Thank you for your scriptural support, with Gen. 1: 3 and 4 about the light and not the heavy. Now, I have discovered another important scripture. This very important scripture is just before the one you quoted. It is important becaues it proves beyond question that it is all right to watch and even play baseball. This indisputable fact is part of the new light and a new addition to our growing religious heritage. In Gen. 1:1 it says, "In the Big Inning." Break out the brewskies and enjoy.

I still haven't got to my sermon on luve and and respect, but I will soon.

this is my first time on this board.

i have been a jw for over 40 years but currently am very discouraged and not very active.

i served at bethel for 4 years, 1963-67, spent most of my time at the kindom farms, s.lansing, ny.

What are the reasons?

hi all,.

someone asked me the other day why i am so interested in reading about jws,ex jws and things that are going on with the wts.. i think for the most part,only those who have been involved with the wts can understand why we are so interested in the subject.. of course having believed everything the wts has told us over the years and dedicating our lives to it kept us tied in with them.. what are the different reasons that you all have for continuing to be preocupied with the wts?.

I am here to talk about issues because other people just don't understand what it was like to live in that subculture. I have, on occasion, been with people who have brought up the sbject of JWs. Sometimes these people have misconcepts of the belief system, so I end up clarifying or expalining the JWs which is OK to to but not especially enjoyable for me. If it gets past that and I get into to what their problems really are or what I went through, they either don't get it or get tired of the subject and want to move on to something else. You rarly can get a true empathy from those who never have experienced it. It has been a good thing to Have my friend JAVA here in town, and of course, my wife and I can talk about this stuff, but it is nice to have a wider audience of people, as is found here, to share ideas and approaches in dealing with many common frustrations and concerns. Before, finding this site, I have attended BRCI conferences on occasion. I find real life interaction with these people to be very beneficial.

I think that the official Watchtower site is the only apostate site on the list. I remember one time my sister told my I was too proud and that I should humble myself. I told her that I thought that the Watchtower Society was too proud and it should humble itself. That was a real conversation stopper.

i beleive it was a local needs part on getting out in service.

My story is not as funny as ones I have read here, but I am compelled to tell it anyway. First, I have give a little background. Ulga was a very sincere poineer women. Her husband Bob was kind off the wall, fun loving guy, which means I really liked him. I remember one day in service we are on our way between houses and out of a clear blue sky he asked me "Are you a virgin?" I like that kind of directness.

Well, I told you that to tell you this.

One Friday night when they were doing the role play on how to deal with people at the door step, Bob was playing the part of the householder, and poor Erny who was a nice man, but not too good as reader was playing the part of the expert Witness at the door. So Erny read the scripture about the Meek Inheriting the Earth, but his pronouciation wasn't very good so Bob, asked "What did you say" and so Erny repeated, and Bob said, Oh, I thought you said the mink will inherit the earth." I got a grin; the rest of the audience was agast.

Another sleepless night

I was blessed to meet a wonderful man, Peter Gregerson. He was the man that had lunch with Ray Franz, which prompted Franz's disfellowshipment. He was disfellowshipped because he had lunch with a disfellowshipped person. With all the goods they had on Ray Franz that's what they got him for.

I told you that to tell you this.

Peter was like you. He simply didn't believe it anymore. So what he did was plant small seeds of doubt. Once in awhile he would say something like, "You know, there's something I don't quite understand, this thing is not clear to me, etc." By being very slow and patient he was able to bring out his entire family. I don't know if that will work for you, but as you said earlier there is no gain in hitting your husband with everything. If you do, as you already know, he will just get angry and defend himself.

Brothers and sisters,

I do believe I have trouble in my own household. My dear wife does not want to go into the swet box in order to go to a better place and she talks to you about jogging and sweating. That woman has never jogged a day in her life. Oh me, Oh my, what to do, what to do. I just have to remember one thing that the greatest Baptist preacher of all time, Billy Graham could not convert his own wife. She was Prespeterian. Lord forgive me but I could spell the name of that last a fore mentioned religion. After I get over my grief in my own household, I will be back to give another dose of spiritual truth.

Flock .... Say Ahmen.

Oh, by the way my next sermon will be on the subject of luve and respect. Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter of Heresy of the Month.

a 'friend' of mine keeps telling me that everything i am reading here on this board is a packload of lies from people who have no respect for god.. he also tells me that if i would just go to the kh for once, that i would see for myself that jws are not the bad people that they are portrayed to be.. while i have my own convictions about this subject, i was curious to know what others' opinions would be on the fruitfullness of taking up this man's offer and going to the kh to see for myself.

so, what do you think?

Everthing you said is so true and so well stated. It so sad and so true at the same time. I don't think our friend Ianao will fall into that trap. He is well versed in what they teach and I think he is very wary of the trap. He is in no way new to this subject. He is a very savy man.

TR, it is too bad, but too true the acid hatred they bring out in us, for what they have done to us. We try to be kind so that we can help others, but underneath their is a raging fury. Maybe that is good. Maybe that's what keeps us going.

Everybody,

Ianao is not going there as a dewey eyed novice. If you read all of his writings here you would understand that he is very well versed in everything that they teach, probably better than than the rank and file that will great him at the door. I think he wants to experience what it is like to meet these people that he has read about. I understand his curiosity and I have no fear for his safety. He is a very strong, intelligent man.
