What a great post. Just a question; I didn't understand the paragraph about why you couldn't give the funeral talk. Were the children DFd or something?!?!
wts attorney--morenowhos screwed?!?.
the legal liabilities are rapidly mounting for congregation elders & kingdom hall properties.
this will involve all legal matters especially pedophile cases.

my kid brother, tom, was born to witness parents.
he was something of a surprise package and my parents were delighted.
my father said that tom was:.
Hey TR,
he he he, man you are brave to admit that!
Larc,
I know where Xandit lives and you are wrong, wrong, wrong, mister!
He lives on story 115 of My Book of Bible Stories! Look, here's the headlines from his local newspaper, where a JW is the fastest middle distance runner!
Look at those tall trees, pretty flowers and high mountains! Isn't it beautiful here? Wouldn't you like to live in a house in a place like this?
C'mon, it's obvious Xandit drank the KoolAid! He lives in a fantasy land; only in his world do JWs do everything they want with little or no repercussions for disagreeing with the stated word of God's Servant! Everyone else here except for Fred Hall and Xandit is delirious and should RUN not walk to the Shrink! You imagined everything negative you're recalling!
Xandit: I'm familiar with the quote from the Watchtower, but I also know, at least in my experience, that most people don't pay a shred of attention to that kind of stuff. Man, do your local elders know this?
just wondering..... for those of us who are inactive, or have serious doubts, etc etc... are you going to the memorial, even though you don't fully agree with how they explain things?.
anyone planning to have their own at home?.
or are you still planning on going, even if it's to say g'day to long "lost" friends?.
Eyes,
Don't feel bad! Just the other day I was having a discussion from a moderator on one of the Witness boards, and he felt he didn't want to go because if he went, he felt he should partake.
I told him to relax, not all of Jesus' followers were with him at the Lord's Evening Meal. Shoot, most of the new converts to Christianity didn't even know anything special was going on that night, since they were obviously used to observing Passover the Jewish way.... So if you feel the need to go and partake or not, so be it.
In the words of Coolidge from 'The White Shadow,'
"Who you callin' a knicker?"
this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.
we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.
we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.
Who is in charge of the all-important snack bar?

No, I really meant it! I liked your post, it made me laugh...

Deacon,
I'll see what I can do about the guards--I should be able to get them to let you out at least one hour a day! Also wasn't ignoring you. My busiest work week of the year (remember what I do and what holiday is coming up).....
Happy,
Wasn't calling you a name, was saying it was foolish to think that way or jump to conclusions before you knew the context. If you had read the thread that Amicus so kindly posted the link to you would have understood the context and meaning of the thread. Hopefully, if you do catch me telling anyone what to do, you'll stop me. But in this case you were wrong.
Eyes,
We'll start another thread soon. Too bad you weren't able to respond first so that you could have set the tone for the thread.... It's obvious people are jumping to your defense, which could be flattering, except that in this case it's not!
RHW,
You are right, you know. I hadn't thought much about it but in any event we have rote prayer times..... In the past I had thought my prayers were tending to be monotonous, but I try now to vary widely the subject matter. Most of the time I just say a prayer of thanks.
Logical,
Your post made perhaps the most sense of all! Thanks for contributing to such an emotional thread!

Happy,
After reading the thread carefully, I don't know how you could think I was attempting to *literally* tell Eyes what to do.
Amicus posted the link to the discussion; if you haven't read it you should do so before jumping to conclusions (like others have.)
FOOLISH to think in such a small minded way!
Mommy, I go out of my way to catch myself from saying I was raised in the truth, specifically because it insinuates everyone else is living a lie! Yes, of course it will take time.
As for the person who *warned* you, Happy, just remember: A dog that brings a bone also carries one away. Be glad I give *no credence* to anything one poster says about another here.......

Larc,
Your chips story reminds me of the time I went in Taco Bell a few weeks ago. After I placed and paid for my order, I noticed a little chalkboard promo that read:
'For a few cents more you really can have it all!' --a somewhat lame attempt to sell pretend guacamole for 50 cents a squirt....
I gave the young man at the register 4 more pennies and told him, "Change my order to all." He did not appreciate my humor.
A prophet is never honored in his home country.
Sigh.
