, but I am sure now that it is wrong not to partake. I was planning on partaking at home after the memorial at home with my family.

I'm screwed..........
by butalbee ini went w/ my ex to the hall tonight, don't remember much except walking in, hiding in the bathroom for half hour, and dodging all the schmoozing when trying to exit the building.
i also remember my ex holding my hand and smiling at me.
it was a happy smile, like "i am so glad you're here w/ me", but it hinted of evil intentions.

I really don't know your X, and maybe this is a dumb question, is it possible to have a relationship with him and not be a JW? Tell him how you feel, what you beleive and see if he is still interested, explain that you are not going to compromise your feelings or beleifs. He may just leave you alone and you won't have to worry about him. If he isn't willing to let you be your own person than loose him. You will be miserable. Being miserable is worse than being lonely!

What Is Your Hope Now???
by YYHWH inmy hope for over 30 years was the same as many here on this site.
when i made my decesion to no longer me a jw at first i just figured that i was a goat and that i would just die at armageddon along with all the other wicked ones.
well after doing some research on the dubs and on religion in general i have come to some differnt conclusions about life, death and what might happen when you die.. i have to be honest and tell you that it has been difficult to accept the fact that any hope of any sort of life after death is very unfounded.. i have come to believe that religion is for people who cannot accept the only certainty we have in this life is that you are going to die.. my hope is that i can live this life and be able to raise my children up to be responsible and productive adults.

I hope for a resurrection to life in heaven or on earth. I'm not done on my research yet, but to this point it would seem that heaven is where my hope is. I really don't care which as long as it somewhere. THis life can't be all their is, what a waste if it was. To spend 70 - 80 years learning so much and then that's it. For what? There must be more and the bible does point to more. I'm just not positive about where or what? I'm really leaning toward heaven though at least that is where my studies have leaned me towards.

Memorial Scrabbling
by Demitrius inwell they are scabbling around to find as many people to attend the memorial again this year.. i walked out 3.5 years ago and have not heard anything since from the elders.
i have one that lives about 50 metres away and he is one that has not even telephoned me in all that time.
.. just the other night he turns up on my door step and hands me the usual invite!

What is their reasoning to invite everyone? I never have understood this. Is it for the sole purpose of making their statistics look good? The thing that always cracked me up is the way they play with their numbers. They give a count of 6 million or so active publishers, but when they give the count at the memorial they count every man, woman, and child. Then they say look at all these potential people. What a joke. Most of the numbers come from inactive that feel guilty and go to the memorial or kids that aren't old enough to be publishers but at the memorial get counted. Why do they want to kid themself? Are most witnesses that stupid that they don't see this?

Children and inculcation
by larc inthe jws teach that you must bring the children to meetings.
they must be inculcated, and hear, read, and respond to what is good and bad.
that is how i was raised in the religion.

My kids have been raised in the truth. Although now I realize it really was a lie. They are good kids (17 & 13), we were never the pioneers or elders in the congegration just run of the mill publishers. I think my kids just followed my husbands and my example. So far so good, they aren't perfect but nobody is. They are a lot better than some of the other kids at our local KH.
