Wow this thread is really affecting me. I was at Bethel in the late 80s early 90s and people there were still talking about Ray, in whispered tones and conversations. Deep down many knew that he was not "the boogie man" he was made out to be.
Then when speaking to some brothers that knew him and worked with him more things gelled with me, and now we all know a lot of the story. Not all of it, but much of it. Three brothers worked on the Aid book, and that was the beginning- all three left the WT org one way or the other. Ray was slow to come around but he eventually was convinced by the other two that this was NOT "the truth" and there was systemic flaws in the Org that "could not be made straight."

this is a long series.
im finding more and more that jw's are so illequiped for debate, that they cant even make coherent arguments.
Awesome meetings with the elders- he outreasons these "older men" by a mile. I'd love to hear more of these.
I will say that the elders do show patience. He stands up to them, he debates them for hours bravely. Benighted and misguided as they are, they are sincere IMO. But we all know that sincerity alone is not enough...
i need to speak to anyone who is a mature christian.
someone who has maintained their faith in jehovah and in christ jesus.
i have felt that many things i have been taught are inconsistent for some time.
Sometimes I really love watching this forum- and ones like this can really encourage us all.
hi friends,.
we have a drive at our new ajwrb.org site for donating blood for witnesses!
great publicity campaign, as people will finally realize that jehovah's witnesses do take blood transfusions!time to end the word-game charade.
Great cause Randy- and a great way to help people see that JWs do NOT abstain from blood.
I for one have been following this case since the beginning and feel like saying a hearty THANK YOU to Ex-JW.com.
The work they have done on this case is amazing. And thanks to Mr. Steele are due as well. He has been trying to defend these innocent brothers against a massive publishing empire with almost unlimited resources.
Hopefully more of the full story (and substantiations for the many incredible allegations) will come to light.
i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.
i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.
MsGrowingGirl20 - I am very proud of you for reading CoC. Knowledge is power and only then can you make an informed decision. I just finished saying a prayer for you sis. Hang in there and keep learning!
Only then will you gain the "very wisdom and knowledge of God." (Proverbs 2:1-9) Some that have read the book have lost faith in God and in the Bible.Don't ever allow that to happen.
Ray
The wagons are still circled...and their sin remains.
You won't hear the "Child Protection List" talked about much during the WT study.
If you want an interesting conversation, walk up to one of the elders and ask them how many names are on their Child Protection List and see what they say...
BTW thanks Bangalore for this scan.
well, i sat thru day 2 of the latest circuit assembly.
instead of having the co or do re address the "generation" confusion, they had a couple of brothers do a demonstration.
mocha break out in service, weaker brother mentions he's tired....all of the changes lately, the confusing new understanding of that generation, et al.
@Vidqun - Short answer: Yes it is. If he cries, pleads, appears contrite, etc.
Longer answer: The Elder book says to look for signs of repentance. This would be certain wording such as, "I regret what I did", "I feel horrible for the reproach I've brought against Jehovah", etc. Also tears are mentioned as a possible indicator, but not the only one. On a JC I was on once the other two elders decided to DF because the brother didn't apologize, didn't say the expected words/phrases. I disagreed, verbally grappled with them for quite a while and then finally caved and went along with their decision as they were the older ones...I hate that I was any part of that but oh well we ultimately did him a favor he is actually doing well and living a normal life I hear.
So anything can happen on these things. It's a crapshoot and in the hands of the three elders and their interpretation of the book, their upbringing, I.Q., the person's facial expressions, how badly the elders want/need to get home, etc.
