you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.

All this chit chat is nice and all, but I think we need to get back to the very serious subject at hand. Now that you have had a chance to read and absorb Thinker's words of inspiration, and you have read my indisputable additional proofs, it is time for me to introduce more meat in due season which is only meant to enhance what we have already learned here and not in any way meant to dispute established truth.

The scriptures plainly show with no uncertainty that people today will not enter into a great tribulation as is taught by the wicked, Satanic religions of this world. Oh, no, the wicked grease eaters and the back sliding cheeseburger mongers will enter into the "Great Fribillation." and if that time was not cut short, heart attacks would be everywhere and medical insurance costs would soar. Truly, and unmistakedly, this is sign of the last days.

Platlets...can WTBTS policy be defended?

if this topic has been addressed already...sorry...just ignore it.... if not...i would like to hear from those who would defend this policy....or who see the inconsistencies in the views on blood but the wtbts.. .

there is no question that the watchtower's blood policy needlessly kills jw children.

Well, the WT has rejected almost all of the old testemant law. Too bad they had to keep the one out of many that causes so much human suffereing. Just the luck of the draw, I guess. One out of ten odds and they had to draw this one.

Good News

matt.24:14. this good news will be preached in all the earth and then the end will come.. we have all remembered that verse,studied that verse and preached that verse.. the wts uses that verse to keep the jws going door to door.. of course,the wts also says we (everyone on earth)must become a jw in order to have gods favor.. i was having a discussion with a born again christian and he said the good news that is to be preached is about jesus having come and having been put to death for our transgressions.

so that we can now aproach god on the basis of the sacrifice.

in the name of jesu christ.. the wts says the good news to be preached is about the kingdom that is to come.. what do you think the good news that jesus spoke of is?.

Ya know Frenchy,

I think prophecy is like a large Rorschach test. Everybody gets to see it their way and they all get to argue that the way they see it is the right way. They also can apply it to their special time in history. People have been doing that for 2000 years and will do it for the next 2000 at least.

What are the reasons?

hi all,.

someone asked me the other day why i am so interested in reading about jws,ex jws and things that are going on with the wts.. i think for the most part,only those who have been involved with the wts can understand why we are so interested in the subject.. of course having believed everything the wts has told us over the years and dedicating our lives to it kept us tied in with them.. what are the different reasons that you all have for continuing to be preocupied with the wts?.

Struggle,

I as third generation. My wife and I left before we had kids. My aunts go back to the early Rutherford days. One advantage, Struggle, if you do decide to become less active yet, you have a lot of support. We had none. We were like strangers in a foreign land. Others have talked about that, e.g., RHW. So, though still tough, us pioneers we have made it easier for you.

this newsgroup is sort of a brazilian equivalent of alt.religion.jehovahs-witn and was established in november 3, 2000 by the isp uol (sort of the brazilian equivalent of aol).. the newsgroup has an average of 10 messages per day and in these 2 months since november has attracted both jehovah's witnesses apologists and critics, since it is a newsgroup open for all (just like alt.religion.jehovahs-witn).. first the jehovah's witnesses apologists in that brazilian newsgroup complained to uol about the posts of the "apostates", perhaps hoping the critics would be banned.. when that didn't work, they threatened all critics and sent v1rus and e-mail-bombings to 6 participants who criticized jehovah's witnesses.. when that also failed to keep the critics away from the newsgroup, they complained again to uol, saying the newsgroup had been diverted from it's initial purpose.. what a ridiculous excuse!

hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.

i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.

a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

I think the WT should have a new slogan regarding the sheep. "The flogging will continue until morale improves."

Well, there may be a basis for believing that this story has some mysterious meaning beyond the scope of what it says, but I certainly don't see it. I can't think of any logic that would make it so. I think the story is a good one, and I like it in and of itself.

I think people enjoy making things more complicted than they really are, and they also enjoy believing that all kinds of scriptures apply to their time on this earth. I find that to a be an egocentric point of view that has little merit or support. Of course, people have been doing this for thousands of years, as if the holy words applied uniquely to them.

Your right, you can beleive any part of it you want. I would rather start with a clean slate and see where that leads.

If you are going to discard WT teaching, get rid of all of it, not half of it. You are still accepting their basic FDS premis which has absolutely no basis.

I think you can see that I favor alternative #1. Now, I think it is reasonable to say that some people take the story to heart and behave like the faithful slave in the the story. To say that there will be an organized class of such people either now or in the future has no basis.
