Help me to answer a few questions for a current JW?

i'm talking to this girl right now who is technically still a witness.

she doenst go to the meetings anymore but not because she does not feel its the truth.

her parents are no longer witnesses and i want to get her to see the truth about the "truth" before she decides to go back in.

Hi Still stuck cruz! Hope you are doing ok! Heres what i would say to the questions from my own point of view:

Jehovah want's people to gain accurate knowlege right? So where do they gain this knowledge if they are not JW's?

The bible states that those taking in accurate knowledge with live eternaly. This knowledge comes from Jesus and is found written in the gospels. :)

Jehovah wants his people to be united right? So why should we not disfellowship those who have a difference of opinion? That only creates disuniuty! JW's are the only people who are entirely united on the Earth. Worldly churches can even agree on their own teachings.

The bible teaches in Ephesians that Christ has a congregation in which all are united in one hope, one body, one spirit, etc. I personaly feel as do many scholars that this is a symbolic congregation. The unity your friend is refering to is unity in which all are united in following the Christ. It does not refer to just one religion or just one church but to all individual people who believe and have faith in Jesus.

What other group do you know that goes preaching from door to door on the same scale as JW's? The bibe says to preach to every land(bla bla bla). Jehovahs Witnesses are the only group doing that on such a scale. this proves they are the truth.

Not nescesarily true either. The mormons preach a lot. You will also find MANY other religious groups who preach. This isnt nescesarily on the doors but in the town centres, the marketplaces, the places or worship etc. I have seen one man in my nearest city who reaches more people in 5 minutes than my old conregation did in one mornings ministry. I think his preaching is more effective personaly. I do agree that preaching is part of Gods will, but its very ignorant to believe that only JWs do it.

Why are all the annointed ONLY in the JW religion? (I used to wonder the same thing until I did research)

Because its an exclusive teaching to JWs. I dont think anyone else has this belief so they dont realy care much for it.

I dont know if what i have said is right, but this is the way i percieve the answers to these questions. I hope you have found them helpful.

AWESOME coincidence today in college!

last week was my first week in college on my new counselling course.

last year i decided i wanted to join a course which would help me to understand my own sufferings and try to help others to do the same.

we introduced ourselves to our class mates and i made it very clear to them all that i am gay and i was kicked out of the jehovahs witnesses and now im much happier.

Last year I decided I wanted to join a course which would help me to understand my own sufferings and try to help others to do the same. We introduced ourselves to our class mates and I made it very clear to them all that i am gay and I was kicked out of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and now im much happier. On coffee break, one of the women on the course came up to me and congratulated me on being true to myself and leaving the JW's. She then went into some detail about her experiences with Jehovah’s Witnesses. She said that she has always found them to be very odd and most unreasonable, but she pointed out that only once, she had a lovely conversation with a nice young JW who was pleasant and polite. I told her that very few JW’s are like that.

Anyway, today, we got chatting a little more and we decided that it would help our studies if we met up next week sometime. She said she would call me on Tuesday as she is going to see her mum who lives in a certain street nearby where I live. When she said the name of the street, I kind of stopped and ran through all the references I have to that street (this is just a psychological thing I do - I think I like to try and make connections). Naturally, one of the connections I have is the fact that I have preached there several times. I asked which house and she said the number. THEN I STOPPED!

I then reasoned it all through in my head and said to her: "IV MET YOU BEFORE!" I explained that i preached in that area on that house about 10 months ago and i met a woman about your height, who enjoys spirituality and holistic therapy, and who had just finished a counselling course and was going to start another one in September. She then said: "YES!!! ITS YOU! YOU WERE THE NICE YOUNG JW MAN !" When she said that i was shocked. I remember having the conversation with her about spirituality and really connecting with her. I was going through a lot at that point suffering with my sexuality and the religion and we just clicked. Needless to say the brother I was with wanted to bring it all back to JW speak, but we were having a great chat. Hehe...

Anyway, it’s crazy that we are now on the same course. She said to me that she remembered our chat and that it didn’t even click that the young man she was referring to was the very young man that she was drinking coffee with at that very moment. She then commended me further for how much I have grown and how proud she is of me already.

Anyway, the whole experience made me feel very close to her and i feel we are going to be great friends. It also goes to show that all this crap that everyone who isnt a JW is wicked is utter shi*e!

i thought it was very informative and unbiased.

i gather from my other thread that many liked the creation books, the mankind search for god book, the greatest man book and the ministry school book.. but which book did you absolutely detest?.

Were YOU a Pushy JW?

i hated jws that were pushy.

some tried to impose their "bible trained consciences" on everyone.

or the pushy ones would go from house to house and argue with the householder!

I was NEVER pushy! I LOVED talking to people about Jesus when preaching but if they didnt agree or if they had their beliefs i just thanked them, wished them well and moved on. Every now and then id be with brother tactless who would just steam ahead in the conversation and say to the householders face that he was going to die if he didnt listen.

MAKES ME CRINGE JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUCK!!!! Im glad im out of such a destructive religion.

Its also interesting to note that the verse they quote so often in 1 Corinthians 5 was refering to a man who was sleeping with his mother in law. This has been expanded to mean ALL those sinning against the organisation, including those who choose to leave voluntarily or decide it isnt the truth anymore.

Paul again refers to this man in 2 Corinthians 2, where he says that they should lovingly forgive him and warmly encourage him so that he doesnt get swallowed up in sadness. Its odd though that this part of Paul's councel is NEVER spoken of!

They also use 2 John 10-11:

10 If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him. 11 For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.

Yesterday, an older JW sister said hi to me and my dad pointed out then, that this means she also MUST be gay!!! HAHA!!!

what do jws have to say when getting baptised ? do they dedicate to god and jesus or the watchtower ?

Ooooohhh now this is interesting! JWs LOVE to quote Matthew 28:19.

"Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit,"

The JWs pride themselves on preaching about God throughout the entire earth, however, ask yourself, do they baptise in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit? No they dont! They baptise in the name of an organisation! HUH??????

Im not too sure but I feel my baptism is invalid.

The WT also teach that your life should still be filled with rules, regulations and principles which arnt found in the bible. Jesus asks his followers to follow only 2 laws.
