Warren Shewfelt is a Canadian who served as a CO when I lived in Montreal. He served at the Canadian Branch and in East-Europe and there is a picture of him being hit during a mob attack at the K-Hall in one of the WT discussing JW being persecuted in Georgia (or Belarus). I don't have the WT CDROM but if you search his name you may find the article...

If you can't recall anything from your previous life how would anyone ever know if you are reincarnated? I may have been king Solomon...today I'm Joe Smoe...all I know is what I feel right now!

(PIONEERING) and the way to get ahead: PIOUS SNEERING
by Terry inthe year was 1969.. i had just spent my 2 years fulfilling my "neutrality" obligations to jehovah's organization during the viet nam war by going in to federal prison.. i thought i could use my parole to get my life together.. getting a job, saving some money, buying a car and getting a place to live didn't seem like radical or worldly ideas to me.. i guess i was pretty surprised when i walked in to the kingdom hall where i had not set foot since 1967.. .
instead of a homecoming i was greeted by----the congregation overseer (the pre-elder days).. in his hot little hand was the pioneer application form.
he handed it to me saying, "i know you'll want to continue your serving jehovah full time!".

Thanks for your post. He took me back in time and I share the same feelings you expressed so clearly.
Here in Canada there was no military draft during the Vietnam war...but I remember young brothers from Massachusetts attending an international convention at the Montreal Forum in 1966 saying they dreaded returning home because draft cards were received. The frenzy of 1975 approaching made most of us do stupid things, like quiting high school or marrying way too young. I still can't get over the fact that I still believed after the failed prophecies. At that time I was newly married and planning a to have a family despite having everyone telling us this was a big mistake. Today my children are 36 and 33 and I have 2 grand children that started school. I cannot imagine life all alone without a wife and family as many who made that sacrifice for the WT...

I have a new medical directive/record card
by smiddy inmy wife and i joined probus earlier this year, and we received a medical record card to fill out ( optional ) usual personal information / contacts /medical problems / medications etc.
and comments.
and under comments i have stated i am an organ donor,i reject jw blood doctrine.i accept all medical procedures including blood products.. i felt the need to do this since over the years ,when i was an active witness, i have needed some medical treatment,an operation whereby i made it quite plain i would not accept blood under any circumstances being a jw.

Good for you Smiddy!
A few months after I stopped attending the meetings I got rid of my medical directive card but I have yet to convince myself to be an organ/blood donor...I guess 50 years in the cult leaves some hang-ups difficult to overcome. At my next visit to my doctor I will make changes to my medical record to make sure I am given all necessary treatments in case of an accident or illness...my only concern is that there is a JW nurse working there and she may rat me out. My wife is still active while I am under the radar...for her and my family's sake I would like to keep it that way. If it was only up to me I would tell the WT where to go...but they have the ability to make life hell for their own members.

In my area there are several micro-breweries that make all kinds of beer...Sleeman, Steam Whistle, Brick...and some pubs brew their own...

Most Christians believe they will go to heaven because that what they were taught...Today's the majority of JWs believe that they will live in a paradise on earth because that what they were taught...but now that the heavenly call had never officially ended in 1935 and that the number of partaker is steadily increasing, who's to say what they believe!

After I found out the truth about the WT "truth" my whole way of seeing the future changed. I no longer care nor worry about a "earthly or heavenly" hope at all. If there is no life after this then one day I will just not wake up and that will be the end of it...and if there is I will wake up into a new strange place...I know some people believe in reincarnation...but without any clear memories of your previous life why would it matter? No one has ever come back from the afterlife to give us tangible proof...
