i have made a couple of remarks regarding family dynamics on other threads, but i thought it's be nice to start a new thread.... i'm no psychologist, but suffice it to say i see some similarities here.

By the way, there's a girlee type person asking about college on another thread. Maybe you could give her some advice. I gave her my 85 cents worth, but someone like you who is doing it would have more credebility than some old fogey like me.
when viv mouritz , former branch coordinator in australia, addressed the special meeting of sydney and surrounding area congregations at the superdome last weekend, he blamed the young witnesses who were leaving "the truth" for the drop in numbers in australia.. at the service meeting this week in one sydney congregation it was announced by a bethel elder that the elders have been told (as if they didn't know already!
) that 2,000 have left "the truth" in the past two years in australia.
this typical congregation of 120 publishers has lost 19 inactive since 1999.. the march 2001 issue of kingdom ministry (australian edition) gives the number of publishers for december as 58,426, pioneers 3,315 and 19 baptized.. in dec '98 there were 58,706 pubs,and in dec '99 there were 58,000.. with 1,600-1,800 being baptized each year, there is indeeed a 2,000 shortfall.. so, who's to blame?

There are some here who have college degrees. There are at least two on this DB that are going to college right now (DrivesLikeJehu and Lurker). There are also some older ones who did not go and regret it. Many of these are encouraging their children to go. Personaly, I think you should go for it. I think that you may get a hard time while you are going. Some of your sisters may think you are "uppity", especialy if you say something intelligent. My hunch is that if you graduate and either pioneer or get a good job you will then be respected again. It is a lot easier to pioneer or do other worhtwhile things if you have marketable skills. If you graduate and take a good paying job, you can always give financial assistance to those who are living meagerly as they pioneer.

At the age of 60, I think I'll stay off the football field. The last time I played many years ago a JW came through the line and rammed his elbow into my chin and split it wide open... ah memories, memories. I would be up for a game of baseball (not softball). Also, I still play a good game of table tennis..not looking forward to the day when my reflexes really slow down.
The people at your hall would love me. I would go from apostate to elder in about thirty minutes.
Now, Xandit, regarding your counseling techniques. Sometimes you have to pat people on the head before you kick 'em in the butt. On a serious note, I don't know it you have been around someone close to you who had serious mental problems. It is not easy and it is not a simple matter of telling them to shape up, believe me.

Thank you so much for telling me that I am a great apostate. You know, I do the best I know how, but some times you get doubts and think you could do better, apotate wise, than you are doing. You people are so warm and loving and you have restored my belief in my apostate abilities. Thank you so much. I am forever in you debt. This whole evening has made me feel, well, kind of warm all over.
