When I first started my research on the Watchtower on the internet I found several sites that perfectly fitted the profile that the organization makes of the "typical" apostate...bitter, hateful, disrespectful, deceiving and twisting facts to discredit the "brothers". Some YouTube videos were just rants with no substance other than voicing anger against the Watchower. I also found other sites that used the Watchtower's own publications to show the flaws in their teachings...Shazoloo's, Watchtower Comments and ex-Gilead Missionary videos were eye openers for me. But most of all, JWFacts was instrumental for my awakening...every subject I had doubts about were clearly addressed using sound reasoning. In most cases I was relieved to see I was not the only one seeing things differently than the Watchtower or having doubts that their teachings are bible-based. But most of all I found that the tone used by the many contributors to JWFacts was reassuring, confident and open to debate. These site contributed in opening my mind, allowing me to free myself from the control of the Watchtower, and I am very thankful for that.

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...

The Challenge and the Result
by stuckinamovement ini remember being late for my senior year chemistry class.
as i grabbed the last seat in the back of the room i could tell that a boy in my class was engaged in yet another debate with the teacher.
jim was a bright student but he felt that he knew more than mr. roberts our chemistry teacher.

Who is paying for this?!!?!?
by DATA-DOG inremember a while back when the wtbts wanted more money to bring home missionaries?
i have been looking for that thread to no avail.
anyway, each and every kh that adopted that resolution is contributing a good deal of money to the wtbt$ based on the amount of publishers.

Hey DD, I just can't figure out how JWs don't see the money scam! Borrow from the WTS money you donated to renovate a Kingdom Hall that belongs to the WTS, provide all the free labour and food during the reno and then pay back that loan to the WTS...No wonder the WTS wants KHalls to be renovated...

Do you know of CO's, DO's or their wives who are anointed?
by Pistoff inhello all, help me to recognize a possible trend:.
is your current or recently past co or do or their wives of the anointed?.
i think i have discovered a disturbing trend..

None that I can remember and I go back to the early 60's...a few of the anointed I knew back then were already old and now have all died. Some were pioneer sisters, a few "congregation overseers" and a couple of lunatics...as the WTS would call them: emotionally disturbed. I knew a young MS that suddenly started partaking...it had a negative impact on his recent marriage...they separated and either of them remained a JW...that Holy Spirit sure is powerful.

If you are looking for a point and shoot easy to use camera, Samsung makes a variety of WiFi cameras with a feature called Remote Viewfinder...you load this app on an iPhone or android smartphone and use the phone as a viewfinder, to zoom and shoot from up to 75 feet away...So from a distance you can see on your phone what the picture will look like, then you can shoot as many pictures as you want using the touch screen of your phone. The picture is saved in the camera and you can also save it in your phone. Some of these camera use Schneider lenses and have 21x zoom...and they produce a much better picture than most phones that have no optical zoom and very small lenses.

North Korea - U.S - War ?
by *lost* inthings look to be hotting up here.
scary.. what are the chances of it all kicking off ?.

I travel to South Korea once a year and I was in Seoul shortly after North Korea bombed the island and killed 4 people. The news papers were reporting the retorics from the North and I asked my host if I was going to be able to make it back home before the war starts! He started to laugh and said that the threats of war have been going on for decades...that they were part of North Korea's strategy to obtain concessions and aid from foreign nations. I not saying that this time there are no risks of escalation, but what I see here in the news has been a daily occurance for decades for South Koreans...

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!!
by Julia Orwell inthat's how i feel when i see these crazy new wt study articles and the inane reasoning contained therein, and the indoctrination machines of meetings run by all those little hardened human cogs and the unending stream of propaganda we're pitched up against.
.. you could spend all your time working through those wt articles (see cedar's post on the latest 'new light') and refuting the stupidity, and yet most witnesses aren't even concerned with changes to the fds or 144 000 because like all of humanity they're too busy trying to scratch a living as it is.
such airy doctrine changes don't have any effect on their day to day lives and is thus irrelevant.

Julia,
I experienced the same emotions for decades...I wish instead I listened to reason and left long ago. Of course I would lose all my friends, but I quickly realized I had no friends within the "brotherhood". I stopped going to the meetings suddenly and I didn't get one phone call from my friends...of course they would tell my wife to say "hi" or that they "miss" me. Then a year later 2 elders came to my door unanounced with their uniform suit and tie and bible in hand. I told them to leave me alone. One of these elders is the hugger type...he even kissed me on the ckeeks at every meeting...Now I realize this meant absolutely nothing since he never even made an attempt on his own to find out what was going on with me. He to my door because of his sense of duty for the Watchtower and not love towards me!

Madness in the pages of the very first Golden Age. The date? Oct 1, 1919
by cedars ini was doing some research in the very first issue of golden age (forerunner to awake!
), published october 1, 1919, and couldn't believe what madness was contained on some of its pages.. for example, i can't believe i missed this clipping when i was researching my article on racism in early watchtower literature a year ago..... .
segregation of black children is basically praised as "wise" and "probably an advantage to all concerned.

The only way Watchtower writers can praise the value of the Golden Age magazine in publications written decades later is because they didn't researched what it contained...or if they did, they were counting on the fact that these old publications would just disapear with time and be available to very few. Thanks to the information technology nothing can be burried in the past!
Thanks Cedar for bringing these back into the light!
