NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

the 1999 WT stand on sterilization...
by Aussie Oz innoting the thread on artificial insemination, i did a quick search under 'sperm' in the wt lib and found what i beleive is another classic case of ''its up to your conscience but we are telling you..." certainly harder than the 5/1/85 discussion on it.... the watctower 6/15/99 questions from readers (which we all pretty much figure is not from readers) has this to say;.
"sincerechristian...reproductive powers are a gift from our creator...respect for reproductive organs; these were not to be destroyed needlessly...paul did encourage passionate younger widows to marry and bear children...he did not bring up the permanent sterilization of christianstheir voluntarily sacrificing their reproductive potential...christians do well to weigh such indications that god esteems their reproductive ability...reluctantly submitted to a sterilization procedure...christians who are not facing such an unusual and distinct risk would certainly want to use soundness of mind and shape their thinking and deeds by gods esteem for reproductive potential...mature sensitivity to scriptural indications...others doubt whether he (or, she) was a good example...such a disturbing blemish on ones reputation could, of course, affect a ministers being qualified for special privileges of service".. and most but not all of the article is below.... consequently, it is unrealistic to treat male or female sterilization lightly, as if it were temporary birth control.
and for the sincere christian, there are other aspects to consider.. a central point is that reproductive powers are a gift from our creator.

I love how they brought out younger widows to remarry and have children they did not bring up permanant sterilization. Yes that is true but back then women was consider property they lived in a society were children was wealth especially if it was a boy. If they had the freedom of sterilization and it was available back then I bet alot of the women would have had it. Remember they lived in a culture where it was shameful not to have children. The more children you could have showed God was blessing you. The mans penis ruled the day. It made him more of a man if he could get his wife pregnant.
Please answer this for me how can a tubal ligation be a disturbing blemish on your reputation. Does the women go around with their heads shaved and have a big red TL painted on their back. It just goes to show you a bunch of old men on the GB just does not have a clue what it is like to be a women. I remember back in 1982 two elders came over to our house and told us we had demons because my wife had her tubes tied after the birth of our last son. The reason for that statement? Because I had lost my job and was looking for work and we needed some food. You know this is a cult when they go out of their way to kick you when your are down instead of giving you comfort and help. Totally ADD

Construction most of my life. Before the crash in 08' I bought houses fix them up and sell them. Then I worked with my wife for two years helping her in caring for our friend before he died. Now we have been unemployed for over a year. In many cases we are told we are to old for the job. So my wife and I decided to but into a co-op business and if we can get the govt. out of our way we will be selling donuts and coffee and breakfast stuff. This will be our business until we retire 9 years from now at 66. It's funny I can build a house from the ground up blind folded but I am told I am to old. Befroe I moved up north I was going for a job teaching homeowers home maintenance at a Voc Tech School. I had all the qualification. I should have over 40 experiences but was told they wanted someone younger just out of college. What I have you can't get in college. Most of the books and TV shows I see on this subject drive me nuts on how they show people the most backward ways of fixing things. Will instead of worrying about digging holes I will be worrying about donut holes. LOL Totally ADD

The New World Translation Quote from an Elder
by howdidtihappen inyou've probably heard this before, but at a meeting last night the elder called the nwt the "rolls royce" of bibles.
i'm new to the jw bs (and as soon as i can break away, will do so.
) but do they also believe they have a superior bible to anyone elses outside the religion?

They say that because it is written in our common language and is easier to understand. No thees and thous. What he did not say was they inserted Jehovah over 300 times in the NT even though it does not appear in the original writings. They just assume the disiciples would use Jehovah's name instead of lord so the WT felt they should put it in their NWT of the bible. That is called adding to the scriptures. Totally ADD

Positives of Growing Up JW
by Pig ini dont think any of us are glad we grew up in the org.
but i was thinking about people who get cancer, and if they are lucky enough to beat it often they will say that they were better for the experience.
before they got cancer they were stressed because they had to work extra hours in a shitty job to make ends meet, the kids were nothing but trouble and they spent their lives wishing that time would go faster, that week would be over, that the year would be over.

They NEED this system to be rotten... and why they can't wait to die.
by Aussie Oz inafter visiting my jw mother i came away convinced she is just as hard core as she ever was.
oh, she may bend the rules a little in not shunning her children but at heart she is jw through and through.
i had wondered if perhaps she was wavering but i doubt it.. during our visit, when i was out of the house, she had an attempt to inform my wife that the end was close...my athiest wife shot that down as nonsense much to mums apparent dislike i think.. however, it was while the tv was on in the backgound that i realized how deep she is still.

That's all my father talk about when he was alive. He just could not wait to die. He would say things like "I know what death is I will be just asleep". Or he would say " I don't care if I get killed out in field service". About a year before he died he was talking about death and I finally stop him and said to him you love being dead more than being alive! Why is this? Are you afraid of living? That finally shout him up on this subject. Within a year he died. Those last few weeks of his life you could see the fear he had about dying. Very sad what this cult does with our minds. Totally ADD

The last elder school I went to a year ago brought out the number of elders and M.S. in the U.S. The numbers are almost half of what they were 20 years ago. The M.S. pool is getting smaller and smaller with no end in site. Before I left I talk to couple of brothers why they are not reaching out. The reason is they see how burden down the M.S. and elders are and they don't want any part of it. IF this continues the WT will have to go back to one congregation servant to take care of things. Everytime the elders get a letter from the WT and that is about 2 or 4 or them a month. At the end of the letter it always states we don't want to burden you further but....you fill in the rest. At the end these letters would just sicken me. It is no wonder nobody wants to be a M.S. anymore. Totally ADD

I was 15 years old at the time. All I can say is this was more fodder my parents used not to have any responsiblity in raising me. According to them I needed no doctors, freinds, education or interest in anything except what the WT had to say. Because everything around me was going to be destoryed. No wonder I suffer with PTSD and high anxiety. Totally ADD

Thank you Vampire. I also did not know him but just like White Dove said you are doing a good thing in letting everybody know. I look at his profile and saw he was born in 1956. To young to die. It helps me to realize how short life is. So make good use of the days you have. Totally ADD
