'Changes That Disturb People' Awake 4/22/70
by ISP inone of the reasons is that people are disturbed by what is happening in their churches.
yes, millions of persons have been shocked to learn that things they were taught as being vital for salvation are now considered by their church to be wrong.
have you, too, felt discouragement, or even despair, because of what is happening in your church?

NWT
by amicus inwhen reading the new world translation i used to sometimes think, who translated this gobbledygook?..
i just read another passage where the nwt manages to slaughter the english language.. acts 21:30 .
nwt ...., and a running together of the people occurred:.... kjv ..., and the people ran together:.... niv ..., and the people came running from all directions.. this is an excerpt from the foreword of the nwt; it is a very responsible thing to translate the holy scriptures........into modern speech.

I don't think anyone is *Angry* at DFD. I think, maybe *incredulous* is a better word. ha ha.
DF'D, Path: I am not lost on the matter of Malawi. You're confusing the issue. There are two separate issues: Voting Cards and Voting.
First of all, let me say something that I *thought* was obvious, but apparently not.
In a one-party state, *not* carrying that one party's card would be tantamount to political subversion. Duh, if there is only one political party in the whole country and you don't support it, who *do* you support? In reality, you are being subversive and if the laws of that country require you to carry that card and you don't, I would guess that you could be killed for treason.
Now, whether or not you vote is another whole issue. Even people in this country know that just because you're registered to vote doesn't mean you *have* to.
The thing is, this exchange started because you stated the Society never said it was ok to vote, and you're wrong. Nov 99 QFR *clearly* labels voting a conscience matter.
My question to you: when did it become a conscience matter?
And, why are our bros and sis experience in Malawi being invoked in a 1999 article on VOTING, that's V-O-T-I-N-G.This is what you wrote to me:
::LDH
I am truly stunned. And I am not being facetious. Since when are we or anyone else able to vote with a clean conscience ?? If you can quote one published comment by the wtbs condoning this I will..um I will eat my hat.::
Then you wrote:
::LDH
Not so fast girl.I asked you to show me a quote from the WBTS condoning or supporting the act of voting. ( presumably in a political sense as you mentioned Malawi )
You implied that the wbts has changed their view point::
Which is a LIE. What you *asked* was for me to show you where the WBTS says we can vote with a clean conscience. Which I did, I cited the Nov 99 QFR. Then you lied and said what you had asked me was to show you where the WBTS condones or supports voting! >:( Any high schooler can see where you changed your argument, you've been well trained by the WBTS to change your wording, seemingly innoculously! If it's a God-D*@# conscience matter, the WBTS doesn't *have* to support or condone the said activity. DUH. Voting is clearly *NOW* a conscience matter, According to the Nov 99 QFR.
Stop changing the subject and having people falsely defend your right to post here. If you're going to post here fine, we welcome you. But don't outright lie and say one thing and then later say something totally different.
You must've forgotten where you are. You're on a board where *we* have been trained to pick apart holes in the arguments of householders and boy, did I just find a *HOLE*.
You will be graciously accepted if you offer your apologies, and then eat your hat as you originally stated.
And another thing, (this time to everyone reading this board): Stop assuming you know the spiritual state of another poster. I would hazard a guess that Jehovah cares a lot more about your heart condition, your motivations and your intentions than he does about what title you wear.

PS, almost forgot. DF'd, you wrote:
::Did you notice that it quoted and re-iterated the comments from the 1950 WT. It was partly due to that very 1950 WT that the Malawian brothers made there decisions.
But let me shed mpre light on what happened in Malawi. Were the witnesses persecuted there for not voting ? NO.::
If the Malawi issue wasn't regarding voting, why would the 1950 WT be a factor in their decision making, and why in 1999, would it need to be 'reiterated' in an article that is , OBVIOUSLY ABOUT VOTING!!! (Not about carrying political cards)
Especially since you point out that the Malawian brothers weren't persecuted for not voting.
(Did anyone tell them that?)

Path,
You know what? You are right. That article, like many others, is a masterful piece of doubletalk.
I don't know why I would expect a Witness to notice the difference in the wording, when in fact it was written in such a way to *seemingly* make it appear that our stance hasn't changed one bit.
Let's see, in addition to Oral Sex, Anal Sex,Talking with df'd family members, and Blood Transfusions, *VOTING* is now a 'conscience matter.'
Wht strikes me as the interesting, all of these are *private concerns* anyway. So why do we need someone to tell us what is a conscience matter? So that the terms 'spiritually mature' can be invoked. As is, "Voting is a conscience matter. But Spiritually Mature Christians may not want to stumble others by engaging in political activity." Hogwash.
Df'd is obviously having his own crisis of conscience, here, folks. That's why he's here in this forum. He can't talk to any 'real' Witness, so we'll do in the meantime.
One ? DF'd. Why do you want to be included in a group that doesn't want you; and are those that turn their back on you in your time of need your real friends?

Am I welcome here?
by WanderingStar ini am currently df'd but seriously considering returning to the meetings with a view to reinstatement.
i am looking for honest, open minded discussion.
if i offend you all by being here, please let me know and i wont come back again.. thanks for reading this!

Deacon, I agree with you.
I guess my point was, DF'D is judging people as bitter, when they're really not.
I thought it was kind of sanctimonious of him to use this board to have fellowship with all of 'us' and condemn 'us' in the same breath. Without really knowing anyone here.
RHW was right.
But I have to also say, I have received emails from people who post here who are really *hurting* deacon. They don't understand something that they thought they were an intimate part of.
