You are all wicked Apostates!!!
by iamwhoiam inthis is nothing new obviously, i'm just using this as a sounding board to see if i'm looking at this thing correctly.
your thoughts are greatly appreciated.. watchtower july 15, 2011 p 15 paragraph 4 under the title "will you heed jehovah's clear warnings?".
4 to elders of the ephesus congregation, paul said: from among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things.

Here is the meaning of the word apostasy according the the Oxford English Dictionary (the status quo of dictionaries):
noun
- the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief .
I don't see the phrase "mentally diseased" in that definition.
So if you abandon a belief such as "this generation" and replace it with a new belief such as "overlapping generation", isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. oh wait, that's not apostasy, it's just "new light".
S o i have it figured out now, if anyone asks me why I left, i can just say, "new light"!

Yeah..I've seen this topic posted endlessly on this forum. I just wanted to make a point about the footnote since I myself am trying to plan an exit (dissassociate).

Watchtower July 15, 2011 p 15 paragraph 4 under the Title "Will you heed Jehovah's clear warnings?"
4 To elders of the Ephesus congregation, Paul said: “From among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things.” Addressing fellow Christians, Peter wrote: “There will also be false teachers among you.” So from where do false teachers come? They may arise from within the congregation. Such ones are apostates.*
*“Apostasy” is a standing away from true worship, a falling away, defection, rebellion, abandonment.
So according to the footnote for paragraph 4, you are labeled an apostate if you simply leave (abandon) true worship, as the Watchtower believes/deems it to be. Therefore if you are an apostate, you are automatically "mentally diseased" as mentioned in paragraph 6:
Well, apostates are “mentally diseased,” and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings.
Notice that even if you are not seeking to infect others with disloyal teachings, you are still a "mentally diseased" apostate just for leaving the organization as per their definition in the footnote of paragraph 4.
And this is where it get's funny, with all this labeling of people (who decide not to be a part of the organization) as apostates, the same article has this to say in paragraph 16 along with the quotation/reference of 1 Thess. 4:11 above it:
Remember, too, that we should not impose our own views on others regarding matters that they need to decide for themselves.
I'm getting a little naucious now!!

Is there really any difference between disfellowshipping and disassociation?
by iamwhoiam inyou would think being disfellowshipped is like being fired from a job and being dissassociated is like quitting a job...is this the correct understanding?.
as much as i have been searching for the answer to this question in the later articles, i can't really find a concrete answer.
but being an ms and raised in "the truth", i was always brought up to feel like if someone disassociates themself, they are automatically labeled an apostate.

So basicly, I am either for or against the organization? If I leave, i'm a "dog who returns to his own vomit"? I told my parents 5 years ago that i didnt agree with the org anymore..that it no longer makes sense to me. But then they go into the "we have to try and fix him mode." After that didn't work and I easily shot them down by turning thier own words against them, they drew the last straw and said "you know if you leave, we can't associate with you anymore." It was the worst thing I ever heard. I felt abandoned and hurt..as if I was being blackmailed by my own parents. They are choosing belief over family. They assured me it was because I wasn't staying busy enough in the org. Long story short... 2 years later i was appointed servant and am still one; I put family before belief. It makes me sick that I'm doing something I don't believe in. My parents tell me how proud they are of me, etc. etc. Both my parents and my sibling are diehards...both will shun me if i quit. I just don't understand why if I choose not to believe the same way as someone else (especially family), I must suffer emotional consequences. That's another point, why would anyone want to be part of an organization that is predudice against non-believers.
Btw..I've been in the truth since I was 4. Im 35 now and feel so much of my life was/is wasted. Should I just leave and live my own life? TBH..I already know the answer to all these questions. I really just needed to vent.

They chose the wicked ways of the world over Jehovah. If i disassociate myself, will my diehard "truthfollowing" family shun me? If they ask why I quit, can I simply keep my mouth shut on the subject and not be shunned?
Thoughts?

What is truth?
by mankkeli inand i dont want to see the dictionary definition of the word, as the word is merely a label, and the definition is merely a description of the word.. .
i want to discuss the concept of truth, as there is alot hiding behind the mere label.. .
to start off with, is truth merely when we come to agreement, and stop questioning?

Truth is whatever you want it to be.
