Here’s a fact that most people do not know. Of the seven board members who went to prison on 4 July 1918, five eventually left the Bible Students! That’s something the WTS never talks about. Only Rutherford and van Amburgh stayed on. The others grew disenchanted with matters and disassociated themselves. I don’t know what their reasons were but they were probably legitimate ones which the WTS does not want to mention or discuss.

first time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.
showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.
and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .
Thanks for the link, cofty. If *lost* could also provide a link to this material, I’d be grateful.

when i got home from work this afternoon my wife was standing near the door looking at me and said you need to sit down i have some hard news to tell you.
so i sat down and she began saying my brother called and i imminently ask if my mom had died.
she said no but my mother told my brother a deep family secrect that no one knows about.
That is quite the bombshell, TotallyADD. I agree that you should take some time to think about it before making any decisions. For what it is worth, I will share my some of my own experience and family history.
My father was always faithful to my mother and I have no hidden siblings. Some of my father’s brothers and other kin, on the other hand, were male sluts. The result was that I have many relatives whom I have never met but who are my kin nonetheless. When such people were discovered, the policy of my father’s extended family was to welcome them with open arms. The old adage, “Blood is thicker than water” was something we firmly believed in. The results were almost always positive and I am very happy to know these relatives of mine. Let me add that one of my brothers fathered a son out of wedlock before he got married, but that young man is my nephew and I love him. The “legitimacy” of his birth has no bearing on our relationship and I’m happy to say my brother’s wife has also fully accepted the young man, and all the more so since he is a half-brother to her daughter.
Do what you think is best and I will add this. Proverbs 15:22 says, “There is a frustrating of plans where there is no confidential talk, but in the multitude of counselors there is accomplishment.” Talk over this development with others whom you respect and trust. You’re already doing this by creating this thread. Follow up with others and I think you will find the answers you’re seeking.

based on your experience of judicial committees, how would you advise someone who is due to meet with the elders and has asked for the best way to avoid being disfellowshipped?
is denying everything ever a successful strategy?
does addressing a letter to the elders threatening legal action if they disfellowship ever work?
As clarity put it:
If only we could have known, that the first step into
a kingdom hall .............
would be like stepping into a quagmire, into quicksand that starts
to suck you under .................................and as you turn to escape,
you realize ........ you are caught!
To which I can only say, Amen and amen!! Had I known what I was really getting into, I would have turned tail and run with all my might to get as far away from this cult as possible. Alas! I did not know until I reached middle age. But as the old adage says, “Need brooks no delay but late is better than never.” I am glad to be out and free.

I’m going to ask my partner to watch this video with me. He is struggling to understand the culture of this cult; but he already knows enough to ask me never to return there. Of course, I have no intention of doing so but I want him to see and hear a WTS officer in action so he can increase his understanding of how poisonous this cult really is.
I want to thank Cedars for making this video and posting it on the Internet. I still believe that if and when the WTS collapses, the Internet will have played a significant role in its demise. I may not witness its downfall, but I have every hope that will eventually happen. As for the writer of this talk, the Governing Body which authorized and approved it and those who have delivered it, I can only paraphrase Mark Twain. ‘I admire them. I frankly admit it; and when their time comes I want a piece of the rope for a keepsake.’

Reading this thread has only filled me with disgust regarding the entire judicial committee process. The one thought that came to me during my reading was something Abraham Lincoln said. “If you want to judge a man’s character,” he noted, “give him power.” This arrangement allows a man’s true colors to show and while many do take the responsibility of sitting on these star chambers gravely and seriously, I would have to say that most do not.
Obviously, this is the core of the control the Governing Body exercises over rank-and-file Witnesses. There is no wish to appeal to “the better angels of our nature” as Lincoln also said, but to the basest desires and emotions men have. Hence the questions posed by elders that go far beyond the scope of the problem before them. Questions that are nothing short of prurient and betray the lusts and passions of the questioners as well as their desire to manipulate, humiliate and control other people. There is no way the Governing Body will ever abolish this arrangement for to do so would mean the end of the cult itself.

at a convention recently, i met with don wallace, a former co and do.
he told me he came off the road 6 years ago and is living in scottsboro al.
him and his wife are in their late 70's.
I agree with Oubliette. This man is a hypocrite and a parasite. What do his actions say about the religion which sponsored him? But when you think about it, hasn’t the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses done the same thing? They are living high off the hog while many other Witnesses struggle to meet ends meet, aren’t they?

hi folks.
one of the elders was sent to our house to talk to me the possibility of being recommended as elder.
he did not know however that one of the elders who is a friend of mine had already divulged this future meeting.
I join others in commending your decision, ProfCNJ. It is a wise one. But I also have to add that I have very little sympathy for those who choose to “serve” in any official WTS capacity. There is nothing scriptural about their setup as even a cursory reading of the New Testament would show. First century elders were not appointed by some central authority. Those who served did so as shepherds and teachers, not as judges and juries of their fellow Christians. And they certainly did not intrude into the personal lives of others. So when I hear some complaining about the “burdens” and “responsibilities” they have, I don’t feel sorry for them. The solution to their problems is simple: either step down or decline to take up the position in the first place.
