Could the Governing Body be the "Evil Slave" of Matt. 24:48-51?
by matt2414 in48 but if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, my master is delaying, 49 and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, 50 the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, 51 and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites.
there is where [his] weeping and the gnashing of [his] teeth will be.
" mt 24:48-51 nwt.

Jesus condemned the Scribes & Pharisees for their pious contempt of the flock. Their cold & heartless treatment of Jesus' sheep, even when they knew what was actually expected of them garnered them everlasting destruction. Sound familiar GB? Sleep well evil slave.

Billy; Let me know if they end the funeral service with the line " some here today may live forever." Yeah, I heard that line at a service last year. Obviously, the dead sister didn't make the cut.

I'm waiting for the "Mr. Fusion" device that was on the Delorean in "Back to the Future". Where is that cold fusion when we need it? Sure would like to watch the Middle East turn back into camel country.

unless yahweh intervenes quite soon, we're gonna have the technological essence of the purpose of the tower of babel..... and as you may recall, "nothing that they may have in mind to do will be unattainable for them".. godspeed to that.
no, it won't be skynet - but it might be the internet apotheosized!

As one of my teachers said years ago " Nothing is impossible. The impossible just takes a little longer." Thanks Mr. Cook.

Thanks all. I'm the grand dad. My youngest argues that I would never have listened when I was in, which is true. But lives change. Mine did. I'm hoping her's will too. She posted my granddaughter's first school assignment on her Facebook page. The thought of one more life damaged by this cult is almost too much to bear. My son-in-law is a great guy, but I doubt he would ever cross my daughter.

Hello all. I left several years ago & have one daughter still in. She's 32 & married to a nonbeliever. After I got labeled as an APOSTATE, she cut off all communication. Recently, they moved back into the area & I was considering sending at least one letter explaining my position. I mainly wanted to direct her to Paul's site as I couldn't argue any points better. I asked my youngest daughter who's inactive what she thought. She didn't think it was a good idea. I would hate to look back twenty years from now after my grandchildren have grown, wishing I had done something. Any advice or experiences?

As disciples of Jesus, JW's recognize the authority of Jesus Christ as exercised through "the faithful and discreet slave." - Our Kingdom Ministry
by wannabefree inyep, that was in the may 1986 okm.. i was sitting on the floor, going through my binder of old km's looking at the ones from the year i came into the truth cult ... it's funny (in a pathetic way) how nothing has really changed (well, except for new or brighter light stuff).
twenty-six years ago it was just as much a cult as it is today .. and i couldn't see it.. the article goes on to say .... "keep in mind that we are helping bible students to become disciples of jesus christ and not disciples of ourselves".
... since jesus' exercises his authority through "the faithful and discreet slave", i guess it would also be accurate to say "keep in mind that we are helping bible students to become disciples of the faithful and discreet slave and not disciples of ourselves".

You never get a straight answer about who's to blame for the mistakes. If they are indeed "authorized" by Christ, then Jesus has to take the fall. Yet blaming Jesus for changed doctrine that ruined lives violates the "the law of love." So they are left on the horns of a dilemma. If Jesus is not responsible, then the JW's are following men. They might do just as well following Ronald McDonald. (Might get a free hamburger.)
