  i don't know about the rest of you but i was one of the stupid ones lugging bricks around and cleaning them up for the jw's shortly before i left.. how many others here have done the same???.

  how many of us have at one time been construction workers for the borg???.

  I understand completely what you meant by 'having some fun'. If we all said we never ever had fun whilst in the Borg it would be lies...go read my naughty confession in the thread about funny field service stories
  I am happy that some like yourself had a good time....a bit of time out from the mundane ritualistic way of life that we all endured. And Lindy....I would never deliberately set out to hurt you; not once did I feel a need to offend you. I also don't have a raw nerve with the word fun...lol's....I am so sorry Linda to have given a false impression....please forgive me for my lack of good writing....not a strong point with me.

  I am just appalled at what the Borg got for nothing; if it gave people pleasure, that's great!!! I am not having a go at 'us' or those like yourself who enjoyed themselves, rather a personal view of what the WTBTS would stoop to.

  we were taught in the wtbts as the bible clearly states that god created the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested.. has it occurred to anyone else that god got up to a lot of wars ect whilst he was supposedly sleeping?????.

  not only the wars but the actual writing of the bible which was pounded into us as being inspired by god.. if only i could do as much in my sleep.. ana....

  Hi Dave,

  Thankyou for your post. You summed up how I feel, also. I cannot accept any organized religious thinking anymore and yet I am a highly spiritual person.

  I believe you may understand what I mean from your own post. It is something that is deep within....actually it goes much further but I do not feel that this is the place to bring that kind of subject out into the open.

  As for the bible, if "God" really wanted it understood as if we were children it would not need interpreting by men. Therefore I do not give a great deal of credence to the idea of the bible being an "inspired" book from "God".

  Thanks again for your post, I would love to hear your ideas on spirituality if you would like to share...either here or my email is open.

  Why going 'door to door' this week felt so good!

  yes that's right, i actually went door to door this week!!.

  well okay, not trolling for new dubs but as a collector for the national kidney research fund.. earlier this year i'd done the same thing for marie curie cancer research.. let me share a few things i've learned.. most people were genuinely pleased to see me at their doorstep - can you imagine how alien that felt?.

  they were pleasant, willing to chat and, with few exceptions, donated to what they could see were worthwhile causes.. i would return home after collecting with a feeling that i had actually accomplished something.. someone, somewhere at some point in time might actually benefit from the time that i, and many other volunteers, put into this charitable work.

  Yes, it is a real shock to be welcome isn't it??? What you have done is really worthwhile and meaningful.

  I too, like others here have devoted a lot of my time to voluntary work. I am still amazed at how warmly I am welcomed.

  Richard Scarry's Best Field Service Story--EVER

  ok so pardon me for the take off on richard scarry--he really is one of my favorite all time children's authors.. but i had to share this field service story with you--it's the gospel truth!

  hopefully, you can add some of yours.. while pioneering in upstate ny, my sister and i had frequent occasions to work in service with a married pioneer couple.

  yes, they were window washers, but that's not the real story here.. they had a return visit on an elderly gentleman who was kind enough to take the magazines every once in a while.

  Almonds....I will never think of those yummy nuts the same way again. I cannot come up with ANYTHING as funny as that. *Wow* they got their greedy just deserts!!

  I was forced to go door to door from very young against my wishes...it was either that or my father's belt. So I teemed up with a girl who had become a good friend. She was a few years older than my "about 14" at the time.

  My father supplied me with books, bibles...watchtowers and awakes...you name it.....likewise my friend Debbie's father did the same.

  Debbie suggested that we UP the anti....."put up the price of the literature". We sold the lot every Sunday and then filled ourselves up with a weeks worth of pocket money....our fathers' never asked for the money for the books....and only WE knew about the price hike. We also filled in many more hours on our forms than we really did!!!

  Very Naughty!!!!!

  My friend died 2 years after this from malignant melanoma....she was also being raped by her own brother, so as two abused kids, we were somehow trying to survive. I still miss her.
