If they really are expecting the end so soon...
by WTWizard inyou hear the witlesses harping on how great tribulation is coming.
there are signs even in the world that major bedlam is soon to break out.. so then, how many witlesses did you know that have plans to make such tribulation a bit more endurable?
you know, things like gold and silver in case their currency becomes worthless.

Can anyone confirm if there is no marking announcement? I think the answer is in the "Organized to do Jehovah's will", but I'm not sure and I just sent all my literature to the recycling factory. I saved a tree this way and I have 0 regrets.

DesirousOfChange may be right. I witnessed a marking talk, with no names mentioned, but I never saw the announcement: "Brother X is marked". Furthermore, the marked person was the one who enforced the restrictions: the brother in question refused to say the prayer once in a field service meeting, but we did not understood why. A few days later, we found out why: he was marked, the elders asked him to refrain from public prayers and from every other privileges and he was the one who was expected to refuse them politely. The marked one knows he has no privileges and must turn them down politely.

Why haven't more JWs noticed the WTS false prophecy?
by Chemical Emotions ini haven't found anything to show that they have, except in the reasoning book, they admit say this:.
"jehovah's witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets.
they have made mistakes.

If anyone in the central Bethell farts loudly, that will produce a tsunami in the congos. The r&f dubs come with a pitiful excuse: they never said PRECISELY that the world would end in 75! It's outrageous! A body of people tell you what to wear, what to eat, how much to drink, how to screw your wife, how much time you have to waste in field circus and when the same body of people "suggests, emphasizes, etc" that the world would probably end in 75, the r&f drones jump to their defence, saying "they never PRECISELY said that...". The GB screwed the r&f in the a..s and the r&f find excuses for them, saying that it was not precise enough. Stupid JWs.

Does mankind need religon to have morality?
by highdose inan arguement i've encountered recently is: god tells us right from wrong.
if you don't have a reason to do right instead of wrong then no one will have any morals.. i disagree with this entirely of course.
what kind of morality is it when you are only doing what is right out of fear of being punished for doing what is wrong?.

Aguest, I made an English error. Not "everything", just "most of". And some of the examples you mentioned were also some sort of religions.

It's harsher than a reproval because reprovals are usually short restrictions applied to repentant wrongdoers. Marking is just one step away from disfellowshipping.

The specific procedure is like this: if someone, let's say...intends to marry an unbeliever, the elders try to persuade him/her into not doing so. They try to persuade him/her in a smal series of hounding sessions, in private. The uneven yoke argument, bla, bla. If the person in question maintains his/her decision, a special talk is given during the congregation needs hour. The talk is based on presenting the dangers of being in an uneven yoke with a worldly, but no names are given. If after that the person still maintains his/her position and marries with the unbeliever, an elder makes an announcement at the next congo meeting: "Brother/sister XYZ has been marked." This means the person in question is still a JW, can still go in field service, but all other privileges are fubar and association with that person is to be considered spiritually damaging for the rest of the rank and file dubs in the congo. It's like being DFd, but you can still come to meetings, dubs still say hello to you, they can associate with you in field service (but that's all the association you will get). In time, the elders expect you to show progress by starting a Bible study with the unbeliever mate and everyone is happy and things get back to normal if he/she reaches baptism and becomes another brainwashed zombie.
I don't know if there is an unmarking announcement like: "Brother X is no longer marked".

The brochure is real and was hanged on my ex-congo's wall for a whole year, from 2009 until 2010.

Wouldn't the predators on the ark have eaten everything by the time the 40 days was over?
by highdose inlet say noah did manage to get all the species into the ark... about half of them would have been predators and the other half natural prey.. are we going to belive that they went without eating for 40 days and nights?
or the ridiculous theory as the wt would have it that noah fed them nice tasty bales of straw which they happily munched on?.
and even if one of these two exhuses were true, when the animals were let out of the ark into a world now deverstated by a flood, then wouldn't they have continued eating eachother???

Well, the last minor ice age ended just 10.000-12.000 years ago. Maybe it left it's fingerprint in the collective sub-counciousness under this form: the story of the Deluge.

Other churches, mainly pentecostal, say that God induced a state of hibernation on the animals and that during their stay on the ark they neither ate, drunk or pooped...just slept.
