so, who is the society's stooge here?.

it goes without saying that the society uses stooges (i.e.

plants) on the web.

when i arrived home from work last night, there was a business card on my front door (common marketing ploy around here).. it was very plain, just a little picture of a windmill and it said "dutch enterprises"--washing windows since 1975. now, i haven't had a chance to call mr. dutch enterprises, but you can bet i will.. i'll be sure come back and let you all know why mr d.e.

Every obscure disease known or unknown to man

did you all ever notice how "sick" the "friends" seemed to always be with weird diseases and ailments and blood disorders?

i swear i have never seen so many cases of "chronic fatigue syndrome" and "blood viruses" as i did when i was a jw.

they were constant shoppers at the local homeopathic stores, stocking their shelves with every herb and rub and remedy...and nothing seemed to help these mysterious ailments.

I wasn't going to comment, but I just have to! I recently mentioned this strange *phenomenon* to my sister, and we had a good laugh/cry over it!

My mom and all 3 of her sisters have been 'sick' since I can remember. My mom really did have some severe health problems culminating in a hysterectomy. However, she's never recovered from this episode 15 years + ago.

In addition, her sisters, all lifetime devout JWs are now in their 60's and 70's.NOT ONE of them is in good health. I believe this is from a lifetime of NEGLECT. Not exercising (Bodily devotion is beneficial for a little), coupled with the strong belief that "jehovah will make it all better *soon*" is very damaging to millions, and it's going to get worse!

Just watch over the next few years as the baby boomers start to get older, and wonder why they can't walk up a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing! It's because they were at the meeting two nights a week, and you know they weren't at the gym the other 3 nights!

Anyone my age (30+) who remembers being told "Bodily devotion is beneficial for a little" everytime they asked permission to join a school sports team will vouch for this.

Loves, I hope you have taken the anti-JW drug, exercise, seriously. It's really hard to get your body back in great shape, and take responsibility for your health. Esp. when all you hear is how "It's Adam and Eve's fault and Jehovah will fix it."

Foot and Mouth Disease

to our friends in the uk and now in france, this is a terrible thing you are going through!.

just hearing the news about the quarantine measures in place, etc etc, seeing the pictures of all the poor animals that are having to be slaugtered, is very sad!.

i was watching cnn/bbc last night where they said a letter was 'suspected' as being the transmission source of the virus!.

If the virus is spread this easily, with all the trans-atlantic travel, it can't be far behind here! I, for one, have filled my freezer with meat. I am sure your meat prices are skyrocketing, too!

Is it just me, or is anyone else disgusted by Friend's example of "Mildred and Carvin."

Not to change the subject or anything, but how dare some woman who can't even keep her own relationship out of the gutter (and off of the police blotter) 'pioneer' and spend a jillion hours a month telling others how to be as happy as she is! And she continued to pioneer blithely! How FREAKIN hypocritical is this?!?!?

I just about want to barf when reading your story, Friend. The elders should have counseled her that she needed to put her pioneering on hold, go get some INTENSIVE THERAPY with 'Carvin' or get a divorce lawyer and clean up her life, not told her 'it was her decision if she wanted to pioneer'.

They also commended Mildred for her willingness to work toward reconciliation in spite of her husbands sometimes impossible temperament

EWWW, disgusting. And the 'anecdotal' story proves nothing. Mildred didn't have her husband arrested, sheran for assistance and the motel manager called the police and they arrested him. Perhaps you don't know it, but there is a HUGE difference, Friend. Where an officer of the law sees evidence of physical assualt[b], he/she is obligated to press charges on behalf of the state. This is different than MILDRED actually pressing charges. And there is more to this story than meets the eye, Friend. Even if he found her car at a motel (possible in a small town) he still would have no way of knowing what room she was in. Even if he did find her room, and he was outside the door being an a@@hole, she could have called the manager from her room. This story is a piece of swiss cheese, and the holes are all of the important facts.

Aside to Focus, I have been called a lot of things but 'naive' is [b]HARDLY

one of them. And it's OK, you don't have to mention me in your posts, no more than you have to 'dip my ponytail in the inkwell' to prove how much you dislike me, LOL!

Then please relate several of those experiences where a JW immediately ran to the police, and suffered no adverse consequences.

You are a fool (I say this meaning NO disrepect, only affectionate kindness) to minimize the impact of the Society's Unspoken rules....

You are one of those about whom the Society spoke of in 1976 after the 1975 fiasco, are you? Did you also have an overactive imagination like the WTBS says about the rest of those who expected Armageddon?

Don't be fooled.

below you will find the affirmations of humanism for children.. secular humanists believe there is no god; which in a round-about way makes you responible for your own actions.. their website is at http://www.secularhumanism.org.

while i don't agree with all of their teachings, the manifesto is an excellent parenting tool.

(i think you'll see how different it is from jw upbringing) i think you'll find that you could raise a very balanced and emotionally stable child following these guidelines.
