Remember - those properties were purchased under the guidance of Jah's holy spirit. That is why they are worth big bucks today.

And therein lies the problem IMHO. Dedication is tied in with baptism. How can you understand what that really means. I was baptised in my twenties and can say that I never dedicated my life to anyone. Was baptised more to happify my brother and his wife who studied with us (my wife and I) didn't really do it for the "proper" reasons. Was an experience that was more negative than positive. Was at a larger assembly, herded into a cold huge changing area and then to the pool for dunking. At least at a smaller assembly there is the opportunity for the occassion to be somewhat of a personal occassion with some you know as observers. We were bussed from the assembly to the pool and back, a totally impersonal experience. I recall being approached by a reporter while waiting to board the bus back and being totally flustered trying to answer her questions regarding my experience and the reasons for doing it.

Thanks for the reply and ALSO what I thought was interesting is that they would include that in the article. These relatives were obviously upset that they "changed" their religion, yet they relented. Would the dubs ever do the same? I leave them and they will NEVER relent.
Also I think the word shun simply comes from his mind set. Truth is the other relatives simply ignored them.

THE WATCHTOWER ? FEBRUARY 1, 2012 11
Making the needed changes in our lifestyle
was not easy. I had stopped growing tobacco
because doing so conflicts with Bible principles.
(2 Corinthians 7:1; James 2:8) It took
some time before we found acceptable employment
that provided a steady income.
Also, for many years after that, some of our
relatives refused to visit us. We tried to treat
them according to Bible principles by showing
them love. Eventually, the barriers came
down, and now our close relatives no longer
shun us. -

True. In typical fashion they have/use an article like this to their advantage even while they practically forbid thier kids to enjoy such sports.
I just realized I hyjacked this thread away from bugs, but not really cuz I sometimes think they are bugs and the stumbled part might apply. They stumbled me by featuring sports.
