My wife and I joined probus earlier this year, and we received a medical record card to fill out ( optional ) usual personal information / contacts /medical problems / medications etc. and comments. And under comments I have stated I am an organ donor,I reject JW blood doctrine.I accept all medical procedures including blood products.

I felt the need to do this since over the years ,when I was an active witness, I have needed some medical treatment,an operation whereby I made it quite plain I would not accept blood under any circumstances being a JW

And having moved between 3 states over the years and attending doctors in these 3 states I felt it necessary to update my current resolve.

And this medical record card from probus enabled me to do this.

    Good for you Smiddy!

A few months after I stopped attending the meetings I got rid of my medical directive card but I have yet to convince myself to be an organ/blood donor...I guess 50 years in the cult leaves some hang-ups difficult to overcome. At my next visit to my doctor I will make changes to my medical record to make sure I am given all necessary treatments in case of an accident or illness...my only concern is that there is a JW nurse working there and she may rat me out. My wife is still active while I am under the radar...for her and my family's sake I would like to keep it that way. If it was only up to me I would tell the WT where to go...but they have the ability to make life hell for their own members.

Don`t you just hate it when you spend 15 min. typing out something ,you press the wrong tab and bingo it`s gone ?

    OK I`ll try again

NVR2L8 : In your cicumstances I would probably tread the same path , your relationship with your wife is of paramount importance ,dont jeopardise it. You never know what will eventuate down the track ,maybe she will see some cracks in the WT teachings ,you never know.

I`ve been away from the org. since 1993 and it`s taken me all these years to become an organ donour , when you have been indoctrinated for decades it`s hard to break the mould ,and I now see it as something I can give back to humanity ,to give someone else a chance of a few more years of life ,instead of letting my organs rot in a grave or be burnt up in a crematourium , thats just my 2 cents worth.

Is their a minimun age limit to joining probus ? Maybe I need to look at the fine print on the acceptance sheet.LOL

But yes, sad to say I`m looking at the final staight down the track on the home run where only one is the winner ,and guess what ,who gives a shit, if I dont make it....am I going to lament it for the rest of my life ? I dont think so, I`ll be dead. No conscience, right ? But who knows I may live another 20 years ,thats a possability, not probable ,but still a possability

    take care BP

Most of the ppl that join Probus seem to be retirees, hence my comment Smiddy.

Just be thankful you've reached middle age (at least). Not every person that is born gets that opportunity.
