I remember back in the 70's at St. Pete Bay Front Center. The Ice Cream man would pull up outside to sell Ice Cream. He would sell a boat load of his stuff. The next day the announcement was made not to buy from outside vendors. I aked why couldn't we buy Ice cream and I was told it was better to use the money you spent on Ice cream and give it to the WT. So my bet is on making more money. I have heard from elders in the know that DC our big money makers for the WT. Totally ADD

So, Whats the real reason JWs are no concessions open at the DC and are discouraged from supporting nearby vendors?
by BU2B inso ever since they discontinues the food service at the assemblies and dcs, jws have been "lovingly encouraged" to pack a light lunch to eat.
the secretary at the hall that i am held hostage in said during the service meeting that even a sub would be too heavy to eat, and that a light salad was the best option.
what do you fine people think is the real reason why, in the absence of food service, jws are told to not leave the building at lunch?

Ignat I got my imformation from my Botanica's Organic Gardening book. I quote "The tubers have particular value for diabetics as they store their carbohydrate in the form of insulin rather than the sucrose and starches that are found in most tubers." That is the imformation I am using. My wife is looking into her medical books on this right now. Maybe the gardening book did a misprint. Although they did say it has value for the diabetic. okage google Jeff Short of Jamestown NY. He wrote a short sermon on the "Absurdity of Atheism". He is a real piece of work. I was one of the unlucky ones who had a disccusion with him in a local forum in Jamestown. Although we got him on every point he brought out he is full of hate for anyone who is not christian. The title of his disccusion was "The three shocking beliefs of Atheists." I have never heard so many lies in my life. I thought I was listening to a WT talk. I hope this helps. Totally ADD

Doesn't the GB called themselves the faithful slave? If they are truly the faithful slave are they not supose to be slaving for us and not us for them? After all they are the slave not us. I always thought a slave serves others not us serving them. Just a thought. Totally ADD

For Band on the Run. I am a master gardener in our area. I to have Type 2diabetes. I have found one food that is diabetic friendly. That is Jerusalem Artichokes or commone name Sun Chokes. They are part of the sunflower family. The tubers are narly looking. You may have seen them in the produce section. The reason they are diabetic friendly, when eaten, instead of turning into sugar they trun in insulin. They have a nutty taste. They can be eaten raw in a salad or cooked. If you grow them make sure you have a space in back of your garden. They grow real tall. Let them grow until a good hard frost or freeze hit them. At this point they are ready to dig up. Dig up only what you want to eat. They are not real good keepers. Best to keep them in the ground through the winter and dig up only what you want. Throw some hay over the area where they had grown so it is easy to dig up during the winter. You almost never dig all the tubers up and those left behind will start your new crop for the next year. This is one of the healthy foods we can all enjoy. This plant has a long history with the native indians. In modern times Jerusalem Artichokes lost favor because they are not good keepers and sometimes hard to control in a garden. Totally ADD

Theists - Why does Morality require the existence of God?
by cantleave in"without god in your life, you cannot have a moral compass",,,, please explain to me why you think that should be so?

I had this discussion with a preacher the other night. He said the only way we can have morality is believing in a god who made them. Then he called them christian morals. I asked him which ones. The ones our founding fathers had for the U.S. Where slavery was good. Genocide of Indians was a godly right. Where women was property. He told me that was not the right morals but I said it was for those people who lived back then. They called themselves christians. Then I brought out that morals are diffrent for every generations and are all man made not god made. At that point he started side stepping and changing the subject. Our rights and wrongs are all made up by the society we live in. In our own time we have seen what was good morals when we was kids to find out as adults they were dead wrong. Morality does not require a god. Totally ADD

Caliber. Freedom from religion would be great. Joe the drunk had it right were he said religion is a snare and a racket. Atheists are being demonized by fundamentalist churches just the same way WT did with all other reglions. I have read fundamentalist literature and it is full of lies, racism, hatred and cherry pick thinking about atheists I thought I was reading a WT. To me freedom of religion is a big threat to all our freedoms in the U.S. If I went of TV and said half of what these fundamentalist churches say about ones they don't like. I would be throw in jail and key throw away. Totally ADD
